There's gambling in RDR and hunting. Hell.... they even made flower picking entertaining! It certainly had its fair amount of randomness too.
Mak, I think you'll be on your own trying to argue that GTA IV was better then RDR.
Indeed, and when comparing the likes of horse shoe throwing, and the knife game, to GTA IV's bowling and darts, the obvious difference is that Red Dead's mini-games actually matched the environment and as such made sense. When I think of New York and the fun to be had, I don't necessarily think of bowling, darts and the odd pool game.
GTA IV's mini-games just seemed so very random, with no real bearing upon the environment and how it all ties in. Whereas with Red Dead, some of the mini-games were a part of the environment itself, and as such, they felt natural and therefore it was easier to have fun playing them.
