No an hdmi cable wont make a big difference in this particular game but generally it will....big difference..so for every other game (gears 2 is coming) you should definantly own an hdmi cable...since you have a port its a waste not to...and i say buy an expencive one ...people assume cheep hdmi is better than no hdmi or expensice hdmi so they getl like 10-20 euro hdmis and they suck..it makes difference in clarity in sharpness in colours in contrast in jaggies in everything..its a one time investment so get a good one...!

Sorry mate but that's utter bollocks! My cable cost £9 from my local Gamestation & works perfectly fine. I have tried the one that came with my 360 & can see no difference (apart from the colour of the cable itself ;)).

I've got a 26" HD ready TV that can display 720p or 1080i. I'm using the cable that came with my xbox 360 on 1080i and I'm pretty impressed with the pic. Would getting a HDMI cable really make that much diff? Or does it only make a diff on full 1080p TV's?

Cheers

You should notice the difference. The larger the screen & higher the res the more benefit you'll gain. On a 15" it's not really worth it, but from 26" and up it's a must tbh.

upon reading this, i took out my 360 component cable and replaced it with the hdmi that i was running my ps3 on, and then changed the 360 settings to 1080p, its fair to say i noticed pretty much no diffence at all,

i am playing on a panasonica viera hd tv

so in my opinion, shelling out on one, wouldnt make that much of a difference, so wouldnt be worth it, or maybe its just my cable?

i payed like 8 pound for it, with discount in game.

i bought a MONSTER HDMI cable for 70 quid and i can safley say its miles better than the shitty 20 quid one i got with the PS3
much richer colours and sharper picture

Yeah, keep trying to justify the cost.

Sorry but this is bullshit. There is no difference in picture quality between HDMI cables. Any difference made by construction would be negligible. As far as construction is concerned, you just want to make sure that the plugs are secure and sturdy. The ruggedness of the line itself shouldn't be a concern unless you're going to be installing the cable in or through the walls of your house.

anyone know where to get a GOOD HDMI cable for about a tenner? I bought one for roughly £4 and it's hell!

When I'm playing online it'll randomly freeze my tv screen
= I have to switch my tv/skybox/dvd player off at the main
= my opponent runs up the pitch and scores.

Tartan cable and Monoprice.com are recommended by and sponsors of AVSforum.com. I use Monoprice because they have the best prices and the quality is solid. The only thing is that I don't know if they ship to the UK or what that would cost. But, if you live in the US or Canada I'd definitely take a look.

I hope your right Fick! I've just orderd a £10 HDMI cable off of Amazon.

I've heard they improve the picture quality on DVD's too which finally made my mind up to splash out :)

darker blacks and more vivid colours are easily noticable

No I dont

You dont have HDMI already??
lol ;)

No because the picture i get from my TV is incredibly sharp and easily as good as people's tV's with HDMI so I didn't bother with it.

but now a new set of games are being released i thought I might aswell get one

Just go speak to any professional who's not out to get your money. Try the internet or magazines if you don't know any professionals. Over short distances HDMI quality won't make a difference. There has been many tests performed with all the same results; $10 hdmi vs $300 Monster = same picture.

I know some people who work at electronics stores and you know how much they pay for the same exact monster cables that cost $100? Less than $15.

Like I said before though, the expensive cables are much more durable but the pros tell you this; they'd rather take the chance with $10 ones and keep replacing them when necessary (which is normally never) then spend $100.
