Why not??

Rockstar could tempt us with a mission or two and then leave it on a cliffhanger towards the next missions, so people are eager and want to buy the game.

Anyone else feel the same way as me?

There's not been a GTA demo since GTA 2. Mainly because I think the initial impact of the game's atmosphere when you first load up the disc is huge, something that could be spoilt a little by a demo preview. It's also not as if releasing a demo will draw a larger buying audience as everyone knows what to expect (sort of) and shall buy it regardless. And then's the nitty gritty questions of how much of the city will be unlocked in the demo, vehicles available etc. which I don't see them being bothered with at all.

I was hoping for an early April release, but an official release date is welcome nonetheless.

Agree with Haribo.
They could release this game in a paper sleeve and at a higher price and it would not affect the sales.

I'm getting increasingly excited by this. I feel it could ruin my university career and also my social life. I hope it's big in terms of size, but not quite on the San Andreas scale. That got boring.

Can't wait for this. Apparently when you steal a car you have to hotwire. I wish they would put petrol stations on there though and you had to refill your car.

Then the game would be too realistic in my opinion. I remember when everyone was on about being able to eat and how it increased the level of realism, but for me it just ruined the game.

In the preview from CVG they mentioned that you can call a friend or your cousin and you can go out and stuff , in the preview they said that you can get drunk and then the screen goes blurry etc... which sounds intresting hopefully it will be better than the saints row "drunk cam"..

damn i thought the game was supposed to be out 4th april. This totally screws up my GCSEs. I though I would have completed the story mode by the time the tests started but not Ill have to wait a month to get the game.

German magazine Computerbild-Spiele has had a hands on preview. Good luck translating, but theres 11 new screens, not so good quality though.

* The preview was hands-on, which means the game was played by the journalists as opposed to a representative from Rockstar.
* The missions that were played appear to be the same ones that were previewed by the online press last month.
* Pedestrian reactions are more true-to-life than in previous games.
* The WASTED! system is still intact. If you die, you end up at the nearest hospital (minus your weapons) the next morning.
* One button press will get you into a car. A second button press is required to start up the car's engine.
* Niko wears a helmet while riding motorcycles.
* Surroundings are more interactive (bullet holes from gunfire, environment reacting to explosions, etc).
* You can find "useful things" in cars that you hijack.
