I know I said no England, Italy or Spain but...would Cardiff City be good choice?

Are they backed financially? Is the squad good?

Hardly any financial backing, but the squad is good. You could raise some decent money by selling the current crop of players, and realistically have a great chance of going up.

I agree with Sweey about countries like Ukraine and Russia, as the money involved in those leagues is incredible.

No problems.

I'm going to start a game later, with Leverkusen. They have an excellent squad, and I could probably raise some money to bring in some extra quality. This would be a challenge, as I'd have to compete with the big German teams like Bayern, Werder, Stuttgart, etc.

Nice choice mate.

I need a right back and a winger for my Cardiff, only have £750k to spend. However I'd rather not sell anybody unless the player states he wants to leave.

I've had a £100k offer for Jean-Joel Perrier-Doumbe accepted. Just offered him a contract. I'm very pleased if I get him. A bargain for what he is. EDIT: Signed him :D

Clubs are enquiring for Roger Johnson, who is valued at £750k. In my press conference, it was also mentioned that he is unhappy so he may have to be sold.

Who would be goood signings for my team?

One thing I really like about this game, after a few seasons through the game, when you ask your chairman to look for a feeder club, he gives you the option to pick a club or choose a type of link. If you pick a club, you can pick anyone in the World, and they'll try and get the link done for you.

I've just started my Leverkusen game, and have a transfer budget of 400k. I guess I'll be selling to buy this summer.

EDIT; My transfer dealings for the summer have been completed. I've brought in Thomas Gravesen, Ivan Helguera and Eduardo Costa all on free-transfers. I've also managed to sign Ramires from Cruzeiro, for £400,000 plus £10m if he plays 50 league games for Leverkusen. I nearly signed Fernando Gago in a similar deal from Real Madrid but he joined Valencia instead, as I couldn't afford his high wage demands.

I've only recently got this years one, so I started with Stoke. Been pretty dire so far! In and around the relelgation battle mid-way through February. Results have picked up this month though, and I've closed the gap on getting out of the relegation spots. I almost just jumped out but let a 2-0 lead against Hull slip to draw, meaning I only climb one place. Had my first choice centre-backs both out which contributed to it. :faceplm:

I must say the scouting rebuild has impressed me. I've bought three players off the back of it, and all three are top notch. About a million for the three and they're all making a great impact thus far. Only signing who has been poor is McCulloch so far, and he's been replaced by one of the aforementioned recommended players. Danny Sturridge has been a snip at £950k so far. He's had to be as, despite his excellent performances when he's appeared, Fuller's only been able to make 4 starts because of injuries.

Some of the wages I'm spending at the moment are ridiculous. 28k p/w on Amdy Faye ffs. 20k p/w on Olofinjana, who is pretty shocking and out of his depth on the game, is probably worse. Amdy's deal is up at the end of the season so that won't be renewed, and I'm trying to sift through the deadwood now, so hopefully that'll bring the wages into line on the whole.

Been doing a game with Borussia Dortmund. Made a good start, needed cover on the left so got Reto Ziegler in and bought Ariza Makukula in from Benfica. Absolute bargain at 130k for a good target man and goal scorer.

Ah shit, I was going to get Makukula but completely forgot.

Anyway, against all odds I managed to stay up thanks to a fantastic last minute run of form, culminating in a great win away at Everton. Danny Sturridge bagging a brace and a terriffic defensive effort to keep a clean sheet.

Sorted out some tactics which seem to be going down a treat after doing a bit of reading.

Time for some wheeling and dealing tonight, methinks! Hopefully, I can manage to tempt Brescia to give me my hombré - Vass! :smug:

I've been thinking about getting this, but i'm not sure...

You're job is just to persuade me to buy it, and tell me how great it is :)

FM 09 is just gaming gold, ive got so many games on the go, my current is with newcastle and its hilarious, bought good ol' Emile "workhorse" Heskey and use him as a target man and hes basically carrying the team, also a few tips for people, Keirrison (cf), Leo (cb) and Brandao (cf) are all very useful players if youre in the money, all are brazilian and generally cost around 6mil but theyre awesome, also Luigi Bruins, Axel Witsel, Geoginho Wijnaldum all become wonderkids and you can generally pick them up for about 2.5-4.5 mil each and theyre absolute quality, and thats whats immense about football manager is that you can just get randoms, stick them in youre system and make them amazing, just genuis.
