ive been hearing all the people complain recently how pes 6 was way better than 09 and how they playing this instead of 09 well i said id give it a try took out my dusty old silver ps2 stuck it on got the team i wanted togther and stasrted playen its good but no where near as good as 09

09 is a much better game i played 08 aswell and it is better than pes 6 and not as good as 09 when i first got pes 2008 for ps2 i thought hmm is there really that much difference between this and pes 6 it took time but i relised 08 was much better

09 is the best one made so far of course theres a lot of room for improvement and things that need to be fixed some of you have mentioned the free kicks and how your player freezes after hitting the ball this really annoyed me this wasnt a problem before but it is now os they have gone back on that and thoose invisible barriers seem to be real worse too when your tryen to defend in bal im sure they will fix theese problems i hope so anyway but other than a handfull of little problems they have put out a real good game

the shooting in this game is amazing u can hit real great dipping strikes

be nice if there was more higher difficulty settings tho if it was a bit harder on top player

i just went to fifa 09 this year...its clearly a better game.

I agree, there is no denying it.

Fifa is better than PES in almost every aspect this year, except "be a pro" in my opinion.

PES got too much unrealistic ball physics, weird player AI and your player feels too "pressured" to get off a decent shot if there is a defender within two meters...
Fifa this year, while far from perfect is better.

I'm sorry :erm:

I've always wished I could control every player on the pitch and make the off-the-ball runners go where I want them - mind power operated gaming would be awesome. There have been many occassions when a player is making a good run into the box, but stops one stride too early, or turns the wrong way. They've taken a small step forwad to this a couple of games back when you could press R2 to make a player run forwards, but I wish this wasn't exclusively down to after passing.

You've got more freedom to control more players on the Wii version, but with all the arrows all over the place, it looks a bit messy.

Practicing tactics and set-plays is another thing I would love. I've wondered why they don't use the system from Champ Manager (not sure if in FM), where you can set the positioning for players in particular situations, on and off the ball. Again, they've tried to take a step in the right direction by allowing us to allocate players to go for corners, but it would be great if we could also allocate players to defend corners. Tall strikers would be handy in defending corners and we could have pacy players outside the box to break for a couter-attack. I assume you can do this by selecting more than one formation in the tactics area and switching before the ball goes out, but I would prefer an automatic switch.

I think some or most of the abilities stated are available in the game, it's just that I don't look deep into all that is available.

Spot on - that would be brilliant

The R2-after passing thing is even more annoying when you consider that FIFA has had something similar since about 2003 I think (where you press it anytime and it makes a run). As someone who started on FIFA before moving to PES, it makes a world of difference.

I think in general, particularly in Master League, traning should have more of a difference, and I echo someone's earlier call for them to bring back the mission-orientated training as well.

I also miss the Random Selection missions - preferably with a bit more depth to them though.

I really enjoyed FIFA until the point where I realised that I could score every time, on every difficulty with the finesse shot. Devalues the game infinitely. Also PES's passing is so good, it's something FIFA's still trying to emulate.

On the plus side; I will be trading FIFA in tomorrow and getting Little Big Planet and maybe (if I'm feeling adventurous and shooty) Resistance.

Actually I think that the AI of pes 09 can improve but it's definately better than Past pes's.
Good players in Pes can shoot even when there's pressure. I know it can get annoying but in reality, body balance and pressure are all going against the player that is going to shoot.

I've played professional football myself, I am not any famous or anything, but I've played and scored against clubs that has done decent in champions league (this is about eight years ago)

The pressure you feel when Brede Hangeland (or Roberto Ayala) is coming at you and you got the ball ready for a shot is non existant.
You focus on the ball and the shot and the keeper, you place your left foot (or right) next to the ball and hoofs it.

Well, that is my experience with it at least, you simply don't have time to worry about being tackled, you just have to decide before you get the ball if you are going to shoot or pass.
Pressure is non existant unless it's physical, i.e the defender is close enough to push you off balance.

If the defender is too far away from you to apply physical pressure, or is close enough but are not doing it then you are simply free to shoot without any handicap at all.

I honestly think most real life players over 16 years have a shooting technique that equals at least 75 in PES.
Players below 75 can't hit the ball cleanly unless they shoot a penalty.

Anyway, I only play BAL mode so the weird AI is really the most annoying part. Especially the inability to dribble and cross on the player team.
Opponent teams seem to cross and dribble just fine, too well in fact.

^Famous players feel pressure when defenders like Chiellini is around them. Feeling pressure is a part of football. I meant if the defender is close enough to you, then body balance comes into play.

That's another thing that annoys me, FIFA didn't had the R2 pass-and-move, but by pressing the R1 button you could execute an off-the-ball run without having to Pass the ball.

I think that Konami should at the very least introduce Another Basic Alternative to the R2 pass and move, maybe by tapping another button we can execute an off-the-ball run without having to pass or touch the ball.

It would make a world of difference because it would give way to better gameplay. For one thing, we would have the option of using the Old R2 pass and move, whilst at the same time also setting Another off-the-ball run via the Alternative.

The mere fact that Konami has Not introduced a single new Alternative to the Old "pass and move".. It seems Lazy, and it gives the impression of a Konami lacking ideas.

How do you want your players to run?? How can you dictate Some of your Teams Off-The-Ball Actions without having to "Manually" accommodate every player on the pitch??

When will the game change from, the Computer Dictating everything for us, leaving us with little to do other than just deciding When and How to Pass or Shoot the ball. When will it change from us having to Guess how the Com will move our players -to- Us Dictating how the com moves our players.

I think it could very well be possible with the PS3's engine, but judging by the look of things, we cannot expect Revolutionary and Significant features anytime soon.

Too Busy Working to Post
Been playing PES5 for the time being till I get my PS3 and play Fifa09.

I played PES6 for half an hour and got mad at just about everything, the shooting truely is dreadful, then thought see if I have an old PES5 masterleague and I did, I find it a lot more assisted but I dont mind that if I am honest, the passing was smooth and the shooting was 90% better than PES6 I controlled the ball passing it for ages before the oppo got a touch, I got beat of Chelsea 2-1 but my goal by XAVI was top notch 30 yards out first time Cech got no where near it, might dig out a few more early versions and see how much better it used to be!!

Merry Christmas everyone.

i fancy a go at PES5 but the old xbox is dead used to love it so much, PES6 for PC will have to do, but i do love it, enjoying it so much more than 09 now, loads of great patches for it too, there is a patch on evo web to change the basic sound effects, so crowd noise goal celebration etc, so when the home team scores its loud and crazy when the away scores its less noisy and some boos from home side, brilliant atmosphere also loud OOOOH noises when keeper makes a stop of a shot is narrowly wide, that along with fifa com patch and then this seasons teams and kits makes for a game that in my opinion for pure playing enjoyment stamps all over 09.
