FIFA 11 demo v pes 11 demo

As I said before, this year it seems that both games are good FINALLY.
Both have their ups and downs.
Fifa's fluidity and flow of animations is unmatched, but in pes I really feel the teams especially with the passing. The individuality is much greater in pes.
I scored a goal in pes where xavi picked out messi from the central midfield with a lofted all and messi side footed it home like he does in reality. It felt so real.
So I am undecided at the moment.
At the moment I am playing pes demo more because it surprised me especially the passing.

I didn't expect mixed reactions in a PES forum after that terrific demo (PES 11) was released.

I have only tried the PES demo I like it bar the "floaty" controls (I can't quite place a finger on it) and the rather sensitive Ref.

It would be silly to have 2 football games even though both appear are great.

Is FIFA 11 really that good guys? Honestly?

^Since next gen fifa was just better and this year both are different so that's why the reactions.
But now, it's the first time that both are good.
The only thing keeping fifa on the race this year will be the animations and fluidity. Or be a keeper but that's just a mode.
But apart from that, fifa alo lacks in some key areas such as individuality (pro passing??? everyone passes more or less the same). The defending in fifa is WAYY too easy. Spam the pressure button and bam you have the ball. In pes 11 demo it requires timing and closing down first.
These are some things that pes 11 will have the edge in.
So as I said, where one lacks, the other accels. That's why both are good this year.

The passing system is great! I can kick the ball almost anywhere. I think also the master league online will be interesting. Yes I think this year PES is greatly improved

Oh man this sucks.

I was one of the few that was happy when one was good and the other bad. Now that both games are good I can't make up my bloody mind!

Fifa sucks because it hasn't changed much since 2004. You still score the same type of crappy goals. To the penalty spot and pull back for a tap in. Or 1 on 1 and you slot it in. The game sucks so bad its unreal. Now i do appreciate the commentary. But Jesus Christ, the commentary was great in 2002!, who gives a flying fuck about the commentary. Somebody's gonna comment "i do" well then buy the fucking game then. God damn. People say"Fifa doesn't suck, because its improving". But it sucks because its still the same old shit. They need to COMPLETELY revamp the whole playing style. From running, to passing, to positioning, to shooting, to everything. The game sucks ass. Pro evo this year is gonna take its crown back.

Fifa is terrible, normally i let other people have their opinions but if you think fifa is a notch above pro evo your a fool

Well those fools decide each year which 1 is king, and well they decided that FIFA is king again for another year. PES2011 is a decent game and its closer than ever this year, but unfortunately it don't take back its crown! :crymore:

I guess the opinion of a fool is more important than yours!! eeek, what does that make u??

FIFA 2011 is basically FIFA 2009.2 whereas 2010 was 2009.1. In other words FIFA is basically the same every year, and I'm getting tired of the crappy AI, and the crowded pitches and the lack of FREEDOM like you get in PES 2011. PES 2011 absolutely destroys FIFA this year, especially with the new passing system. All FIFA has going for it is the practise thing, and even that is getting old (I have FIFA 2010).

BELIEVE
PES:

  • The game generally seems to promote good football. You really need to make a good flowing movement to get the ball into a shooting position. There's much less defensive AI mistakes (i.e. completely leaving players unmarked, etc).
  • The new passing system is great. It's much harder and will take some getting used to, but it's all for a more dynamic and challenging game.
  • Animations are much better. More variety and generally more fluid.
  • WTF have they done to the shooting? I've been playing the demo none-stop since it came out so I don't think it's a case of 'just get used to it'. With the standard power I'd use in previous games the ball seems to just fly over the bar more often than not, then with a little less pressure they don't seem to hit it hard enough. PES's shooting was one of the best features, why change it...
  • The refereeing seems way too harsh, and there's no advantage which completely slows down the play and ruins any fluidity.

There has been hundreds of times were i've come at an opponent from the side to put in a standard conservative tackle, take all of the ball before the man, but then as the player follows through to collect the ball he makes contact with the player and the ref blows. It's REALLY frustrating.

FIFA:

I'm not going to go into detail, but FIFA once again seems like a very polished and good quality game. There are much less annoyances, and the football is all very good.

One main flaw is there personality+ and 360 passing. PES does both of these things better than fifa. 360 passing seems restricted rather than free. And as for P+, you can put centre backs up front and your keeper in midfield and they'll still knock it around like xavi and iniesta.

I prefer PES and think its gameplay is better and more rewarding in the long-run. Fifas play style seems too same-y to me, and I think I'll get bored of it pretty soon.

However, I do think that from an objective point of view FIFA is the better game. It's hard to explain. It seems more refined and finely-tuned, where PES is still a bit raw, but that's to be expected. Afterall, PES was pretty much revamped and fifa didn't change a whole lot. I don't think the creators expected pes2011 to beat fifa this time round anyway, they even mentioned this being a base to improve on, and they've done very well at that.

Couldn't agree more.

FIFA looks and feels more polished and refined as you said, but there seems to be less enjoyment in the game. There's something about PES 2011, I feel quite addicted, I must have played over 20 matches on the demo and I'm really having a great time - even if the shooting is questionable at times, and I suck at the game in general at the moment.

I agree with you as well on the point you make about FIFA probably going to lack longevity. That tends to be the case I find. Sure it's a solid game with little flaw in the actual gameplay, but it tends to become quite predictable after a while I feel (or that was the case with FIFA 10 anyway) and the single player modes just don't match up to that of PES in my opinion. FIFA's manager mode isn't bad by any means, but I really don't feel any connection or care for it as I do with Konami's master league. FIFA are really missing a trick by not including a custom original team, which is one of my most cherished joys with PES is the freedom to create a whole team including emblem, team name, kits and now even stadium! It really adds a sense of caring to the career, you feel a connection and identity with the team you've created and for that reason it feels more personal and rewarding when you achieve any feat with them.

I only ever played FIFA 10 online with friends since it was flawless online. However I played PES 2010's master league and single player modes for maybe 4-5 months until I became bored. Still though, that's not a bad return for purely single player gaming. Let us hope that PES can improve upon the online play this year as there's no reason that it shouldn't be perfect in this day and age of online gaming.

Really good post though wallace. Hats off to you. :)

Your missing out the most important mode for old school PES players, the mode that probably ensures us buying FIFA for along time!! CLUBS!!!!!!

oh and Spam the pressure button on any decent player(few i know) will end in you being humiliated!!

I also feel PES has lost some of its player individuality :shocking: where as FIFAs is growing!!!

FIFA:

Pro passing is non existent. Battle for possession is good. Personality+ was only noticable for lampard, drogba and ronaldo. All about refinement from last year. On full manual it's enjoyable in my opinion. I'd give it 8.5

PES:

Short and long passing is great, feels like you can play it anywhere. Shooting and referees, two complaints of alot of people have been great for me. Also felt like there was more individuality.
I don't feel like i can i give it a rating yet. There's the difference between the games.

While i feel like i know everything you can do for fifa after about 10 games it's the opposite for pes. Which is why i'll be playing it a whole lot more.

Not true AT ALL.
I mentioned some positives and negatives.
I can do a full list of them for both games but it would take a really long post.
As for the pressure button in fifa.
That was just an example, but it's defending IS WAY TOO EASY. When I said spam the pressure button, it was just an example. But it's true, that it's way too easy to take the ball. Even the bigggest noob can defend in fifa.
As for individuality. FIFA IS GROWING? Where?
I don't see it. It maybe is slightly better than fifa 10, but the pro passing is a gimmic for sure.
In pes, even though it has much better passing than pes 10, xavi can still make a much better lofted through ball than keita for example. In fifa, they both pass almost the same. What I mean is that there's isn't much of a difference to make an impact.

That said, both fifa and pes are good this year.

Ive not really played PES this much since 08/09 really, the FIRST thing I noticed was individuality was worse!! I can completely feel the improved individuality with FIFA! I wouldnt expect u could, for many reasons.

Your wrong about defending, PES defending has 100% definitely got alot easyer where as FIFA11 is harder than 10, any noob can defend against another noob sure, but any decent player who knows how to play the game will humiliate them.. I can understand where your coming from with defending, I doubt u ever really played a decent player.

You obviously won't agree so I'll just quit it here. different opinions.
But I had a friend come in to my place and he isn't a pro player and he could stop many attacks in fifa with constant pressure and AI pressure.
Anyway as I said, different opinions.

The problem is that ANY NOOB CAN DEFEND WELL AGAINST GOOD PLAYERS.
But as I said. Let's leave it. Different opinions.
