Demo 1: Constructive Criticism

Hmmmm gameplay wise I have a few small problems. Firstly is the whole throw in default set-up. You know when the ball goes out of play and you run up to press only to be then put into a default fashion. It is particulary annoying when you are chasing the game. It has always been in the game, it is the same with free kicks players automatically go into "default" position. It's a small thing as I say but so infuriating when chasing the game.

Problem two is the R3 runner you press only for your player to lollipop and then be tackled or the chance is then gone. It gets annoying its basically the same problem which existed with PES 2012

Next problem is being able to highlight a specific player during corners and free kicks. It is abused and it makes it far easier to score from a corner or create a goal scoring opportunity.

My last problem that I have spotted is that superstar is easy. I haven't tried it on any other difficulty yet but from what you guys have been saying is that top player seems to be more challenging.

Other than that I can't really speak of any other gameplay problems which is quite something after last years farce. Good work getting most of it right Konami.

I do have other problems with the game such as the tactics. We have not been given enough choices when it comes to editing tactics. I want to be able to do more. I don't want to be overloaded, it is not football manager after all but I would like different options to play about with.

There is still no wing backs in the game is problem number 2. The wing back still exists Konami. I am still unclear as to why you took it away from the game.

Problem 3 has to this letter rating system I still don't like it but I have to give them credit this time around. At least this year you can see the full players attributes on the screen instead of having to go through them individually like last year.

The main problem is undoubtedly the rating system. This is definetly my biggest problem with the game. Italy rated the best team in the demo by quite a margin. Players like Gomez (77) badstuber (79) Khedira (78) are seriously under rated. You can perhaps overlook this point as these guys can be edited.

Oh and another point why can't you add more skillcards for keepers? Such skillcards could be -
Command - which would mean they command there 18 yard box and try to claim more crossed balls.
Throw - Would mean certain keepers could throw the ball further and more accurately giving teams more chance of a better faster counter.

The keepers skillcards as they stand are no big problem I guess. It would be nice to see others like the two I mentioned.

A small constructive criticism:

- Alternative kits. We have Home and Away kits sure, but what about a potential third kit? I see no harm in it, or even the possibility of 'mixing and matching' depending upon the colours of your opponents.

As I say, it's really minor, but it's also a nice personal touch that was removed a few years back. I sometimes feel as though Konami just remove features, so that when they're implemented again at a later date, they receive 'praise'.

Ah, well that I do know about. That was put to Konami in the form of a Q&A earlier this year, the mixing and matching of kits was removed due to licensing, essentially fully licensed kits had to appear as they were. Daft I know.

My other bit of advice would be get rid of the rating system, bring back the nostalgic hexagon and let's get on with life.

Someone needs to show this list to Jon Murphy...

Pes 13 has real potential, and its the first pes game since long that I feel this way, it could end up being an amazing game, but in this 1st demo there are some obvious flaws that need to be adressed, maybe not all of them but if they adress a bounch of these flaws then pes 13 will be absolutely amazing.

- The single biggest bad thing is the way the AI attacks you, which is they rush you and counter you like mad often losing the ball in the process of this madness, instead of building the play up and passing around, I think I never saw anyone pass the ball backwards from the AI.
They need to have some variety in their play, when i play barca against the AI I don't want to see them playing counter attacking rushing football all the time, I want them to play posession football.
Why do all teams play the same way?
Why do we have those tactics like long ball, posession etc... if they don't affect the AI at all..
They also have only very few limited ways of trying to get to the goal, crossing or pinpoint through balls.
I really hope KONAMI makes the AI actually play better and smarter football.

- The AI players still get major stat boost on higher difficulty, why not just make them play better as a team instead of boosting individual stats?

- The ball feels too slow and floaty when the keeper throws it far ahead, alltho this feauture is a good thing they should increase the speed of that throw a bit.

- Need an option to go full manual, for example if I want to have manual passing only there needs to be an option to enable that so I don't have to press LT everytime I want to make a manual pass.

- When the opposing keeper has the ball you still have to jog, I should be able to sprint if I want whenever I want, should be fixed and its easy to fix it.

- The AI seems unrealisticaly good from free kicks, but maybe its just a good run, still not 100% sure about this, others can offer some feedback on this if they can.

- Player switching is a bit of an issue

- Players running on rails is still present alltho less than pes 12, still I would really like this to be removed alltogether. Overall there is still this feeling that u have to be fighting the game instead of playing it because ur forced to do something u don't want to do at times.

- Shoots seem too accurate and strong, even with players with average shooting stats

- Ref sucks, you get easy yellow cards while the AI gets almost no yellow cards even tho its a blatant foul, also the ref seems to not tell the difference between a shocking slide tackle and a not so bad one as you always get a yellow card in either case.

- Stamina problem, players can run like crazy whole game long and still be normal in the 85th minute, its a problem because if in real life a player would run almost all match like crazy he would be completely exhausted by the 80th minute and much less effective and unable to keep sprinting still like if he was fresh.

- Night games look bad

- Lack of atmosphere.

Some of the criticism on this thread is pretty daft, I do like the game overall, the only problem I have with it, is sometimes it's hard to beat the last defender. Picking things out like certain players hitting long shots, and the general lighting, is a little bit stupid to me. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, however I enjoy the demo the way it is, and remember, things like lighting should, and could, be sorted for the game launching.

I had that problem ... then I watched the tutorial on tricks, honestly if you've got a decent dribbler you can nutmeg the last defender as soon as he tries to close you down.

What I've found tricky is lobbing the goalkeeper, they rush out so quickly to close the angle down, unless I'm spot on down low quickly, they tend to smother the ball, no issue with that but I might need to work on the lobbing skills!

I hope they include a tutorial for some of the moves or a training session to harness them.

It is happening again
A little nitpick regardin the goalies - has been an issue for a long time in PES games. When you play a through ball, and it's a chase between you and the goalie, the goalie will always seem to get it, they'll never cock up their timing and not get there in time, or hesitate either.

Lobbing will take a bit of getting used to, as it isn't effective on any of the PES series since the next gen consoles came out. Just need to practice more I suppose, and get a general feel for using the lob. I just hope it's not easy to master. Online will be painful if people master it too easy, although the players are easier to catch with defenders in this one it seems.

Problem with corner and free kicks is easy , only thing that konami should do is to let us control goalkeeper during dead ball situations in online games as we can in matches against computer( L1+R3 ).

I agree that it should be more options for tactics, but I guess that wing backs are players with offensive full back card, because when you play without lmf and rmf and you have this kind of player on lb or rb they really make runs more than regular backs or those without a skill card.

You could see the same layout of attributes in last years game ,but I can't remember what button you should press to get that layout when you open player's menu.

Germany goalkeeper has skill card for long throw.

Ratings are always going to be a problem, but I think that all other players are over rated and that those you mentioned are just fine, because I don't believe that anybody should be 99 on the game in overall rating , reason for that is that I find more interesting and really close to real football when I play with weaker teams with my mates.

Finally , my opinion is that the biggest problem is that players crash into a player from the same team, that is something that you really can't see in real football, STILL there is no doubt in my mind that I'm going to by new pes.

just a suggestion, have you tried executing the lob by using the circle button. by using manual settings you should be able to place it over the keeper.

Just scored a great finesse shot from outside the box with Carrol, and the keeper had no chance. I'm just starting to get worried if players with curl and accuracy under 75 can master those shots as it'll be a problem online.
Also, I agree night time matches are horrible but their are enough people telling KONAMI that so fingers crossed the contrast will improve in time for the next demo.

Also, KONAMI have revealed they have a nice little surprise tomorrow on their Facebook page. I wonder what it is :jack:

They've already stated the default team list and are going to reveal licenses at Gamescom so I'm thinking its something else. Hopefully its not something like 'Try out PES at Gamescom by winning free tickets' because I cannot be arsed to do that. It could be some patch for the demo to increase the teams or match time

The problems I have found with the demo, that I'd like them to work on are:

Goalkeepers on humn controlled teams, are poor. Like to the point where they rarely save anything. Also if you pull your goalkeeper out to close the shooting angles, he has a tendancy to dive forwards, and thus over the ball. It's stupid. So please, make the human team goalkeepers as good as the cpu team goalkeepers. As they're quite capable.

Secondly the cpu is overly accurate with freekicks. Scoring most of them. It's cheap and unrealistic.

Thirdly, the referees are awful. They call freekicks that aren't freekicks. They don't call freekicks that are freekicks. And I've not seen a player given a straight red yet, regardless of the fact that I've had players taken out by the last defender going through on goal etc.

And finally another point in reference to referees, is they don't care about anything that happens off the ball, short of you sliding someone from behind. The number of times I've attempted a 1-2 only for the original passer to be taken out making his run, thus completely ruining the attacking play. In a real game challenges like that warrant a yellow card.
