*Dribbling, scoring

So that is Jermain Defoe. He is a bit of an unbalanced player, in the sense that he is very good in some areas of his game, but there are others which definately need improving.

First lets discuss his athleticism. First point to make is that he is quick. With a small frame, and pace like he has he is awkward to play against. Has got really good acceleration. Is very quick to pounce on loose balls in and around the penalty area. With a response of 84 and acceleration of 91, any defenders who make mistakes can expect Jermaine to be onto the ball very quickly. Has good stamina and endurance, with a value of 80. Its surprising in real life to sometimes to see him being a tad lazy in the later parts of the game. Mentality rating of 77, means he is going to stop chasing some of the balls so well, and generally be a less active. Has a decent leap on him, with a value of 73, but in the air is definately not his strong point.

As I said before he is very quick. On the ball as well he is fast, and with dribble speed of 85, he gives lots of defenders the run around. What occasionally lets him down is his first touch which can sometimes be a little shabby. Technique of 75, means shows he can be slightly sloppy sometimes. Once he has the ball under control though he is comfortable running at defenders, and dribble accuracy of 81 mean the ball is kept under good control. Dribbling special star means he is going to run at defenders a lot, and give them problems. This also highlights another of his flaws, in so much as he sometimes makes wrong decisions. He needs to develop his passing game in real life. He doesnt really know when to make passes and move into space, and generally opts to run at defenders.

Shooting is definately a strong point for Jermaine. You always see him ingame looking to get a shot in. He picks the ball up, uses his pace and agility to create a little bit of space, and is great at firing off powerful snap shots.
Shot accuracy of 85, power of 87, and technique of 87 mean he is a definate threat in the penalty area when he has the ball. The shot technique rating of 87 illustrates how Jermaine is good at shooting, when in close proximity to a defender, and even uses it to his advantage. You often see him in real life cleverly position himself so that the defender is between him and the keeper then uses a little bit of acceleration and fire a snap shot. These stats now allow you to do this.

What Jermaine is not so good at is recieving the ball IN the penalty area, especially in and around the 6-yard box. He doesnt attack the right space. For example, if say Aaron Lennon is on the byline and drills the ball across goal, Jermaine doesnt do what all class strikers do, and get BETWEEN the centre backs and attack the ball. Instead he oten nicks behind the LAST defender, on the off chance the ball may spill through. He doesnt have the same predatory instinct. Great example would be at home to Manchester United in the opening minutes. If Jermain had attacked the space between the defenders, it would have been 1 - 0 Spurs. To represent this in game, there is a contribution of two factors. Firstly, no positioning special star. Secondly a low teamwork value, of only 66. This means that he is much less likely ingame to make the intelligent runs in and arounf the box.

Right there you go. Jermaine Defoe is definately a good player, but there are certain aspects of his game which need improving.

Well done Ferdinand93 for joining in this thread, it just gets better and better!!
To Bagrunnel, I have just thought of some really good players for you to work on which are so badly misrepresented in the game:

Lionel Messi and Adriano.

Keep up the good work my friend!!

Dj big more you have a knack of requesting players which Im either in the process of doing, or absolutely love! Adriano is one of my favourite players, and I have watched enough of him to certainly give accurate stats to. So look forward to Adriano soon, and will bear Messi in mind.

Cheers

*Dribbling, tactical dribble, scoring, post player, middle shooting.

He has had a very hard season. Has had problems with injurys and inconsistency, spending some time on the bench. There is no doubt however that he is full of raw talent. Here are a few points I would like to raise about him.

Athleticism is a key part of Adriano's game. Firstly he has great pace, with both top speed of 89 and acceleration of 90, and a dribble speed of 89, as he truly is as fast with the ball as without. Very good leap with a value of 83. His physical build is incredible. He has extremely well built upper body with a neck like a bison. His strength is therefore naturally extremely immense, and he is probably one of the strongest players in the world. Balance stat of 98 and and the post player special star means he is going to extremely hard to get off the ball, and will be able to ride tackles thrown at him. His pace and strength coupled are an unbelievable combination.

Has a good long pass and if he gets drawn out wide can put good balls back in. Also a competent short passer he can play the ball to his team mates well. I have put his short pass speed up a whole 7 points to 77, just to give them that bit more zip on them.

Shooting is another extremely good part of Adrianos game. Very potent from distance and great in the box, is capable of scoring some great goals. He scored a goal in the confederations cup from about 35 yards that was unbelievable, and has scored some great distance efforts over the last couple seasons for Inter. His raw power is also reflected in his shooting. When he gets hold of a ball, he REALLY gets hold of the ball. Very high accuracy mean he can pick his spot well. In real life he uses his strength to create that extra yard to get the shot in. With a shot technique of 87, and his balance figure he is fantastic at shooting under pressure. Naturally he is also a threat from free kicks, and he is very very good at curling the ball. This season in Seria A, he scored a free kick from about 30 yards that literaly went AROUND the wall. Ingame he has a curling value of 86. Some of you may think 99 for shot power is being a bit drastic. Handing out 95+ is where you have to be very careful, as it represents a truely WORLD CLASS ability in that segment. A 99 is going to mean that they are the best in the game at it. I give very few 99's, but Adriano is one of a select few including Roberto Carlos, Lampard, Beckham. It signifys that they are the BEST in the world at the feature. For me Adriano and Roberto Carlos have the two hardest shots in the world.

Heading is another strong point. Good accuracy and leap mean is always a threat, and with his shot power we get the feeling he is using his incredible neck muscles to generate great power on the ball, just as he does in real life.

But all these great things, dont cover up some big weaknesses. Firstly he is inconsistent, and has had injury problems this year. An B injury rating means if people resort to cynical fouls on him (which they may have to do!), he is that bit more susceptable to picking up knocks.
His biggest weakness though, is he really isnt that great a team player. Defence of 33 is the first represantion, and the second is his relatively low team work rating. A rating of 72 is what you would describe as 'good' in game. Nothing more, nothing less. But it isnt going to make start making that great movement in the box. In real life he doesnt use intelligent movement in the box. He wants the ball played to feet around the penalty box so he can either have a distance effort, or use his strength and pace to burst through the defence and blast it in. Ingame, he wont make those clever runs you see Crespo making, and he wont spin his defender like RVN. To emphasis this he doesnt have a positioning star. He is less inclined to find the space in the box, and its hard to play cutting through balls to him. Just like in real life he likes the ball played into his feet so he can try something special. So basically a team work ability of 72 means he wont make those special moves in the box, but what it does do is make him that bit more adapt at playing and recieving passes, something that when he had the rating of 67, was a bit to poor to be real life reflection.

Ingame, you may not even notice him on the pitch. But when you get the ball to him, his power, pace, and shooting ability mean he can try something that little bit special.

If you want to see some clips of him, go to Yahoo.com, switch the search mode to 'video' and type in Ariano Leito Ribeiro. There is his goal against greece in the confederations cup which is a must see.

How is your knowledge of the newly promoted premiership sides? I am especially intrigued about your opinion of Watford's Marlon King. He has been touted for England, but I haven't seen enough of him play to decide if I agree or not.

I have not watched anyway near as much of the championship as I used to I must admit. From what I have seen of him, he seems to be a good player, but what I have seen of him isnt really that much! Am looking forward to seeing the newly promoted teams in the premiership though, as I dont really know as much as I should about them? Perhaps there is someone else who could help our friend here? Anyone out there who could give us a bit of insight into Marlon King?

By the people, I have three players now Im lining up for my next analysis.

Darren Bent
Robin Van Persie
Wayne Ronney

So which one to people want next? Its up to you!

Thank you very much sdav89, I appreciate that. Right as promised here is the boy wonder Wayne Rooney. Always a topic of discussion when regarding PES5 stat editing. Is he underrated? Is he overrated? Well it doesnt really matter, the bottom line is he wasnt done particularly well. So here he is, in all his glory!

*dribbling, passing, scoring, middle shooting, 1-touch pass, outside.

Wayne Rooney is actually a strange player to edit stats for. You look down at what youve awarded in for each valuue and you think, 'blimey, thats high!' So you try them out, and then you realise you've underrated him in a category! He is one of the few players in the world that has great ability in just about every aspect of his game. He really is that good.

So, first thing to mention, like I did with Joe Cole, is he has excellent general technique. A great first touch and competent with both feet. With a technique of 86, he has that lovely touch, always the mark of a quality player. What some people may not realise is that the technique value also influences the quality of chip shots. So we can see that with a technique of 86, Wayne is going to be able to keep his composure in front of the keeper, and execute chiped shots to a very high standard. Just look at his chip against Wigan and this demonstrates just one of Waynes many kinds of shot.

Defensively, Wayne has got better as the season has progressed. We could see that in the early stages of the season, Wayne's anger often got the better of him. He is definately better now, but we still see the anger occasionally.

Pace is another asset of Waynes. As you can see, I have given Wayne the same value for dribble speed and top speed. This is as he truly is as fast on the bal as off it. He has great acceleration as well, an 88 meaning hes very quick off the mark.

Passing. Another part of Waynes game that has improved a lot since joining United, so much to the extent that he is at the heart of lots of their goals, not just scoring, but supplying. Accurate along the ground, with a great sense of awareness, Waynes vision helps him distribute the ball effectively around the park. His lofted passes are also very good, and he can pick out team mates well. These factors warrant the passing star ingame.

Shooting is one his best areas. Very accurate and extremely powerful are two fantastic features regarding his shots, and he can keep his composure when under pressure from defenders.

A great way to sum up Wayne will be to highlight two moments from this season. First his asset for Ruud Van Nistelrooy's goal away at Charlton. Pace, strength, determination, awareness of team mates positioning, fantastic lofted ball, inspirational use of the outside of the boot. Secondly his goal against Arsenal. Great first touch, composure with two defenders bearing down on him, tremendous power in the shot AND a high degree of accuracy. Wayne truly is a great player.
