Set in 2019 after a colossal asteroid crashes to Earth, Crysis begins amidst a tense military standoff between the North Korean and United States governments for control of the impact zone. The invasion of Earth has begun. I had a flick-through a computer magazine during a lunch break this week and it looked outstanding. You can interact with the whole environment, enabling you to smash through doors/walls rather than finding an entrance, amongst more creative things.

In an interview with Next-Gen.Biz, Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli states that PCs that are two, even three years old will be able to effectively run their heavily anticipated FPS Crysis. The CEO claims that the existence of hardware shaders has allowed them to develop visual effects that will be heavily scalable, granting owners of older PCs a comparable gaming experience.

Working with Vista, DirectX 10, and multi-core processors could have been more challenging, but the interview states that the developer's strong connections with Nvidia, Intel, and Microsoft helped to ease the pain of transition. "We rarely had crashes, blue screens or rebooting machines," Yerli states.

When asked how he felt in regards to Microsoft corporate VP Peter Moore's statement that Vista will bring about a "renaissance" for PC gaming, Yerli responds that "it's about time". Additionally, Crytek plans to throw all of its support behind Vista. "Most likely we will upgrade all dev stations to Vista and move to Vista-only titles, but that's not 100 percent decided yet," he adds.

In spite of overwhelming demand, a definitive release date for Crysis has not yet been announced.

Heh, don't think too many people have those specs. Still, runs a whole lot better in DX9 model. I bought CoD 4 over this and judging on the demo I don't regret it. Also:

For those who don't know: you can't play the whole game on very high settings with current hardware. They've written the game ideally for hardware which will be out in a couple of years. If anyone cares :erm:
