I Fear the Worst for Pes 2009

my main reason is the saved ML team reverts to original stats.

I think the gameplay is better than PES6

I think you're on to something with that anxiety stat thing there PacMan, but I'm not sure it'd be fair if you were one-nil down and your centre forward misses a sitter because a stat has altered his abilities since half time or whatever. Mabe it'd apply only to CPU players, but I think there's an idea in that.

Actually I think it should apply to your team as well. It'd suck to miss a goal because of that, but it DOES happen in real life. Of course the player has to have a really bad day, or he has to be very young/cowardly. Or just plain bad luck, as well.

It would also bring more value to experienced players, those who have been in many finals (or relegation battles!) and know how to keep focused and not lose their temper when things don't go so well, or when you're 0-0 in a tense match and nearing the end.

On the other issue, I know the AI has some better things this time around (and some other things that are worse), but I'd like to see a REALLY good AI, one that would require intelligent tactic/strategic planning, for example. You know, build a tactic according to your team and the team you're playing against (i.e. is it better for you to play down the wing and send the ball to a lone tall forward? or maybe base your game on short passing team moves, etc.) There's something like this already, but the flaws of the game make some tactics brutally inefficient or, alternatively, a flat-out exploit/cheat.

For example, I can tell you that trying to slow the pace of the game when winning is as impossible as trying to play defensive in Top Spin 2 to tire out your opponent. It just won't happen!

Some good ideas popping up in this thread, just been thinking about another one the last day or so. Having player's reputations go against them, or for them in certain situations. Lets say for example Alan Smith or Joey Barton commit a foul, in a similar way to which Theo Walcott or Ryan Giggs may do. However Smith and Barton are more likely to receive a booking due to their reputation. It may sound a bit strange but I think it would give the players a sense of more individuality. If you're playing a League lets say, it doesn't matter about the squad because they're likely to be booked due to human control. But it would be more realistic if reputations can go before someone, meaning a player like Essien is more likely to pick up bookings and therefore suspensions as opposed to Wright-Phillips etc.

Not sure how this would work, maybe just a little Reputation bar kind of like Condition, and the greener it is the less likely you are to be booked. However if it's red or orange etc, you could be targetted at times.

It could also work for diving too obviously etc.

that would only work if there was a progression
I.e the more cards you get the more (if i use your example) you go into the red
and also it should work vice versa if barton/smith/essien never recieve cards they should be able to go into the green
It sounds like a good idea but it would be difficult to implement into the game to become part of the game instead of a novelty

A very slow progression though, because as we all know reputations are hard to build. Konami could easily set a base for players though, let's say Alan Smith would be pure Red, it would take him ages without picking up cards or very little cards before it gradually moves up to another colour etc.

that would be a damm good idea, how would it be included with out looking like a novelty. Konami try different things ever year (this year its diving on next gen) that have a real mixed opinion. Reputation would deffinetly get a mixed reception

Not really...the writing has been on the wall ever since the series peaked with PES3. Fair enough, Konami cited the limitations of the PS2 as the limiting factor preventing the series being enhanced. Well, we now have 360, PS3, and of course high spec gaming PC's. So where the fuck is our super next gen Pro Ev Soccer?

Instead of delivering Konami have just churned out another lame arsed game engine tweak with slightly better graphics, but with all the same old aggravating flaws....MADE WORSE THAN FUCKING EVER BEFORE!!!

Nope, bottom line is that for me, PES2008 signals the end of an era. Konami are showing no sign of having anything special up their sleeves other than their age old trick of removing essential features so that they can re-introduce them in a later game and call it an improvement.

Hi Pro Evo Players

I have a bad feeling that next years version is just going to be another small update by konami. Reading the posts and forums there is a lot of pissed of people and you cant blame them they bought the game. Now the FA are joining not allowing there stuff to be used in the game. I would say all the FIFA fans are laughing their ass off. Have any of you guys any comments on this maybe konami will make a brilliant game but the way its going with this pro evo I really dont think so......

I think pes2009 will be amazing next year because konami will relise how some peaple started liken fifa better so they will try to mka pes2009 better

great ideas

Considering they're working with "next-gen" consoles, and they're working on their 3rd installment for the Xbox 360. I will be disappointed with anything less than incredible if I'm honest. Fair enough if they can't afford all the licenses, but at least give us the editing tools to change the teams to our liking. The possibilities are supposed to be there.

Why can't we have 50 stadiums ?
Why can't we have 30 balls ?
Why can't we have 30 boots ?
Why can't we have 50 kit templates ?
Why can't we have a 3rd kit, and the choice of kits in League modes etc. ?
Why can't we have a stadium/ball/boot editor ?
Why can't we have 100 spaces for camera editing ?
Why can't we have 3 Divisions in the Master League ?
Why can't they use real currency in the Master League, even "Euros" ?
Why can't they balance the defence and attack evenly ?
Why can't they slow the game down, or even give us the choice again ?
Why can't we change emblems like we could about 5 years ago ?
Why can't they remove the cheating from the AI ?
Why can't we choose the net types for the goals etc. ?
Why can't we have a smooth online mode ? Even PES6 was successful.
Why can't we have more than 1 vs. 1 ?
Why can't we play a Master League with our friends in the same team online ?

Get it sorted Konami, there's no point in removing the majority of the features, and then bringing them back a couple of years later and expecting everyone to believe they're immense and fresh.

have to say mate, some great ideas there, those little changes would make a whole lotta difference to the game alone, never mind the licenses, cos that can all be sorted out i`m sure!
can u tell me,is there anywhere that i can check out how to use GGS an AFS and all that stuff for editing cos i`d like to learn how to do it but i`m a novice an this an havent a clue by jus opening the program?? thanks if u do

Roll on Sensible World of Soccer Online for the PC. Until then, I have no footie game to play.

That is a really cool post, it describes PES perfectly. Great post mate, probably the best one I've seen about PES/Konami.

From what I can figure out it seems that Seabass still hasent figured out the next gen consoles everything has been cut back since we9. I wait and extra 6 mos for the game and this year I get 13 stadiums and a edit mode I could do without. I bought FIFA for the first time and i refuse to play it. I want all the teams of FIFA and most of the major stadiums and there is no reason this cant happen.

copy fifa

pes would be quality if they just copied fifa's off the pitch stuff like the franchise mode where u have coaches and finances etc. gameplay needs to be more random and the physics engine re-worked to make the players move more realistically and the refs are unforgiveingly bad. they are unrealistically accuret. some bad decisions tossed in the game would be annoying but isint that the reason we all love and talk about football cos of the contraversy. fans need to be more realistic an sing well known songs and they need pitches like anfield where the fans are in your face.

IMPROVE THE COMMENTRY 100% USE NBA COMMENTRY AS AN EXAMPLE OF A CONVERSATION ABOUT WHATS HAPPENING ON THE PITCH

KONAMI, QUIT ALL YOUR OTHER DODGY GAMES AND PUT ALL FUNDING INTO PES!!!

any1 agree? SOS FOR CAPS BUT IM ANGRY

i have been a PES fan for many years like a lot of people on here, i have to admit i only liked pes2008 for a v.short time and that was only when playing international matches (couldnt stomach masterleague lol) i think the thing that can make these games better is like people are saying the editing issue, there is only so far you can take a game of football anyway.

but the only thng fifa has on PES is the licences so why dont PES make it easy to edit your own like someone said stadiums, balls, kits, boots, why not nets as well, correct me if im wrong but PES6 on the ps2 has different shapes and colours of the goal netting but on the 360 PES6 and PES2008 it one one colour one shape,

im eagally awating the next PES as i do every year i still play PES 6 all the time think im in season 2019 on master league lol i just hope the next issue of PES will please the fans of pro evolution otherwise whats the point in making the game.

also i do not think konami hit thier peak at PES3 i had PES3 and it was ace PES4 & 5 was even better PES6 was simply AWESOME! so i think konami and that seabass guy have the capability of NOT making the next PES game shit, they know what went wrong with PES2008 everone on here could tell them that for free they know what the fans want why dont they just make the best ever game of football out there and not give a shit about weather the crowd looks too unrealistic or stupid shirt pulling put some realistic graphics on and some realistic skill moves realistic goal keepers and a decent refferee, even throw in the odd "bad decision" every now and again have lines men over rulling the ref controversial decision BUT NOT STUPID ASS BUGS you know what im saying like what happens in a REAL game of football. thats what i wouldnt mind seeing

What's the point in making a crappy game that will not be well received by the fans?? Money, nothing more and nothing less.

By making crappy games, Konami can always Introduce or Re-Introduce (like so many times before) features that will make the game better - In other words, that's Konami's way of securing customers for each year's version. There are so many things that can be easily improved, and some of this "things" will probably be improved for the next version - Thus, many of us will buy the next version.
