Game Speed -2 BROKEN

It's really weird. I want the game to be as sim as possible, and yet can't win a great deal and see lots of AI cheating on -1 and -2. BUT, when I put the gamespeed to it's default, which is ultra ultra fast I grant you, I started to win. Beat Arsenal 2-0, then Swansea 3-0.

This game is mad. Trouble is I want sim football more than results, but then I get beaten by scripting. I really don't know what is happening. Surely the slower the game speed the EASIER it should be for me to defend cos I can see all the options open to me in a slower way?

Can somebody please explain, I'm going to bed every night baffled by this game!?!

My point (my theory) in the earlier post was that with -1 it is harder to defend because cpu is not slowed down as much as you. This might feel like cheating because it is hard (frigging impossible!) to defend if cpu becomes too aggressive. At 0 speed setting it is easier to dispossess the AI because difference in speed between human and cpu players is less (at least what I am thinking). At the same time while it is easier to build up scoring attacks at -1 level it is also doable at 0 with a good team. You just won't score as many goals probably.

This whole thing is confusing me, and it really needs to be looked at by KONAMI.

For me personally this is how it pans out.

I want to play the game on pitchside cam, I think it's the cam that sells PES the best. However, it is rubbish for actually stopping CPU attacks as the angle is too low. What I need is wide cam, just zoomed in a touch and a little bit flatter, it's the 21st century now, why can't you customise the fkin camera angle (sigh).

However, the game plays all over the place with what camera you use and what speed you use. Now I'm not saying the camera angle has anything to do with game dynamics but it's probably the illusion that the game plays differently.

Now, to create a sim like game, you have to tone speed down to -1 or -2. Things become sluggish on times though, the CPU (apparently) cheat more and although you have 'more time' to do stuff there's still those moments where even though you can see a play coming off, you can't do jack shit about it.

Which takes me onto gameplay setting 0, the default.

It is my opinion that the game is meant to be played at this uber fast ridiculous pace. You get more reward for players sprinting about everywhere on this speed and in wide cam combined with 0 speed, I can score more goals and close out the CPU better. But things are lightening.

The trouble is, the game is probably at its most intense and enjoyable at 0 speed, wide cam, but it's not football, it's a game of high tempo reflex shit. But is nevertheless more enjoyable.

Setting -2 may be more sim like, but the game is turgid and your players don't react well enough. The problem is, with the setting on 0 the game is a highly enjoyable ping pong fest which rewards very quick play, one touch football and early through balls.

The game is less rewarding when you set it to anything negative, seems to cheat more and is basically like machines in defence because you haven't shifted them around with quick football.

These were my findings.

Three days ago I played half a ML season, on Top Player. I had the speed on -1 and then -2 on pitchside. Hardly any success. I then tried Long cam, a bit more success initially but then the AI scripting went friggin mad. With the settings on -1 or -2, and my camera on either pitchside or long, I was around 17th at the halfway point, generally losing with the odd game getting completely caned.

Roll on yesterday when I was at my wits end with the game because of the cheating.

I had tried everything to slow the game build up play, changed opponents tactics,. took cards away from players, nothing much changed. So I thought fk it, I'll have one last hurrah on it on the default game speed on wide cam. These were my results last night. Beat Wolves 1-0, beat Arsenal 2-1, beat Swansea 3-0, beat Sunderland 2-0!!!! LOL

What the fk is going on?!?

This is my theory, at least for me anyway.

With a much faster game speed, my brain is trained to react quicker and reflex takes over. There is no doubt in my mind that the CPU doesn't seem to cheat as much for me with gamespeed 0 and wide cam. The game also becomes a faster game because of it with me moving the ball quicker and with the wide cam you can get up the pitch quicker.

SO BASICALLY WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY - is that I don't think the game is engineered to play like a simulation! It is engineered to play like a really good, end to end game. This troubles me somewhat, because there seems no incentive to build up play slowly, instead the emphasis is on you going forward and scoring from one quick attack of say three or four passes.

I scoffed at the reviewers before the game came out, saying that FIFA was more sim like. I have to say that having played both games now, that FIFA does in fact play more simulation now, and PES seems to be the fun arcade alternative. Any thoughts peeps?!?

I play on PC at home and on PS3 at a friend's house... Every time we play there (on long camera) I feel it like a ping pong game.

So.. I came home and started playing it on Wide (obviously it looks a lot slower if you play it from farther away). Yesterday he came home, and we changed again to long (he felt it too slow) and I noted that it didn't play as fast in PC.

I don't know if this is a wrong impression, but I think that the game plays a lot faster on PS3 than on PC.

In PC the speed 0 is really good.

PES games have always felt fast if you play exhibition. Once you start your master league it feels a lot slower and as your players progress the game becomes faster. That being said, I play with the -2 speed setting and it feels just right.

Right?! I mean it's mandatory airbags on the cars ! seriously, is it that hard to implement such a feature?

This is sad but true. I could actually play the game on -2 and enjoy as it was more of a sim on PES 11 hoping the changes to game play and AI on 12 would enhance the experience, but now, I am convinced they had targeted an arcade game when makin this one.

A patch is URGENT. At -2 I have noticed now, that gameplay mechanics, ball mechanics and player movement also break down. It's like the game WAS NOT meant to be played on -2.:no::no:

Well i have had the same feeling. I used to play the game with my box on the tele but when i changed to a computer screen the game was so much better in terms of gameplay speed. Much slower.

Think its fine to be honest on 0. I've been playing PES since PES2 and I think this is one of the best games in the series. I tried -2 but it was far too slow for me! Not sure about what people are complaining about but I suppose people do have their preferences!

Good job Konami!

when playing online, it feels fast when you play Barca vs Milan for example.... Yesterday I played a game of Palermo vs I think it was Athletico Bilbao and the game felt much slower and more sim. I think the overpowered super teams are too fast and responsive and precise, the smaller clubs are more fun to play with IMO.

Its very noticeable in MLO, but other times it's slow and less frantic

Bang on, I always use small teams because its more of a challenge and it forces you to be more considered in your approach. With decent teams it feels all about the pace rather than the passing.

game speed at 0 is PERFECT

THE SPEED IS ^NOT BROKEN^-- YOU THE PLAYER ARE

That is an sweeping statement in equal to the op but you are being deliberately antagonistic.

If you think it is perfect state why you think it is perfect. Thank you.
