There's gambling in RDR and hunting. Hell.... they even made flower picking entertaining! It certainly had its fair amount of randomness too.

Mak, I think you'll be on your own trying to argue that GTA IV was better then RDR.

Indeed, and when comparing the likes of horse shoe throwing, and the knife game, to GTA IV's bowling and darts, the obvious difference is that Red Dead's mini-games actually matched the environment and as such made sense. When I think of New York and the fun to be had, I don't necessarily think of bowling, darts and the odd pool game.

GTA IV's mini-games just seemed so very random, with no real bearing upon the environment and how it all ties in. Whereas with Red Dead, some of the mini-games were a part of the environment itself, and as such, they felt natural and therefore it was easier to have fun playing them.

Plus, the mini-games in GTA were kind of a chore, as you only really did them to satisfy your friends who kept calling up at every inconvenience.

Ya know, you don't actually have to do these activities with your 'friends' in the game.
Well clearly it's the preferred game going off you guys but no way represents the majority gamers opinion.
GTA IV online freemode is worth the purchase alone. Red dead free mode is a snorefest.
You can hardly create a ruckus in red dead. Obviously some people prefer repetitively hunting animals rather than causing mayhem and having fun.

Even Ballad of Gay Tony was fantastic.

Rockstar must've paid every single game reviewer because of the critical acclaim it received. 4 year old game and still shits on tacky new sandbox games like sleeping dogs.

Just because game reviewers have gave it a great score, doesn't mean that their word is bond. I am a game reviewer. We all are. Let's just have a quick look at some of the 'major' game reviewers - both IGN and Gamespot gave GTA IV 10/10. Really?

I think GTA IV being given a perfect 10 from the likes of IGN, Gamespot (and others perhaps), represents just how little weight their opinions carry in my view.

It's the equivalent of saying that a certain music artist is better than another, based upon how many units their last albums sold.

Maybe if the car handling was cartoony and it had a shit game engine and you could kill people with giant dildos and also streak in the game, it might've been better received on here.

I have... and the DLC too.

It's a very good game, don't get me wrong... just not as good as RDR.

Ok, look at it this way, R* did not go round with a big paper bag of money buying reviews but they did ensure higher scores were given, the most famous of these is the EDGE 10, and it has since came out that the reviewer did not write the review as a 10, but the editor changed it.

It has been said that R* pushed for the higher reviews and if a company like R* presses for higher reviews, it comes with the "no need to be mentioned" threat of screwing yo over in terms of coverage for their next big games, and seeing as R* games are some of the biggest, and mainstream gaming site or mag missing our would lose out considerably, as well as the fact that they probably would lose R* ad revenue.

Remember though we see a dog in the trailer, near the start. I'm taking this together, especially on the back of the animals in RDR.

If there are no animals I'll be very disappointed. This gives us a great chance to ride Elephants.
