Dry is a good way of putting it. I think i dont like them mainly due to the fact they're really unrealistic. Like alot of players for each are nothing like their real life counterpart.

Barca:

Inesta - Good at nothing really and isnt very agile
Henry - Runs/moves absolutely nothing like him and his model isnt up to scratch imo
Yaya - He is way to stiff and cant move and he should be quality at passing but isnt

Liverpool:

Carragher - Too stiff and runs really poorly
Aurelio - Possibly the worst representation of a player ever.
Glen Johnson - Isnt fast enough and isnt stocky enough
Mascherano - Is nowhere near fast enough and isnt agile
Kuyt - One of Liverpool lynchpins but in the game is uttlery useless at practically everything
Babel - Aguably one of the quickest players in Britain yet has only 86,86 for his speed not to mention his shot power is unbelievable but weak in game
Benayoun - Isnt very good at dribbling even though he's almost as good as messi weaving in and out of people.

I have to agree to be honest. Kuyt doesnt do jack and neither does Babel. I guess editing Liverpool's formation would probably make a difference, might have a go at that.

Saying that, has anyone noticed that when the formations come up in the opening scenes for a match, they are completely wrong??

Just downloading the we11 demo now, hope to see the improvments.:)

and yes i agree about the liverpool squad, as a Liverpool suppourter i want to use them more often than not, but some of the stats are not up to scratch i agree.

I finally got a hold on the WE demo yesterday and kicked the ball around for a couple of matches. I must say that I'm positively "impressed". Impressed is maybe a bit far-fetched - but I'm lacking other words for it. ;o)
I really do like it. It feels a lot more of the old days on the PS2. My biggest gribe though is: I can't help but feel and think that this is the game that Konami should have made back in 2008 or at least last year. In that perspective I can't quite figure out if I think it's worth it this year, because I think, that they still need some (IMO) very fundamental things to give the game some "spark", "drive" and "energy". (It's had to explain - but I'll try...). I like the hardness/difficulty of the game. I find it very hard to tackle compared to FIFA this year. Very challeging and good. Just all in all I find PES more of a challenge this year. I played a couple of games of FIFA afterwards - and I really got amased at how "easy" it suddenly became. I play at the medium difficulty and have semi set on shooting and passing - everything else is on manual. In FIFA I suddenly won EVERY tackle (very much to my own surprise...). Also I kind of started to get the feel of a more "arcady" feel...?! I don't think that FIFA is arcady - but it somehow felt different on me - after I played the WE demo.

But damn - PES still lacks some stuff! The goalkeepers made owngoals and other very unnatural mistakes during my matches. I got the feeling that no matter how good I'll get at this game - I will always be prone to losing - 'cause of bad keeper behavior.
The graphics are good - no doubt. But the fluidness in animations and the fluidness overall in the gameplay just isn't good enough! Here I personally think that FIFA is head and shoulders above. It's just more fluid to play and look at. (That dosen't make it a better game - that's not what I'm saying).
Then there are all the small details that just add up in the end. I personally really-really like the finess shooting in FIFA. Only fault: you score too many goals with it... Also the "trigger a players forward run" is much more responsive and effective in FIFA than in PES/WE. It's better in the WE demo than the PES demo though - thank God!
And finally I can't help but really (and I mean REALLY) miss how you can use your body for batteling/scrambling over the ball in FIFA. It's just so nice to use and look at. And I can't help but feel that it's such a fundamental part of a real football match - that there's no excuse for Konami NOT to have implemented it in their game!!!
And then the fact that the 360 dribble is IMO much better implemented in FIFA than in WE/PES.

But overall I couldn't help but feel (for the first time since the release of last years installments) that I actually found it a tiny bit more enjoyable playing the WE demo than the FIFA ditto... Mainly because I found FIFA a tad "too easy" compared to WE...?!?

Don't if any of the above made sence - but I tried anyhow.. ;o)

Are you talking about triggering a run in a normal 1-2 or are you talking about triggering a run for a 3rd player who hasn't touched the ball for a few passes?

If you are talking about a player who hasn't "touched the ball for a few passes" then how do you do this in PES/WE? I can do it in FIFA/[FIFA demo] no problem but what button do you press in PES/WE to do this?

Yeah - I'm talking about triggering a 3rd player. On the Xbox (which I'm playing) I use the same button as for the 1-2 combination. (Just like in FIFA). In earlier PES instalments this used to be much more effective and responsive. This year it's hardly noticable. In the PES demo it didn't work at all. But yesterday playing the WE demo - I believe - it worked. But not as agressive as it used to?! Don't know why really - as I find it a key movement in building your attacks in PES.

Ok! I've played PES for some years now (I'm on the 360 now as well) and never knew you could do this! In fact PES has always annoyed me because I thought it's never assigned a button to do this! Doh! :)

Thanks for that FIORE_FAN.

Cheers for the opinions Fiore_Fan! :)

I haven't had a chance to play either demo so I appreciate your views. From speaking to you in the past I know you were impressed with Fifa 09 and we both thought it did a lot of things better than PES 2009.

The fact that you said you really enjoyed the WE demo is great to hear though, cos it sounds like that is very similar to the final code of PES 2010 :)

I've decided to stick with PES this year and I'm really hoping all of the positive things I'm hearing about the WE demo are true.

I know what you mean about the keepers making mistakes. It's so frustrating (In PES 09 anyway) but I think I prefer this to Fifa's unbeatable keepers. In Fifa 09, whenever I cut in from an angle and blasted it as hard as I could, or even tried placing it, the keeper always held it, or pushed it behind for a corner. I found this a bit unrealistic. PES keepers may make stupid mistakes but at least they aren't unbeatable from a certain angle.

Ive just played 3 games on the WE demo and then i played 1 match of the fifa 2010 demo. Ive come to the conclusion that Pes is so much better in fundemental ways. For example the ball. In pes when i pass, shoot, head or w/e the ball travels at a realistic momentum. When i blast a shot it feels realistic as when someone in real life does the same thing the balls travels at a similar pace. In fifa though the ball used to feel like a balloon. Only now its like someone put a 1 gram weight in it and thought that would translate into realism. A fundemental part of a footy sim is the ball physics and imo pes hands down wins in that catogory. Mainly though the ball physics suck in fifa. Im shooting right now and it is so poor. The ball doesnt move slow but its slow enough to stop you getting excited about hitting it and the end product is always boring and drab. Its just so unsatisfying and there seems to be so many predetermined outcomes when i strike it.

Passing in pes aswell. When i try a 20 yard through ball down the wing the guy punts it hard and then the ball graually slows down as it reaches the players path and it looks beautiful when they come off. In fifa the ball moves at the same semi realistic pace from the moment it leaves your not to scale foot until it reaches the player without really changing. In total the ball physics make fifa unenjoyable for me. Fifa doesnt feel to scale. In fifa players feel tiny. When im using somone it feels like it would take about 20 mins to reach the other side of the pitch. Its like the borrowers ffs. Everything seems like its small. The goals feel like hockey goals and everything i guess just feels not to scale. The fans/stadia look really cheap and poor whilst your playing. Im growing tired of fifa's graphics, style of football and ball physics and now pes has found it way again i dont think ill ever go back.

I am alot more impressed with the Winning Eleven game, response times and animations are much beter! I still have a few complaints with the game, but im hoping there will be a bit of tweaking done on the final game.

With the pes demo, i thought fifa 10 was more fun to play, but the winning eleven demo blows it out of the water, Fifa is still a decent game but the Winning 11 demo highlights why i buy pro everyyear.

Just played a few more games on the WE demo. The through balls are really spoiling my enjoyment now, first it was the keepers on the PES demo now this. *grumble*

i have noticed that when you use the sprint button with trhogh balls they work better, have also used the directional anolgue stick which worked well also.

I've played PES/ WE since "Goal Storm" for PS1 and fell in love with it for many years. I've already downloaded and played PES2010 and WE2010. Here are my quick feedback:

I do agree that WE is a bit better than PES in term of response but what I think KONAMI should improve/ change are two things:

Firstly, the ball physic- I feel like the ball bounces too much on the pitch which makes the player difficult to control it. Sometimes, it looks like I kick "Basketball" instead.

Second, the penalty system. I really don't like it in this side-view.

Hope these can be fixed in the final version.

I also played it and I think all people who did it, too, will say that the Winning Eleven Demo is much better than the European PES Demo!

I've been playing the WE demo for a while now and even though it is better than the PES demo, i am still getting rather frustrated with the through balls and player responses! To the point where i do what i usually do and punch my own thighs when something retarded happens :(

OMFG!!

I was messi and Maicon was running at me. He quickly darted at a 20 degree angle to go past me and i slid in and fouled him from the front. He then did a flying squirrel dive and got Messi sent off! You bastard Maicon lmao. It was a blatent dive.
