I'm also a little annoyed that I can't fit Ben Arfa into my 4-2-3-1 formation as he's down as an RM rather than CAM, he'd be perfect on the right hand side but it doesn't do well for his chemistry.

I don't like the 4-2-3-1 formation for this reason. Have you considered changing to a formation which does have side mids? You could use 4-4-2, 4-1-2-1-2, 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1. But you may have to sell your team and buy them back again with the new formations as this is cheaper than applying formation cards to everyone.

Position (and formation) modifiers are permanent.

I was in a position where I needed to win one more match in order to win D1. I won the match. Final whistle blew. However, EA decided to give me a DNF. I barely play the game nowadays.

Yeah, I know what you mean - I have periods of weeks/months where I won't touch the game (or even my PS3), but at the moment I'm glued.

Some of the match ups are a bit bizarre though; my Premiership team is decent, but not outstanding or five stars, and I keep getting matched against world beaters in D1. Just beat some guy who's forward line consisted of Ronaldo, Messi and Robben! Ridiculous.

I've played a couple of guys who had Ronaldo and Messi in the same team, with the third player being either Neymar or Di Maria. I beat both of them easily. I'm convinced these guys didn't earn the players, but actually spent real money buying them (either through FIFA Points or eBay).

Does anyone else have a sinking feeling when you see the line up come up and 87 is their weak player? It's not so much an expectation of a loss, more an expectation of a boring game. If they're good, it's going to be one sided and if they're bad it's going to be frustrating as they're rescued by their lightning fast centre backs and cat like keeper. You just know it's not going to be an enjoyable game.

Same goes for the speed whores, I am certain some players will only sign a player if they have pace over 85 or some such.

Definitely, but that's pretty much just online gaming in a nutshell. From the constant cutback tactic in PES, camping at respawn on FPS games, to speed whoreing with unimaginative play in Fifa. While it's not cheating, it can suck the fun out of the game & I bet at least half of the players don't seem to even be playing for enjoyment anymore.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Yeah, they're great to wind up! I actually had a guy message me saying that I 'play like a pussy'... not sure if that means playing better than him? I felt I had to reply to one to wind him up, so I put just Sorry in the title and '...that you're shit.' in the main body, got a torrent of abuse. Juvenile but amusing.

I'm glad someone else holds the same opinion, I started to despair that I was alone in thinking gaming was supposed to be fun. Like you say, if they simply want to sign the best players in the game... that's up to them but it's not for me. There should be some way to select the type of team you play against, i.e. similar level.

I was talking to a mate about this. These games bring out the worst in some people. It almost gives us a warrior mentality. I once replied to one of these comments and asked the guy why he sent a rude comment, rather than something polite (e.g. "good game"). His response was, "I don't know, I just felt like it". I'll be honest, when I play someone online, thoughts about the other guy being cunt run through my mind. My opponent has done nothing but kick-off.

Pretty sure I played a hacked team today. It was an all-Colombian team (no Falcao) and all the players were, to a man, extremely strong, quick and seemed at a far higher level technically than my players - and my players are pretty good. In addition, their keeper didn't have a face. And the skin of one of my players turned into green and blue squares, so it looked like he was wearing a patched-up morphsuit :unsure:

I've come against that, it's ridiculous. Also, pausing as many times as possible and waiting out the full time limit every time. I kind of feel sorry for these kids, but mainly feel the need to stab them with a blunt instrument.

I've had this way too many times. Also, after the match finishes, they won't press X to advance. However, the type of time-wasting I hate the most is when people want to hold on to a win, usually after I've narrowed the lead and put a lot of pressure on in the last ten minutes.

I've had cases where I've been losing 3-0 or 4-0 and my opponent gets too cocky and complacent and I bring the goal difference down to 1, with minutes left. So, they decide to pass the ball back and forth between defence and GK. Some are really good at this and are hard to get the ball off. However, they don't realise the final whistle won't blow until the ball is near the half-way line. One guy was doing this for so long, I had time to send him a message advising him to hoof it upfield, if he wanted to end the game.

Go into my final game needing to win to stay up. Win the final game. Finish the game. EA servers decide that I've lost. I get relegated. Brilliant

My Serie B team (minus Plasmati who I didn't realise was on the bench before I started - no point making substitutions due to contracts) beat the Team of the Week side 5-1 on Ultimate difficulty last week. Guess how many coins I got? :smug:

I've fucking done it! I've finally won FUT D1! :thewave:

There were four matches left and I needed one win to avoid relegation from D1. I won that match and was about to call it a night, thinking there weren't enough games left to win the division. However, I required 9 points out of three matches for the title. I thought I'd keep playing until the season is over, thinking I probably won't win the next game. I won that game 8-3 and got the feeling I might actually do it. I battered the next guy, too. One more win and I finally win D1.

I went into the title deciding match with a mix of confidence and anxiety. Fortunately, I started where I finished and took the lead within the first 10 minutes; and 2-0 came by the half-hour mark. I was undecided as to whether I should sit for the remainder of the game or go for a third, to kill it in the first half. I went for the third and my opponent made it 2-1 just before half-time. I was shakey for the first few minutes of the second half, knowing I have a history of bottling. As predicted, 2-2. I leaped off my seat and was close to punching the wall.

The next 30 minutes was a messy, desperate, end-to-end match with no clear-cut chances. After I had broken down one my opponent's attacks, I swiftly counter-attacked down the left wing. Marcell Jansen had picked up the ball from the half-way line and made a beeline for the corner, for a crossing opportunity. I was hoping he would whip it in for either Miroslav Klose or Mario Gomez. Both strikers were making runs into the box. It was a shit cross, that went straight into the goalie's hands. Gomez didn't stop running and went for the header.....

This is how I won The FUT Division 1 title. I thought that would take the shine off, but after the countless times I had been screwed over by EA, it felt poetic.

Three games to go and 9 points needed to win the title. I now know why Wenger loves mathematical possibilities. :wenger:

Thinking about starting this mode or is it not worth it because it's been out so long and everyone has a top team?
I remember starting Master League online about after a fortnight and it was ridiculous trying to beat teams and earn money with the PES defaults.
