Football Manager 2013

I don't play with underachievers or shit teams.

Just so we are all clear - Real Madrid are in Football Manager, too. I daresay they are more realistically represented than in Soccer Manager.

Not at all. Sit down, son.

Look, son. You're speaking to the man who's won the Champions League four years on the trot with Rushden and Diamonds. Show some Goddamn respect.

Look, son. Respect is earned, not given. I've won the league with Cris every year, as well as the cups.

Premier Manager 98 on the Playstation is where it's at.....

Aye, it wasn't bad. I preferred LMA Manager though.

I managed to sign Okocha and Jardel for Bolton, before they signed for us in real life. Spooky.

Jardel managed to get 74 goals in a season for me once. Suck on that, Messi!

Your mother must be so proud.

Lol. How old are you? You act so immature.

I've cringed each time I've read 'Cris'. Also slightly disappointed it wasn't the ex-Lyon centre half.

I got FM13 for Christmas, so have been bitten by the bug again. Currently transforming Stoke into a fluid, passing side. Halfway through the second season.

The first went pretty well. I inherited a weekly wage which was nearly £200k over budget. Trimmed that down, replaced with better, younger and cheaper players and absolutely pillaged the loan market. Ended up with a top-10 finish and won the FA Cup.

Naturally, got into Europe through the Cup win. Did a further overhaul of the squad. Sold a few players, reduced my transfer budget and upped the wage budget to allow me to bring in a few frees on pre-contract deals, like Chadli, Weiss, Muriel and Ospina. Qualified from the group stage in 1st place, into the Carling Cup semi and currently in 5th in the league and it's around the end of December.

Got some class 15/16 year olds which my scouts picked up too. Actually, the scouting system seems much nicer this year. I like the collaborative reporting. Another scout picked up this striker who seems the mutts nuts, Ademilson. I've since found out that he's pretty well-known in certain circles, but his £5.25m release clause was an absolute steal. Assistant is suggesting his potential is 4.5 stars.

Steven N'Zonzi is quality on there too. I think I would go gay for him.

I'll probably hammer this for a couple of months then start another save, probably with someone shit from the Conference or League 2.

It's very time consuming and can be difficult for sure.

My mate does it every year, in FM 2012 he spent nearly 40 years at FC United

40 YEARS!!!

When did you last see your mate? When did he last leave the house? Does he suffer from Vitamin D deficiency? How does one man find so much time for Football Manager?!

Don't get me wrong, I love the game, but I tend to go in spells of either Football Manager or PES. I'd love to spend more time on it but I have a fiancee, a career, friends, a dog, etc etc

For the record the last FM game I played was FM11. I started with Ravenna in Italian Serie C after a holiday nearby in 2010 :) I got them promoted via playoffs in my second season then finished mid-table in Serie B, then 7th then a shock runaway victory. I knew my team was nowhere near ready for Serie A, very heavy cup defeats against teams like Cagliari & Catania told me so, so I bailed when Roma came calling. I went undefeated in the league in my first season there and despite losing eventually the next year I'm still top of the league, and in the Champs League semi finals... then PES '13 came out!

I haven't updated to FM12 or '13 because I wanted to keep my save going, and since '13 has been out I've only been giving my gaming time to PES. I'm sure I'll get back to it some time soon but as you can see, it's taken me over 2 real life years to play 7 seasons, so 40 seasons in one year!!! Unbelievable!

Though I've not played it since 2008, I used to love poaching everyone's youth prospects at the start of the season, especially when my team came good (I had a Pompey and a Crewe side). I seem to remember Colchester produced quite a few good youngsters in that game. Also if you did a player search at the start of the season, you could find decent youngsters from places like Turks and Caicos Islands.

GR33N will like this - for my Pompey side, I signed a 30yr old "Cris" (and yes, I also think of the ex-Lyon defender when I see that) for about 16 million. Managed to get goal of the season at aged 32, and was still playing for me at age 34, though in a bit-part role.

Had a strike force of Bojan, Aaron Niguez, Prudnikov and a ginger regen I had called Francis, that I poached from Chelsea.

Also, Ever Banega was an England international.

My brother managed to do quite a few seasons with Southend last year.... but I don't think it was quite that much. Maybe about 20 seasons.

If I put effort into, I can rattle through a season in a day easily. Did about 8 months today so it was very productive. 6 seasons to get into the Championship, quite pleased with that.

My mate though just finished 4th in the Premiership there, I think he's in his 13th season or so....

Finished my first season in the Championship there, found tough at the start. Was in the bottom 4 for around the first 10 weeks however picked up some good form and a couple of good loan signings from Argentina helped me finished 11th. I had a chance to get into the playoff positions but blew a 2-0 lead in my 2nd last game, losing the game 3-2.

I've been making my own database so making sure player's stats have been altered to affect real life etc as well as transfers, managerial changes etc so if anybody wants to test it out I can upload it. :)

I've also managed to get it whenever the first season is up Guardiola takes charge of Bayern.

I've tried making it as realistic as possible so a lot of adjustments have been made, so for example Nastasic now actually gets a game at Man City, Aaron Ramsey turns out a good player but he doesn't become the best midfielder of all time like he has in past versions. Jack Wilshere has had his influence upped. Added new sponsorship deals for Arsenal and PSG's massive one etc.

Tiote has been downgraded for Newcastle so he doesn't go for massive money to Chelsea at the start of each game. Bale has had his value upped so Man Utd don't buy him for £23 million each game etc.

So as mentioned lots of changes to try and make things as realistic as possible.

I've just bought FM 2013 and am currently installing it.

I'd be willing to give it a whir and give you some feedback straight off the bat. I love a database update.

There you go Nifty.

Seeing as your an Arsenal fan you can take a look at Walcott's stats for me if you don't mind. I have give him his new contract just unsure about some of his stats.

I've also gave The Ox a slight boost as whenever you normally start the game he always wants to leave Arsenal due to lack of first team football however he now gets games reflective on real life.

Gave Gibbs a boost too as he's quite shite at the start of the game but he also now starts every game.

Downloaded. Will fire up a game using it shortly and have a browse around. Will definitely feed back my thoughts!

Thanks man. It's much appreciated.

You'll probably be able to help me out with some of Arsenal's kids as at the start of the game they don't actually seem to be that good which of course goes against everything we know.

Any interest in an online game?

Perhaps we could try to organise one time-slot per week for 2-3 hours where we have at it, or something.

Just throwing it out there. If the answer is no all-round, I'll live.
