I have had my last straw with PES '16!

I get the impression that the "main reviewers" have markedly low standards these days. Particularly when it comes to sport simulation games, it seems as though anything not entirely helpless will be readily regarded as an "ok" game. Case in point: the hype that 2K Sports gets, as well as the hype that PES16 is getting.

I've pretty much given up on sports video games.

The main reviewers are simply paid to hand out decent scores and of course make up awards or catch-phrases which can be used to help sell the game.

Who do they aim too? The masses of course!

Who are the masses? Largely, the young, impressionable and of course stupid.

Large game companies (particularly EA) getting the masses to buy their games is like rounding up sheep in a very small pen - it's just a matter of control, the more of the market you control the more you can control consumer habits.
Just take a look at the fashion industry as an example and how it controls/dictates young people/teenagers' choice - by and large they all wear the same clothes and adopt the same haircuts (Ex. men/boys = shaved at the sides with a foppish top) because the industry controls most aspects from the top down, it's the same for the gaming industry. The main players, such as EA, possess this control - they're already beginning to sponsor actual leagues - so the links between big business and football and getting bigger and this means further control, so the problem is if the product is average but the masses don't notice then tough luck! It's your fault for not being part of the masses, for wanting more, for thinking outside the box (see what I did there?).

It's tragic because with regards to the fashion industry people think they have choice when in fact they're doing pretty much the exact same as everyone else.

A last note about Amateur's comment on Anarchy - I don't think Anarchy could exist in it's purest form, we cannot go to a state of nature - yes it has not ever been given a chance but we have to understand that man is too easily manipulated and driven by instincts (such as greed, lust etc) so if given the chance of living without rules or punishment we would just fall into madness. It's a lovely idea but I think we all have to give up some of our freedom to enjoy the protection that the state, theoretically, should provide.
It's when you factor in human desire that models of governance begin to deteriorate.

Happy Christmas!

So anyway, been away from the forums scene for a while but I see nothing changes. Ockrass and Amateur still caning the long posts I see. Respect to both though, surprised you still have the energy to posts these million word essays like I used to. You prob don't remember the debates back in the day. Anyway.

Keeping it simple I'm a little confused this year. I see the majority of the main reviewers are giving PES high ratings compared to FIFA, although that could be a big brown envelope pay off from Konami this year, who knows. Also the overall feedback from the masses is that PES is the much better game this year; in fact FIFA is getting caned on metacritc. But, what I'm interested in is the hardcore fans. I'm getting the impression some maybe thinking that FIFA is more simulation this year....maybe?

Anyway, thoughts briefly on the two as I have one purchase for the kid this year (and sneakily ME) etc etc. Overall, which is the better purchase. Fully aware of the age old yadda yadda with one game not having licences blah blah, but I'm on about the gameplay primarily.

Sup Techboy11?

Glad to see that your are still alive.

However, I have not posted anything over 4 or 5 lines....and never have. :shocking:

I'm so apathetic with football games these days Ockrass I can barely even write a paragraph myself. Here's looking to PES 2017 then.

I am down to only playing video games twice a month....life is kicking my ass. Can't worry about video games too much these days either.

I mainly do it for the kids nowadays.

Fifa is still my only outlet where football is concerned.

You could say the A.I is bad. But compared to last year, The A.I. was shocking. Some goals I have conceded were so stupid it made me quit. FIFA has the exact same problem. I guess it is just a recurring theme in football games.

I stopped buying pro evo - I just download it now.

It's good enough for me to play a bit of master league and a few exhibition matches every now and again but because they never sort out the scripted cheating I'm not paying for it.

I think im done with pes 16. Cant take that the refs call no fouls and give no cards. Also there are way to many fake teams. Then a fake team with all English names. Think im going to buy pes 5 or 6 again.

I'm into my third season of Career Mode- if you take the time to issue player instructions, alter formations and tactics, it's a really good game. Full manual settings give you so much more freedom and and make it far more challenging.

People can say what they like but authenticity does play a massive role where the enjoyment factor comes into play. When I played PES 3 to 6 on the PC, I was was forever downloading/utilising fan-made modifications to the game, it really did make a big overall difference to the immersion factor of the whole gameplay experience.

The fact that so many people downloaded and used the modifications (kits/stadiums/boots/footballs/leagues etc.) shows that people really do want authenticity, despite what Bhatti says! / -:

I have converted a lot of PES players to Fifa.
Fifa 16 is a bit better than previous years. The game is slower, no speed demons, no ping pong passing and overall less aggravations.

Most older player like myself prefer the slow buildup. For new players coming from PES it will be a steep learning curve. The game is more of a simulation.

I know a lot of PES hardcore fans hate Fifa ...i did too, until I played the game....not try it ...but play the game. Have not purchased a PES game since 2009.

I test the PES demos every year....the game is still garbage compared to Fifa.

Fifa does have its frustrations but with millions of people playing the game, they are always releasing training videos on how to improve in areas where you struggle ...and they work.

I am not forcing Fifa on anyone, but it is undeniably the best football game on the face of this planet.... hands down.

Fifa still suffers from issues, but there are more positives than negatives about this game.

Multiple game modes offline and online to suit my needs, practice arena to improve skill, up to date rosters for all teams, excellent location/skill level match making online, boots/kits/stadiums add to the realistic feel of the game and this year's inclusion of the women's team is a fresh touch to the game.

I can go on and about the positives.

Honestly, give it a try...what do you have to lose?

Fifa16 ....the real football simulation.

have had my last straw with PES '16!

I apologize for this being a negative thread but i wanted to see if others have had the same experience with PES16 as i've had.

I've found the cpu cheats. I play on top player difficulty and have no problems on exhibition but during a league season i've noticed that the cpu comes up with ridiculous goals occasionally. A goal scored from the goal line outside the penalty box by a 60 rated player; An impossible free kick from a player w 76 place kicking from 30+ yards (i'm using a great keeper as well); if you ask the wall to jump they'll dummy the free kick; no matter what you do they will score.
It's pathetic that konami had to cheat like this; the aforementioned goals don't even happen in real life let alone with low rated players.

I've moved your post here, there's no need to create another thread for this (and even more with the same name).

As for your complaints, we all surely noticed them. I've especially noticed the FK thing. If you make the wall jump and there's two AI players nearby to kick it, they'll dummy the first attempt and forbid you from jumping again. And if there's just one player, you can't make the wall jump. There no logic behind this other than pure cheating.

thanks for your comments. If they cheat then i'll cheat lol. I will replay matches if i see abnormal goals lol.

That jumping thing is pathetic. How do they expect to get more customers.

You'd think there would be enough checks during production to stop this kind of thing.

I don't own many Pes titles (Pes 5,9,10,12,14 only)
and I still play PES 12. The CPU kinda cheats there too. I remember that they scored perfect long shots against me in the D2 PES League

I'm still playing, and enjoying PES 2013.

I haven't regretted getting rid of PES 2016 (a few months ago) and switching to PES 2013. The only football games I play now are PES 2013 and FIFA 14 (occasionally I'll play FIFA 09). It's a sad day when we have to go back to 'classic' versions- it's the first year I've had to do that- and I've been playing every year since FIFA 2001 (PC) (... PES 3 (PC))!

FUT and My Club have helped to ruin offline play- EA/Konami only care about fleecing people!

I was playing pes 5. I got promoted in my first season in ML. Then i signed three players in transfer window. No team offered to buy my players and i lost because i had no money. Embarrassing.

Then I went back to pes 2009. Great game. Before they started adding all the fake teams. Classic ML format with just 4 leagues. The game actually has fouls and cards.

The way i look at it is if you have a game where so many feautures that have an "effect" on gameplay...i mean the Master League is full of them. Youre going to be in for a very scripted game. Konami simply aren't able to add the balance or maybe just dont put the effort in make it all work. It feels like a very basic system trying to do amazing things, so end up with obvious scripting to make up for it.

Ali

It is happening again
Didn't really want to create a new thread for this, this thread seems a good place. What is the point of Konami adding new players in the live updates, if they're not gonna put any effort into it? No effort put into the player attributes, and everyone seems to have a height of 180!

if you play friendly games in standard mode it's a different game to friendly euro 2016 or friendly cl mode. this is ridiculous. it's like playing two completely different video games. in first mode the games end like 5:4 or 6:3 and in the other modes you have 1:0 2:1 and so on. what the hell is this? and don't talk about placebo effect, happens sonce the last gameplay patch

Totally right!

Konami is copying Scripting from EA Fifa.

Easy way to convince Fifa players to come play PES.

Easy goals, easy breakthrough, easy play.

Konami aren't getting Fifa players and worse than that, is throwing away PES players because of this stupid scripting.
