6.5/10 is quite a fair score for PES 2010, I believe. It is definitely no higher than a 7/10, in my opinion.

The problem a lot of websites and magazines are going to face is in regard to the fact that many scored PES 2008 and PES 2009 extremely well. Too well. The fact is that 2010 is better than both but, because 2008 and 2009 were scored so well it would require brilliant scores to put 2010 ahead of them. And 2010 is no where near an 8/10 or a 9/10, nevermind a 10/10!

Personally, I think I'd score them as such.

PES 2008 - 5/10
PES 2009 - 6/10
PES 2010 - 6.5/10

None of the three have been brilliant. And the improvements between each have been too minor to see more than subtle score improvements. For example; 2010 improved the game speed and revampted the Master League. But the commentary has not improvement. Goalkeepers are still a major flaw. And there is now a problem with response times. Players can acclimaties to the latter but, the point is they should not have to. So although the score initially goes up, it falls, again, and cannot really settle that far ahead due to the fact the game has for the most part stood still as opposed to take strides forward.

Perhaps the fact that online is now playable (although still not great) should see it take a slightly improved 7/10 score.

A sensible post in a sea of delusion.

PES 2010 is far from Perfect, better than PES 2008 & 2009

PES2010 is as close to a good football game that I enjoy to play.

I am in the honeymoon period at the moment enjoying 'Delboying' in the transfer market on Master League, once this has worn off I don't think PES2010 is going to remain in the PS3 until PES2011 - However I can only hope we get back to the PS2 style addiction next year!

I think Gamespot is on EA's payroll big time this year, they have given the great NBA 2k10 a lower score than Live, now they have utterly badly rated this game. Its a good thing I don't take their reviews too seriously anymore.

Greg Kasavin was the only good thing Gamespot ever had... he went to EA, seems he might be pulling a few strings.

Before PES2010 was released I was expecting a poor game, and was constantly lambasting it on the forums, as some of you will have known... Yet I still went ahead and bought it, and in my opinion it scrapes an 8, not a 6.5.

-What doesn't help is Gamespot's stupid system for rating games, which they changed not too long ago. The whole thing of going up in 0.5's is a really stupid idea, and only came into effect after Greg Kasavin left.

How much have EA paid gamespot this time then??? That score is an absolute joke and I hope people don't take it seriously.

I'd love to speak to Gamespot and ask them to explain:

How they scored PES 2009 7/10 and yet state that PES 2010 is an improvement on PES 2009 and yet score that 6.5/10!!??

Fair enough if they prefer Fifa, but a 6.5 is a joke!!! PES 2010 has improved the Champs Lg, Masters Lg, graphics, gameplay, integrated Europa lg. It deserves an 8/10 at the least and I'd personally give it a 8.5/10.

The sad thing is Gamespot is one of the big sites so anyone undecided is gonna see this review and think PES 2010 is pants! When it's actually a big improvement. A 6.5 score would suggest the game is almost unplayable!

For me... anyone thats puts Pes08 or 09 higher average score than Pes 2010 its in the EA paylist...

If Pes 2010 is a 6/10 game ( In the gamespot point of view), 08 and 09 efforts can´t be higher than 4/10 scale.

This remainds the Real Madrid...Blackburn...

If you won la liga , ok.

If you lose some games, you are shit.

If you are Blackburn and won the premiership they will be heros

If you lose some games, ok.

Maybe because of PES greatness in 2004-2006 we all have expectations too high...

6.5/10? That is a JOKE!

At the moment I would give PES2010 a 8.4/10. Easy.
And I would give FIFA10 a 9/10 Easy.

But Gamespot are taking the fucking mick! Have they even played the game? They sound so retarted that they where probably playing PES1 and thinking it was PES2010!!! WTF?

The lowest score anyone can possibly give PES2010 is a 7.5/10.. ANYTHING lower than that score is a JOKE!

F**k it pisses me off how people don't review games properly. I respect thier score but come on!!! 6.5?? Its a JOKE.

You probably sick of me saying JOKE now so i'll stop now.. But seriosly that score is a JOKE!!

Gamespot should come back in a few months time and then give the score. I can assure you it would be over 7.5...

You need time to review a game. All these reviewers get like a few days with it. If I was to review something I would give it AT LEAST a month..

JOKE

Gamespot aren't to be trusted, not after the Kane and Lynch debacle last year. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to comment on PES2010, as I haven't played and won't until sometime in december at the earliest, but I can't see how the score of a game can go down if a game has improved.

Quite simply, what many of you lot want from the game is not what others expect. People who are interested in a next gen title from konami with innovation like the original ISS and PS2 titles have not got that. Whereas FIFA is at least making an effort, I think mst reviewers are coming from that standpoint.

Well, I read their review and it seems that they gave it a 6.5 because the game hasnt changed much since 08 version. It is still a fun game just not enough new stuff. Also, the gameplay is falling behind Fifa and remember, gameplay was always the part where PES destroyed Fifa but it seems to have altered. According to them, PES needs a major change (like EA did with fifa 08 on the console, practically built a whole new interface). So they do have a point but I would give it a 7.0 istead of 6.5, the "6" just makes it look like a very very crappy game which is not.

I don't take reviews to heart, and I hope that none of you do either. What places any of these reviewers in a more prominent position then any of us? Because they get paid to analyze a video game? There are people in the world that do work that actually matters, unlike these futile fanboys. If you are enjoying PES 2010, turn the other cheek. If not, buy FIFA and move on down the assembly line.

This is an extremely valid point. PES has a feeling of "... been there, done that..." due to the fact that it has not progressed enough in the span of three to four years. It has failed to make any major strides since its days on the PS2 and has stood relatively still from 2008 through to 2010. Couple this with the fact that FIFA has made massive strides forward, progressing massively in recent years, becoming a true next-gen football simulation, and it is little wonder the tides are turning against Konami and in favour of EA.

FIFA was awful, it truly was. It was an abysmal effort throughout the series on the PS2. But since the leap to the next-gen consoles FIFA has really evolved, and unquestionably evolved for the better. Firstly, that scores points for effort. In the same way Konami & PES lose points for lack of effort. And secondly it scores points for succeessfully breaking new ground and improving drastically in doing so. Where as Konami & PES lose points for resting on their laurels while taking steps backwards instead of forwards.

Many of the good aspects in PES 2010, the areas that were improved upon, are areas where Konami dropped the ball in 2008 and 2009. So all Konami have really done is catch up on themselves, correcting previous errors, all the while failing to really forge enough new ground. The tactical sliders and skill cards a nice features, and the revamped Master League has been a long time in the making but, with the failure to address core gameplay and goalkeepers it ultimately makes little impact. One step forward. Two steps back.

yh i totally agree there were aspects of the game that made me realsie how terrible 09 was. BUT PES needs to improve alot ive never crticiesd it much , but now its more evident than ever. i enjoy 2010 but there is soo much konami have to do , and there is damage that konami has done to small things , which fans however enjoyed .

i dont know really fifas got better animations and repsonse and fluent , but then it lacks by a mile on visuals.

BUT this year is a step in the right direction .

laster year i stopped playing PES 09 thank god for COD 5 lol

I don't agree with 1 step forward and 2 steps back. This year it's the other way round. It's more like a step forward to me.

Batman arkum asylum was a brilliant game, game of the year at moment.

not a chance, although a brilliant game I agree. Uncharted 2 is so far the game of the year by a mile. The only game capable of beating it as game of the year is modern warfare 2.

PES10 is average at best. I do think gamespot's review is a bit too harsh but if you look at all the reviews out there you will realise that they aren't the only people thinking PES10 is average.

Best football game to date, period. Thanks Konami.

I cant believe how people are blind playing a game like Fifa where players look like roaches and the game is just boring an repatative.

Copy that!
This is very well written - with good points!
I haven't bought PES this year and I'm not going to... (And I'm not buying FIFA either...!). It's not that PES is bad. The true problem is, that this game (PES10) is exactly what we should have gotten back in 08!
I've played many hours now on the WE-demo and I think it's ok. But just the sheere fact, that they still use animations you've seen since ISS Pro Evo 1 on the PS1 is a disgrace...
As quoted above - I think the main point in most reviews is Konamis lack of trying as opposed to EA's massive strides forward these last two years.
Yes! Konami made good strides forward this year - but only compared to PES6, which again leaves me to my first point about this years installment should have been the '08 installment.

And the only way I as a person can make that statement come across to Konami, is by not giving them money by not buying their product.

I personally have every reason to believe that PES10 is the best PES ever so far. But it's just not a current gen installment and hence not worth buying IMO.

Do you just overlook all the crap parts of the game, or do you just not encounter it?

YOU SUCK AT THE GAME THATS WHY YOU CANT PASS KID:realmad:
