Aaaah man!!! I was looking forward to that.

I find it strange that they are delaying the release by so many months, wonder what the story is behind the story I mean they must've been busy with the finishing touches already and Rockstar are renowned for keeping things hush-hush right till the end but with the game's release now delayed with so much info out there, it just doesn't sound as if we getting the whole story.

Waiting for this game felt like hell and when we thought we were close, it got even further. I could bare the wait of 1-3 months but all the way to April 2008. Ahh! Well, it falls on the month of my birthday, that's the only positive I can take.

Let's just hope PES2008 doesn't delay!

Despite this I stand by my decision to get a PS3. I just cant resist MGS4, and the console looks to have a promising future, its going to take a while though.

We will see about the PS3 being a waste in 3 years time,we will see......

heres some theories why it could have been delayed

Theory 1. Rockstar didn’t want GTA IV to be overshadowed by Halo 3
Theory 2. Rockstar is struggling with the PS3’s Cell processor
Theory 3. GTA IV Wii version now in the making
Theory 4. Sony bribed Rockstar to delay GTA IV
Theory 5. GTA IV was always going to be late and was only slated for this financial year to keep Take 2 afloat (Herb Greenberg agrees with this one)
Theory 6. Rockstar can't fit the game onto a DVD

Someone was saying on GTAForums how it could possibly R*s fault for not being able to program the game on PS3 ie. not having the technical know-how to the console whereas others do. I dont think thats a valid reason though, but at least someone is trying to blame them, hardly anyone on those forums wants to criticise or blame R*.

Why would we want to criticise or blame Rockstar though ? What would be the point of it ?

Its going to be shit knowing I could be playing it on my 360, while the finsihed game can't be released while they finsih it off for the piece of shit! :realmad:

And yet another site states:

Problems with development of GTA IV on the Xbox 360 has meant the game has been delayed until April 2008.

GTA IV was due for release on 17th October. Rockstar have been using the Playstation 3 as the lead platform. An Xbox 360 team have been working besides the core team adapting code. Whilst the PS3 Blu-ray disc will easily accommodate the game, there have been problems fitting the game on to a single 360 DVD disc. Microsoft will not allow the game to be released on 2 disc as they are concerned the 360 will be compared unfavourably to the PS3. The situation has led to tension between Dan Houser and the Microsoft Empire as there is currently no way the game can fit on a single dvd.

Microsoft are currently working on a new compression technology for DVD9 discs, however this wont be available until next year. In a politically worded statement Sam Houser said "The game is huge and is pushing the hardware platforms to their absolute limits. The top engineers from Sony and Microsoft are working closely with the team in Edinburgh right now, helping us to fully leverage the power of both platforms."

Whilst the PlayStation 3 version is all set for completion at the end of this month, Microsoft have tied Take Two into an iron-clad legal agreement that forbids them from releasing the game on any format unless the Xbox 360 is ready. This has meant that whilst the PS3 version will be ready for October, Microsoft have directly prevented its release.

It's all a load of 'blaming the other console' bollocks.

New Release Date: March 4th 2008
Edit: Our sources confirm March 4th, 2008.

So we know GTA IV has been delayed until the second quarter of the 2008 fiscal year, but when exactly will we be seeing it on the shelves?

Take-Two has apparently been telling retailers March 2008, and going by a typical "GTA released on a Tuesday" assumption, that leaves us with the 4th, 11th, 18th, or 25th.

GameStop has posted "pre-release ships March 3rd, 2008" on their GTA IV page, so for now, we're assuming that the final(?) release date for Grand Theft Auto IV is the 4th of March next year.

Another random, rather unimportant thing to take notice of. Rockstar has removed the "Coming [Date] text on the "agegate" image on the official GTA IV site.

at least we no that now

i reckon its a bit of both that they can't program the ps3 one that well cause it's hard for them to do , and there isn't enough on a dvd disc i think microsoft should build a 360 with a hd-dvd drive built in then developers could start to build hd-dvd games but then they would have to make a dvd version aswell
