Golly!
I'd given the game a rest for a bit because I have a fairly heavy start to the week. First game back with Liverpool, and my first defeat, away at Marseille. The fans were actually pleased with that. A good positive second half failed to overturn the 2-0 half time defecit I had, 2-1 not an awful result.
However, four days later and Chelsea, who had won their last four, were sitting pretty on top of the table, and the only team in the league except me to be unbeaten (and I'd drawn three games to their one).
I can honestly say that, 40mins in, 0-0 , I didn't expect five goals in the next 20mins of game time - and a good 3-2 lead I had, although I was 3-1 up at one point. I definately didn't expect a Torres long shot, and a Xabi Alonso 40 yarder [empty net] to give me an astounding 5-2 win. Wows!
This was followed by a 1-0 win over Stoke, who have to be the dirtiest team I've ever seen. Incredibly comfortable win, just couldn't score. I actually had 2 at the back for the whole of the second half, when they took off their only striker when Diao got sent off.
I beat Sunderland easily 3-0, finally getting into the groove now... and finally the news I've been waiting for...
A transfer budget of £14m! Already activated the clause in my loan deal for Sneijder, and negotiating a contract with him now. But apparently details of my offer were leaked, so other clubs may be after him.
EDIT: Signed Sneijder for an initial £1m, rising to the agreed £2.5m over the next 24 months.
And in my next game, he celebrated by coming off the bench to score the only goal of the game, with a brilliant free kick, against Marseille in the 87th minute.
