Defending Corners

I've just completed my first season on Master League on Top Player on the PS3. What i've found is that corners are really hard to defend against. More often than not the attacking players win the ball (i've started as QPR form the AC's Championship ption file... so the defence stats aren't awful like the default players). Most of the goals i've conceded have been from corners. I was sitting pretty in 3rd place (the last automatic promotion spot) for my last game of the season, playing against the bottom team at home. I took a 2-1 lead in the 89th minute, thought i'd done enough to get promoted. Then in injury time they win a corner, they cross it in, my guy misses a simple header, their attacker heads it, it hits my player on the line, hits the post and trickles in. I finished 5th!!!!
Does anybody else find corners hard to defend against?

Unlucky with the 5th place, but yea whenever the COM gets a corner i worry lol, only things that helps is if u get 1 of ur players 2 stand around the edge of the 5 yard box and he will clear the ball hopefully.

As alluded to by RN50, get control of a defender that you can position inline with the near post, on th 6yrd line.

It's not as effective in this latest version of PES, but will still cut out more threats from corners than not.

How do you guys kick corners? Near post/far post/man outside the area/grounder? Do you guys usually score? I rarely score off a corner.

From right side I use right foot, outside of boot inswinger with power to near post. Reverse for left side. Was deadly on 2008, not so on this version, but still effective if you have a competant striker.

Fucking useless against human opponents though...

Alright that's what I thought. I rarely score against human players. The only times I score are from grounders, near post.

Once you have pressed the button to select power, immediately push left or right on the d-pad/stick to apply swerve. It's the same technique used for free-kicks.

A right-footed player swerving a ball from left to right will use the outside of the boot to effect the swerve. A fave technique from my playing days. Need to use a player with decent swerve rating to get the best of it though.

If i see any players lurking in the near post, i'll usually directly aim it there. Worked quite a few times for me.

pulling back on the stick and pressing full power is a favorite of mine. i did this to the edge of the box and SWP hit it first time into the top corner.

Press "L2" to front the attacker and then press square right before he makes a contact with the ball. And he'll head or kick the ball away... You can use this method throughout the whole game when you need to be in front of your man...

use r2 to posistion defender ,i tend to try and double up with there biggest threat in the 6 yrd and then prey but if the comp is on its hot few minutes then youve no chance thats the beauty
