Why did you have to wait? was it a sony exchange or a store exchange? If it was SONY, they bring one out to you within 24 hours.

They were both SONY exchanges. So I don't know why I had to wait so long?

I've still got the one my wife bought me for my birthday, April 2001. No problems with it so far.

I bought my PS2 about 2 months after the launch and I've had it ever since. However it is now getting tempermentral in it's old age... it refuses to play coloured bottom disks and if it's being really awkward it gives me a disk read error even on silver bottomed disk.

I've been lucky, I've only needed to have one PS2. However, mine's been on it's deathbed for the past year and a half, I keep doing things like cleaning the laser, cleaning th unit with compressed air. Trying to hold out for the PS3.

I'm on my second i got my first in January 2001 and it was all fine and dandy until about the beginning of 2003 when it wouldnt read Compact Discs. I was gutted because i made all my MD's through my PS2.This was resolved after realising:
1. It was a Net MD
2. I still had the software that came with it so that i could do it through my computer.

Ok, on topic. I tried to hold out until eventually it wouldnt read Pro Ev 3(or any other game for that matter). So, naturally when that happens you give up...

I got a nice shiny new Satin Silver PS2 last Sunday. Really quiet, built in DVD Remote Control Reciever and some other addition that i cant remember.

To cut a long story short,(kind of pointless now) i've had 2!

I have that problem too! I've opened it up a few times to clean the lense, but I doubt that's the problem. I guess I'll be on my 2nd PS2 in November, because if I have to sit around waiting for it to read the PES4 disc, it will break my nerves.

Definitely Maybe

Danny Collins for Brazil
I got mine for Christmas 2001, and Ive had no problems with it. So far, thats the only one Ive had.

I am considering getting it chipped, but unlike the PS1, where literally everyone had it chipped, I dont know anyone who has got a chipped PS2, so I dont know the going price, or where to get it done or owt.. Like I said, Im definitely considering it, but it doesnt really bother me that much, so its not like Im desperate for it or anything.
