Does Anyone Else Think They've Ruined ML?

Every team plays the same in pes 2012. Only difference is the pace of the game. Even Barcelona plays long balls and their wingers can't just pass the ball in to the box - ALL back/wingers in the game has to stop and turn before they cross it for some stupid reason.
And every player can shoot free kick (apart from them i control of course) Keepers are shite and why cant i shoot like the cpu can? Shooting is by far the most annoying thing this year. I've found myself losing or getting a draw so many times because i have a clear shooting chance from just outside the box, no one pressuring me, so of course i aim to one of the sides and shoot only to see the ball end up straight in to the keepers hands.

Its kinda funny. after starting my 5th ML. I trow in the towel for a while. The thing with this pes is you cant play it for too long. ML is to scripted. ill keep playing it ones a while or in a few months again. but for now im hooked to a EA game lol. Madden 12 pretty sweet game tho. Still i hope konami gets his stuff together with this new engine, and gives us a game worth getting lost in.

^ Definetely hope so as well. Right now i'm addicted to BAL all though it feels kinda.. well i hate to use the s-word but it feels a little predetermined like ML) :)

I've tried & tried to like PES 12, but I just can't. There are so many obvious flaws, which many of you have mentioned, that instead of making it a fun, entertaining experience, it turns into frustration. I've found myself turning more and more to FIFA 12 (can't believe I would ever admit this after being such a loyal PES guy), but Konami has done such a "jacked up" job with this latest edition I don't have any hope for PES 13. I find much more enjoyment with PES 11, and would go as far as saying that it may be the best edition so far for the new consoles (XBox 360 & PS3). I hope Seabass or one of his cronies reads these forums, because his baby needs a major overhaul. FIFA experimented with a new defensive system, however it kept the classic option available, which is wonderful - why couldn't Konami do this?
I will remain optimistic that our old classic will return to it's once great form, but for now it's just rubbish.

Some players want to talk to you....

"Why are you not playing me?"

"I needed to rest you for another match."

"Ok I underdstand!"

Aweful.

"I have some team improvements to report"

No improvements. Pointless.

Tactical advice...with no advice...woeful

10 very repetitive songs. Irritating

Then there's the football. Or is it football? I dont want a difficulty level, where rubbish teams can outplay my Real Madrid team and open me up with a single pass. I don't want a counter attack to be ruined by the fact you cannot dribble the ball with any pace and yet the opponents move like Messi. I don't want to shoot against Superman and the cpu seeming to have 11 attackers and 11 defenders constantly surrounding your limited number of motionless players.

I want FOOTBALL. So I'm reverting to Sensible World of Soccer thanks. At least they knew how to entertain. PES 2012 makes me angry, upset, irritated, frustrated and generally down and feeling like I wasted my time turning it on.

You are completely correct. Having played through 4 seasons on Master league I can tell you not only have they ruined the ML, they've ruined Pro Evolution Soccer. I shall'nt be buying it ever again. Over to Skyrim until someone makes a football game coz this aint football.

I hated PES 2012 when i started playing...the AI definately cheats on the harder difficulties...BUT, played on regular and enjoying the experience, you're able to dictate the pace of the game like the old pes versions, it's more realistic as opposed to harder difficulties and to be quite honest, why would you want to frustrate yourself by playing against unrealistic AI? to prove what?...play ML on regular, check it out..but i think a lot of you get drawn into playing the way the AI plays in order to beat the AI.....put it on regular, play your style and enjoy the experience....forget the flaws, just go along with it, enjoy the ride...enjoy the game for what it is, a "representation" of the REAL thing.

I agree. I play games to relax, so why play a game on a difficulty level that gets you raging and wanting to snap your controller? If I'm good enough at a game to play it on hard levels, then I will, but on PES, I've been torn apart by poor teams on harder levels loads of times, coz if the CPU wants to score/dribble past you/stop you from scoring, it will, and there's nothing you can do about it no matter how good of a player you are...why subject yourself to that?

I've noticed it with BaL especially. It seems like as you move up the difficulty, the opposition players get better in relation, but your AI teammates remain at the same retarded level throughout, so your team gets completely outplayed by some of the weakest sides in the league :realmad:

Even though I've played a lot of PES, I play most of my games on Regular, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I can play my own style of football, and stand a chance of scoring some decent goals in the process, while it still retains a level of challenge. I don't wanna spend every game chasing shadows, and having to be satisfied with the odd scrappy goal, while getting destroyed by a poor team

yes, the first time I played on professional...I remember I was controlling Nani and the AI player was John Terry...with a yard on Terry, Terry was able to catch up to me...I mean that was ridiculous...so I took a break, played other games, but I had this void, that these games were so linear, after a while it gets boring, so I decided to play PES again...but this time on "regular"...much much better. But like a lot of people say on this topic, Konami has to improve the overall experience of the ML, the player stats, we need to be able to see how players are developing...do away with the chairman...it's just the little things that need to be tweaked. Have any of you played FIFA 12? and if so, as a pes fan, how does it compare to pes 2012?

I played a lot of FIFA 10 & 11 on the Xbox (PES on PS3) as I know a lot of people who play FIFA, so it was a chance to play online with them. I don't know many people who play PES, and I'm not brave enough to play it online against people I don't know in case I turn out to be nowhere near as good as I thought I was :D

FIFA is ok, there's some nice touches to it, like the range of tricks, Ultimate Team, and the lower leagues (which is great for a Crewe Alex fan), but something just never felt right about it. A lot of actions on FIFA seem to fit into 2 categories - it either works every time, or it never works, so I never felt like I was fully in control of what I was doing, and a lot of attacking moves felt more like luck than skill when they actually came off. I played a bit of FIFA 12, but I didn't like it. A lot of the attacking play was pretty much identical to the previous versions, but the defending is terrible. You have time your challenges to the exact millisecond, or your player ends up completely out of the game, or even on his face, just from a simple attempt to stick your foot out. This can leave gaping holes in your team for people to walk through (bearable if the person you're playing against is doing the same thing, but not so much if you're up against a decent player, or the CPU, which never puts a foot wrong)

I find PES gameplay as a whole, while not perfect by any stretch, feels more free-flowing and open. I'm sure I'm not telling you anything here you don't know already, but the AI movement off the ball (which doesn't happen in FIFA, unless you program it to do it), albeit a bit shaky at times, allows you to set up some good build up play and attacking moves, and you feel like a decent goal is a product of your own ability. You can have much more exciting games with other people on PES, unlike FIFA, where I've lost count of the number of 0-0's I've had with my friends coz you can't make things happen no matter how hard you try. As we've said, you play games to have fun and relax, and yeah, you want your football game to be realistic, but not so much so that you're playing out 17 consecutive goalless draws

FIFA started to make breakthroughs when EA borrowed elements of PES (like the tricks, dummied shots/crosses, chipped through balls, which all originated in PES) and put them into their own games, which Konami should be proud of, as it shows they were doing things right once upon a time. If they take what they know works, and sort out some of the changes they've made that haven't worked out, instead of leaving them in and hoping that new features might mask or counteract them, who knows, we might have a next gen version of PES4 or 5 on our hands, which were great efforts

I love the ML, always have. The challenge and enjoyment of starting a new game with the default ML players (Castolo up front, every time :)) and building your squad up, but the cheating AI and some of the elements in this years' version (stop having reserve players coming to see you every 5 mins complaining about not playing, I have enough of that on Football Manager!), have made it frustrating where it doesn't need to be. Agree that you want to see how players are developing, and have some player interaction as the manager, but there a fundamental parts of it that need to be looked at before they start throwing extra management features in that make it a chore to play at times

lets be honest, the edit mode has saved this game for years.. the 2012 version is the one, the one that tipped me... fifa from now on. so disapointed, gutted.. dj campbell, out jumps cabaye and coloccini then spreads it wide to wright phillips, takes it to the corner past 2 or 3 players, lays it off, just outside the box for taarabt to score a 37 yard thunderbolt.... and it's goodnight from me.... no more dunne having rooney in his pocket, no more luke young holding on to the ball like he's messi, no more colback dominating the midfield, no more n'zogbia being 87.....
ive played this since pes4 on the playstation 2, and i have watched as it got worse and worse, the 'megafactories' series about fifa was the final nail for pes. so thank you for the years of playing against my mates with complete enjoyment, then the frustration of never being able to have a fair, realistic game against the computer, whatever mode. oh and the new ML, laughable...

This mode just like the game itself takes 2 steps forwards 3 leaps back..........sometimes it plays fantastically but majority of the time its so bug ridden its infuriating! I can usually knock out 10-15 seasons on previous series but this one ive started 6 seperate ml's and cant summon up the enthusiasm to play beyond 3 seasons! Its just not fun havin ai cheat just not fun having nearly every game finish high scoring including the cpu results are a joke............qpr beat chelsea 7-6 in 1 game thats a highly unrealistic scoreline!!
In europe while i like thats it tougher every groupstage ive played in has to go down to the last game! Cutscenes get boring after the 1st season.....players giving out coz they dont play 1 game......training is awful and the creme de la creme if you get sacked be it in your 1st or 15th season you have to start again absolute genius whoever thought of that!! I love this game at times but ive grown up always loving this game but as long as konami keep going at it half-assed its going to get worse im afraid!

Off the pitch, the one biggest failure is definitely the training system. Like the now dribble-friendly gameplay, it's clear that PES is now catering to casual gamers who don't give a flying toss to player development. At the very least we should be able to choose between the old and new system.

As for the cutscenes, I wish they can streamline the whole thing. Cutscenes are not necessary, just make it a usual menu you can access like Communication. Now, I agree that players complaining are annoying, but the idea isn't that bad. The same is true with that God damn chairman, but I think the point is you can't always do things perfectly—there will always be prima donna players and stupid bosses. I accept these as additions. I mean, it's the execution that's transparently half-assed. The ideas are fine.

Forms are not as random as many of you suggested. It does take 4-5 days, but whenever I'm too lazy I would tell the players to train "condition" and I will be flooded with red arrows.

So, apart from training, ML isn't that bad. Well, with training, it is bad. But the point is, what's broken with the game for me is the controls.

This started with PES 2010... That feeling when you realise that slowly, you're not in control of your game anymore. Players are not so much "controlled" as "shepherded". It's like, when you're not controlling them directly, they wander about in the most stupid routed imaginable. Yeah it's frustrating to play Super Star, but the frustration is not so much in the opponents' slick passes, but your players being dumber than a sack of hammers.

How many times does it happen? A player could have picked up a loose ball, but instead retreated to his position. Two players could have picked up the ball, but then go "you do it" to each other, and in the end an opponent gets it instead. Players successfully dispossessing the opponent, but then spin around, losing balance, and the opponent gets the ball again. Or, when you specify a direction for a pass and there are two players who can receive it, the player chooses to give it to the one surrounded by defenders rather than a free one. Or simply players fucking running into each other.

Stuck at Professional now for the first time in 12 years. I have no motivation to train at Top Player or Super Star.

Ive just had 4 of the most frustrating scripted games in a row with my spurs ml team. Im top of the table by 6 points with a very healthy goal difference and im playing qpr at home who i beat 6-0 in 1st game. Im all over them and just before half time i score. 2nd half continues the same way but now i can feel my players turning to crap not being able to pass shoot or defend with any conviction! From the 75th min on qpr fire in 5 goals 1 where my defender chases a through ball but stops allowing the striker in to score then from 2 corners comes 2 og's then a long range effort which i thought was good until i saw the replay and my keeper is looking the opposite way as the shot comes in!!! The 5th goal being an injury time free kick which the ai got from that slow dribble they do!! They had 3 shots on goal but scored 5!!
Next up REal Madrid in cl semi finals once again i take the lead after 5 mins and i dominate the game away from home but real bombard me with through balls twice my keeper coming out at weird angles running away from balls once my defender stops running and for the 4th goal i give away a penalty coz i was fuming! Anyway i pull 2 goals back in 2nd half leaving it 4-3 and still with a chance.
Next in the league is man city away i dominate for 60 minutes but once again my players are unable to finish i even had an open goal but instead of tapping in neymar hits it at the goalie whos lying on the ground 2 yards wide of the post!! City get 5 goals in 20 minutes 3 scrappy goals where my players dont respond to my command to clear 1 og and 1 free kick...city had 4 shots on goal and scored 5 i had 15 shots but got none! Im now 3rd level on points but in 2 games my goal difference wiped out as Liverpool an man utd record emphatic wins in their 2 games!
2nd leg cl semi finals i go behind to another thru ball where my defender stops and benzema rounds the keeper..from now on i feel a change i can control my players their passing shooting and defending again! Befor half time i rattle in 3 goals leaving me 6-5 ahead on agg! I dominate the early stages of 2nd half looking for 2 goal cushion hit the bar and the post! So from 60th minute on wards i go defensive as even if they a goal im winning on away goals! 4 through balls later 2 where my goalie rushes out even tho benzema is covered once where kaka shoots and hits post and in off the keeper and once where my defender who while running back knocks it past my keeper leads to them scoring 4! Fulltime score 5-3 and 9-6 on agg!!
Am i just very unlucky or have i been raped by scripting......if i had equipment to make videos off it i would have just to show ye how laughable this game can be!
Also in the other semi final napoli beat Liverpool 6-0 at anfield with Liverpool winning 7-1 in the return leg!! PLEASE KONAMI STOP THE STUPIDITY!!

UTOPIA! Like an old pair of jeans, PES has regained my faith in it. The past week I continued to toy & toy with different teams, also took part in the challenges and looked at other sites for help and guidance on why I just wasn't enjoying PES12 that much. Low and behold, it came like a cascade - my aggravations wasn't so much with game as it was with my inability to master the L2 (PS3) button (which by the way is a HUGE benefit). This "little" button on my controller was sooooo underutilized and such and easy fix for me. I now pass, move and defend so much better that it has completely changed my perspective and am now enjoying the beauty that is this game. I play on Professional, -2 speed, 10 min. matches on ML. My current team is Wearside and I'm in D2. I now get the perfect balance I've wanted to achieve with this game. I don't win every match, but I know now that if I lose, it's not scripting, it's my inability to be in the right position. I have less quibbles with this game, then before, not including shooting and the occassional teammate stuck in mud, however my appreciation has grown and now will look forward to PES13. I encourage all of you who have had difficulty, inconsistency turn to anger to find your balance, so that you too, can enjoy this game.
