The thing is that as soon as EA get the better of their competition there's pretty much no hope left.
Imagine that over the last 10-15 years it was Konami who had all the licenses and fancy features, not EA. Fifa would have died a long time ago because it would have had nothing to offer anybody. The only reason they chugged along side by side while all other football games fell by the wayside was that Fifa had all the licenses and glam, and Pro Evo had the best gameplay. Basically they both had contrasting but very attractive qualities to buyers. Now the gameplay has shifted to Fifa as well, what do Konami have left to fight with? Not much. I suppose it was inevitable in the end that EA would have the last laugh.
Spot on mate. PES had the gameplay, nothing else, now it doesnt even have that anymore, whats it got left. EA have the far more challenging gameplay and AI, then when you add shit like not having to edit kits, boots and all that shit, add the commentary and manager mode and pes is in serious trouble.
The only way back for pes is to somehow totally revolutionize the way football is played on consoles. For instance if they introduced weight passing and assigned that to the right stick only, can you imagine if they managed to work out a precise weighted pass system based on stick only movements?
That sort of innovation is what they need plus a massive increase in the player animations etc, then they have a chance.
But to be honest, EA are more likely to do that idea than konami, as they have consistently looked for ways of innovating the way sports games are played on consoles. It was ea who were the 1st to inroduce a boxing game where stick movements controlled punches (fight night) and where stick movements controlled swing on golf games (tiger woods).
Konami just didnt listen, now they pay the price, bottom line is, about 3/4 years ago PES shitted over fifa when pes5/6 came out. Now Konami's lead is non existant and EA could visably put a permanent end to pro evo if this shit carries on.
