I've long been a fan of pes, since the first pro evolution on ps2. Every year we would buy each installment, play and have fun. That changed for me in 2008/9 when I tried FIFA 09. It was everything I wanted of a 'next-gen' footy game, so has been faithful to FIFA for the past couple of years now.
I downloaded both demos at the same time, but was more eager to play pes as I didn't know what to expect. Sooo I did the opposite n played FIFA first.... Had a game, pinpoint passes, nice goals, felt like a pro. Mission done.
On pes, I played it and I was shit! I didn't enjoy the passes going out for throw-ins all the time, every tackle was a foul, and the shooting felt like I was using a jabulani!!.... I loved it! I loved the fact that I had to THINK before pressing the pass button! Learned the values of good defensive positioning so not to face the referees rath and shooting... I support arsenal so usually pass the ball into the net
.
For me, the freedom of the passing is the best bit, just like when you watch tv and a cb spreads the ball outwide to a fb (a few paces ahead of him) that can be done. It's completely different to a through pass.
All in all I'm glad pes is back! FIFA is (as always) better presented, but the customisation options, along with flexibility of play, + new animations wins me over! Both good games (competition this year will make pes/fifa12 better) but I'll be getting pes
