I've lost motivation for playing Pes 2011

Pro evo games either get better or worse the more you play them after buying it. After a few days of playing I must say I've lost motivation for the game. First of all, Pes 2011 is magnificent when you play against a human opponen, but I've discovered that the game is useless playing against the computer. Seriously, the opponents can't hold the ball within their team for more than 5 seconds (yes, Top player). Every time they have the ball they counter-attack and go straight for goal. I've never seen my opponents pass the ball calmly holding position, building up play slowly and safely. It is not satisfying att all that I can wall-pass thoguh the opponents and ouplay them for 90 minutes without seeing them hardly touching the ball or building up their own play. This destroys the feeling of realism almost completely. I play against the computer much and enjoy League-mode for example. Even in Pes 2010 the AI played more lifelike and realistic.

I don't want to be able to pass around and outplay any team without any challenge. Whats the point of even playing as Barcelona? I want a game where I know that if I don't concentrate and play well it will be me that gets outplayed. Only then you can feel satisfaction after playing good passes.

I want to play with Inter against Barcelona knowing that Barca will dictate the game where I have to play defensive catanaccio.

All this makes me disappointed. Because otherwise it is a beautiful game. I hope I can find motivation to play again.

Any one feeling the same way? That Pes 2011 is a game for people playing against other people.

1) Inter murdered Barca at the san siro, no cattenachio there.

2) Your right in a way, but think about it like this, the game gives you a chance to make your own Inter Milan, yes Jose Mourinho's Inter played defensive football at the nou camp because they were already 3-1 up and it was just common sense, but in PES mourinho is not in charge, you are in charge and you have an opportunity to make the team play a different style of football, you are making your own Inter.

It's like championship manager, people take 3rd division teams into the champions league, is that totally mimicking real life???/ Probably not, but it doesnt always make the game feel so unrealistic because you are building your own interpretation of the clubs and anything is possible.

Ive explained this badly, but see what you think.

I do find it very easy to hold onto the ball even against class opposition. My first season in ML was very good as I had the default players which make bad passes, so I lost the ball a lot. Now that I have got a few signings in, nothing special just trying to build a team up gradually, I find myself 3rd in the Prem and in all the games I have played, I seem to get 65% possession minimum. All I have bought is 1 winger and 1 striker, then rest of my team is either the default team or players I have brought up from the youth team.

If I get my team into Champions League, it would be like Blackpool getting there. It might just be better doing ML online although I hope my lag improves for that.

When I first tried the CL mode (on Top Player) I lost the first leg of the Last 16 tie against Roma 3-1 ...then barely touched the ball in the away leg. They played safe for most of it. :/

I see your point but I dont know if you see mine. I've always bought Pes because it resembles the realism of football better than Fifa. But this year I am a bit disappointed with the AI. The passing system is too easy in Pes 2011, and the AI isn't good enough. I can play with lets say Udinese and dominate completely against Inter, even though I might loose. That is not realistic. Simple as that.

That is realistic if you lose. Just because you can keep the ball doesnt mean you are the better team and will win. Look at arsenal against chelsea, nearly every year they keep the ball but cant break through chelsea. So that is realistic with your Udinese example.

Also, just play against friends? I never play pes against the computer, I dont really see the point and I dont have time to play a master league. Just play online if no one is around, ive found online this year to be very good, seen a few bad things said on the forum but personally ive had very few problems with lag or anything

Again, I actually agree with alot of what you have said here. But the thing is, this is the way it always has been on PES, I create Fiorentina team on PES 6 that was just unbelievable, was destroying AC Milan 4-0 in the san siro on the hardest possible setting, but that's because I created a fantastic team after 2/3 seasons so it didnt feel so bad (If i was losing 4-0, I probably would have complained alot more)

The passing system needs to be harder, but its certainly a step in the right direction, the AI is retarded in alot of ways, Amateur (resident site loon) said something to me the other day and it made me think, the fact that you cant make players make a forward run like you can in fifa, probably saves this game because the AI is so dumb on through balls you'd literally end up with chance after chance all the time. The AI needs improving, but you know what........I think right now, it might just be fine for me, because I'd rather this than the disgusting cheating AI of PES 2008, I have to say this now.....

Ive been having so much fun with this years PES, it's so annoying at times, and maybe I'll get sick of it eventually, but if you have come off fifa like me, its a welcome change.

I guess your'e right. The AI has always been complained about, even if its good enough or bad. But nothing goes up against another human opponent. I think I just will have to decrease the stats of some teams I often play with, or just play with a mediocre team to get that extra challenge.

In the end its a game that you can have really fun with as you say. Lets say Pes 2011 is a rough diamond, waiting to be polished.

Well I like to play against the computer too. Master league and League-mode are good ways to live out your footballing fantasies on the pitch. Especially with your favourite team.

i was playing as newcastle in the league on professional, against blackpool and beat them 4-0 away from home. (the game before this I got beat 3-0, which is realistic as newcastle never beat man u!)

carling cup comes round, blackpool at st james, easy game right, beat them 4-0 away from home can easily beat them at home....

I was 1-0 down in the 1st ten minutes, blackpool played magnificently, every miss pass i played they capitalised on it.

i equalised, they went ahead (through a fantasic goal about 40 yards out!) i equalised again just before half time.

80th minute i go ahead with a scrappy tap in, i'm thinking ha got it in the bag, wrong! they score from a corner in the 89th min to take it to extra time.

2 mins before the 1st half of extra time finishing I score a great header, i'm through to the next round i'm thinking, wrong again! one of there players play a one two through my midfield, then a long ball straight into my area, where harewood flicks the ball down for another blackpool player to slot it passed my keeper. 3-3
penalties..

i didn't know how to take penalties so lost!

now this has never happened to me on fifa, if this happens in real life its a great "giant kill" for blackpool, i think its really realistic which is great!

totally agree with blaugrana90. its so boring to play against the cpu even with teams like shaktar or spartak mosvka on top player in champions league, its too easy. the game is pure online fun, but since yesterday all my games in master league online get interrupted in the second half and my opponents get a 3:0, what is that? so frustrating, i was always in the lead and then this shit..

The AI on top player is so inconsistent, there is an apparent lack of 'real' team styles in PES2011. Arsenal the team of attacking possession and quick counter did neither, Bolton long ball merchants as per there team style not once pelted a long ball for Davies to win. I think in a league format certainly the AI looks to challenge you in a way that ruins the game. Teams switching to diamond formations and playing players out of position. When Man Utd switch to a frankly bizarre 4-3-3 with the central midfielders pushed up you'd expect to find space in midfield to exploit the spaces they give you or at least you would if you were allowed to. The passing ratchets up too fast to keep up with as a mere human being. I have witnessed this countless times. I don't know what the game speed does AI wise other than affecting your own timing of passes and speed of animation. It seems fairly redundant.

I've played the game on each speed setting and half way through the season you will meet a team that will play aggressively to the point of it being hard to keep up with them.

I've said it before and I say it again, I'm not against a challenge but the AI needs to be a little more cute in terms of how real football is played, although it was a nice touch to see Goalies push up for corners in the last minute ... I'll give them that
