Is it possible to beat Top Player?

I'm finding top player too easy on 08 and 09, if I'm a similarly matched team it's often like 6 or 7 - 0 in 10 mins

Dont think so dude, but I do get what you are trying to say, I would love a few higher levels, even though getting consistently beaten would be very frustrating, And I mean controller lobbed at the wall style, It would be very refreshing at the same time, After all, if the game is good (and PES always has been) then the difficulty becomes a positive, Much Like Resident Evil 5 on Pro mode, drives me absolutely mental sometimes but I always go back for more. I do think a lot of people would inevitably moan and bitch about getting constantly hammered 3,4 and 5-0, I personally think it would be awesome.

Know what you mean!I always save my game before i play the next on ML and if it were a bit harder i wouldnt mind playing the same game until i eventually beat em!It would raise your game a bit more with more difficulty. What attributes to make it harder though?Ive found sometimes a match is hard when you just cant score after having ten goal atemts which is a bit unfair when your strikers have 95 strike accuracy! Then the COM has a mad goal pinball scramble and puts one away first time!Really if the COM kept possesion better and had better pace that could be a challenge

The best way to do it is to transfer all the best players on a team.

Buffon

LB Sergio Ramos cannavaro Ferdinand Alves

Pirlo

Gerrard

C.ronaldo Kaka Messi

Ibrahimovc

Put this team on excellent condition. Then you use thailand on normal or worse condition. best way to get better.

Wait so, play with all the best players, with the best stats and play against the worst team on the game? Surely when it comes to using real-to-life teams, it'll feel a lot harder because you don't always have the superstars to rely upon.

I think it'd be the opposite. Use a smaller team and play a big team for a few games. You may take a couple of beatings, but playing against the best teams with smaller teams will stand you in good stead when you play as a big team against another big team.

I find it ridiculously boring nowadays because the defense AI is so ridiculously bad. It's far too easy to score, even with bad players if you've played enough and understand the predictable AI.

Meanwhile, BAL AI defense is just as bad (on your team, anyway). If your player has dribbling stats, you can outdribble any defense because you know them. If not, your defense makes loads and loads and loads of mistakes and costs you stupid goals.

That's why BaL is awful. It's so frustrating. One thing is to concede goals to AI attacking brilliance, but no such thing exists. Your defense makes too many stupid mistakes that are blatantly fixable.

I've played Top Player for sometime and let me tell to you it is impossible.

But really, it is actually pretty easy when you practice.

I don't think that all of you really beat the crap out of top player. I sure you struggle a bit, and who knows, maybe one out of a million games, you lose.

I win sometimes and lose sometimes, and I definitely don't win 5:0 every game.

One out of a million is a realistic ratio. It's just strange, really... I often get 5, 6, even 12 goals in a game because after around 60 minutes, if the opponent is down, the AI automatically goes red (the aggression bar) and it becomes far too easy to score goals via counterattacks and 1v1's.

Yeah I'm just settling on Regular atm, reason being I'm juts about to start training on Proffesional, because on Top player I usually won 2-1, or drew like 2-2 or 1-1 having a million chances which on any other difficulty would go in... PES09 is the hardest game for me, but if I use team strategies, like my favourite ones as the whole team moves as 3 walls, and from goal kicks I move a SMFer to either far side and kick the ball to him, having scored like that about 75% of the time... It's not my ability that lacks, My PES09 Online record was won 16, drew 4 and lost 2 Or won 14, drew 6 and lost 2 (I know I lost 2). I just struggle like hell against the CPU...

Yes, It is easily fixable. You can be something called a D-M-F, DEFENSIVE - MIDFIELDER. Just thought you'd might like to know. You can always drop back you know. And playing on Top player apparently, I find the defense's on both teams almost unbreakable. Well not so much the opponents.

Well, I believe it is not so difficult. One thing that I prefer to do is to start playing a game at a high difficulty level because than I have an idea how the COM plays. If I start at Amateur, I will have much more difficulties to go on further. With much practise, you can get better. Once I totally Annhilated Bayern Munchen. I scored 9 goals in Top Player with Chelsea. I am not kidding. Another time I won a 6 x 0 game against Liverpool with the same team. Unfortunatelly, I am not perfect ;) There are some games that I almost suicide when I see how bad I played. I have already lost to some small teams like Steaua Bucareste and Red Star...

I always play Top Player and I always win. On Master League on Top Player, I was playing AC Milan and won 7-0 in a 5 minute match and that's not a rare score for me, I score like this all the time. You just have to practice and get used to it.

I'm so used to the AI on Top Player that I tried to play on medium settings and struggled to win.

Just keep practicing, you'll get there :)

I actually went through a full season on Top Player conceding zero goals, no restarts - its really not that hard, I play a 3 - 6 - 1, 3 CBs, 2 deep lying DMFs, 2 flying wingers, 2 AMF and a tall striker, keep possession well, lots of assists, lots of goals

Mullet,

I can score long range shots, but it still seems to me a bit of lucky. Do you have any tips about it?

I agree with Mullet on this - the trick is to know which foot your player is best with, and angle him so he can get the most into it and not have to "outside the boot" the ball. For example, attacking the goal to the right with a right footed player, when shooting have him dribble down and to the right, for a left footed, up and to the left.

Top Player is not that hard, I play using keyboard and don't use many fancy moves and get the job done.

They way I do it is by not attacking with the same pattern the whole game, but try to combine using the wings to get in crosses and quick 1-2's and a through ball in the center field.

Crosses have to be timed right to be any threat, and is most lethal when executed just as you pass the 16 meter line from the wing.

I'm using quick players over tall ones in the front, if the cross are done correct a small player will net it just as good as any towering ones.

In defence I send an AI player to pressure the ball while I cover loose players or space with the one i'm currently controlling.

Key features for you, is reaction, quick decision and composure in front of goal.
