Just Terrible. Want to love PES again but:

Why don't you play something else in the meantime until it's released.

I have been doing. But it seems pointless to buy a game, only to have it sit on the shelf for a month and a half. At the same time, if I wanted to play with out of date squads, I would've kept PES 2015.

I've learnt my lesson anyway, I won't be pre ordering PES again.

I've played both FIFA 16 and PES 16 (on the PC) and I have problems with both, but I do feel there are less restrictions in PES. I don't automatically dislike a game but I do have a memory so if a series doesn't impress me over time then I usually assume that won't change and that may create a little reluctance to that franchise but I would always still try it, thus far I have yet to be surprised.

Onto PES 16 (for the PC), it just feels like skating on ice, the animations are very inconsistent. I feel Konami have been very sloppy in this area, I see a lot of collision detection and general weirdness, like players feet disappearing under the grass or through the ball, I really don't see how they could have messed this up, compared to 15 its all over the place.
Yes they've included some nice additions to the animation sequence which I'll admit is pretty to look at but overall in terms of how the animations affect play there doesn't seem to be the same weight to players and this, for me, drastically reduces the realism (we're heading into FIFA territory here).

I feel the game seems sped up with many animations not really matching what's happening, so attempting consecutive tricks can results in strange things happening like skipped animations and general inconsistency.

Also on the shooting there is a lot of variation but no substance, I like the added keeper reactions but I don't feel anything when I score, its as though the skill element to scoring is nil.

I won't go into too much detail now because I'm going to write a review but I feel the game doesn't feel realistic, on higher difficulty things tend to get rather silly (and broken) - I just don't feel it, in fact there are bits from 16 that would have made 15 the perfect game - it feels like a downgraded or patched 15 in that it gives you something but then takes something away and I feel sadly, for the PC version anyway, too much has been taken away. There are + points but so many negatives that in the end I went straight back to 15, luckily I got my refund off Steam.

Quick verdict: All fur-coat and no knickers

Unfortunately, I have to agree with most of what you said.
I'm trying to like this years game but I'm still having more fun playing PES2015.

After playing PES 2016, playing PES 2015 feels arcady now even if I'm playing with 0-pass support. PES2015 feels more responsive and makes you feel like your in total control offensively and defensively. PES2016 is more realistic but PES2015 is more fun.

For me the gameplay itself is great. The lack of roster updates is what is very frustrating. Online gameplay needs a tweak too feels too fast and hectic a lot of times IMO... not to mention that in edit mode we need more than 340 slots for kits and a better stadium editor.

Hi gamers (I am on PS4)

I have been playing PES 2016 for more than a week, the following is my thoughts about this game:

Graphics: I think its fine, dont care much about graphics, if you really want good graphics, go watch a movie.

Game play: its good, this the essential part for me and the main reason why I like PES series, you can use different tactics, formations to play your style games, on Super star LV, you need to organize both offence and defense very carefully and wisely to actually win a match especially against top teams, its tough.

Passing: better than in PES 2015, I complained a lot for the passing in PES 2015, passing is smooth and consistent in PES 16, yes, sometimes you mispass the ball even you get the control right, but for the most of time you can pass the ball to exactly where you want them to be. Can feel the effort KONAMI put into to improve passing.

Shooting: scoring feels statisfying, although the movement for shooting lacks variation and diversity, most of the shots feels similar to others.

goal keepers: be honest, I think goalies are average, some low shots from tight angles could be saved but still go into the net. Generally speaking, keepers are not bad but could be better.

referees: very lenient for obvious fouls, but its for both CUP and you. Well timed tackles are rewarded with getting the possesion back and counter. But some fouls should definitely be given yellow or even red.

PES 16 has 2 major problems: 1,squads tranfer without being updated. 2, On super star LV, indefendable scoring from top teams like Barca, Bayer.

I like PES 2016, get a lot of fun playing it. The above is just my personal views about this game.

Good luck

Agree with most of the OP. The referees may as well not be in the game. Not a massive issue offline but online it's a absolute nightmare as it turns into a game of poorly timed and unpunished slide tackles. The defending is atrocious with most defences completely undone by punting it down the middle and don't even get me started on the goalkeepers. I'll give it until the first patch but if none of these particular issues are fixed, even remotely, I'm done with it.

I have since purchased FIFA 16 and really enjoying the whole package. I just feel PES is so foreign and out of touch with western expectation of what a soccer game should be like. As for the delay in roster updates I read about, its a joke. I paid £50 for gods sake. I have purchased and supported Konami spending:) hundreds of pounds over the years, this time was the last.

Another disappointing year for PES! However, the 2016 game shows improvements over 2015....but they have failed to address those naggin issues.

Poor Online...Button Lag
Outdated Rosters...Should be released on day one
Difficulty in Defending....player run away from attackers
Ping Pong Passing .....easy to get to ball upfield
16 directional dribbling...Players can only turn in minimal spaces
Eratic shooting...
Outdated Animations.....Crouching running players, turns, burst of speed....
...all outdated.

Fifa 16 has addressed some of their issues to make a better (not great) game this year.

No more ping pong passing
No more speed demons
No more chipped/lobbed passes
No more 100% accuracy ball control
....instead
They slowed game ...Slow build up game
Much better defending ...defenders recover faster
Great shooting

Someone please play with the women's team and let me know how it plays.

peace

agree with all the above; makes the game much better. Players are smaller relative to the pitch which gives it a better feel as well.

I played with the women, they probably move too fast and too skilled for real life but the animations are more female like. Pony-tails probably help to give it that feel. They seem to me to have same skills at a 70-75 related player when it should be 45-55. But I had fun

Told Adam that ML had a bug, that only games were played at night and it was going to make ML really stale if it wasn't fixed and next thing I know I see this. Hahaha what a loser.

Adam really needs to learn that there is such a thing as constructive criticism, and that it's his job to act as a go-between, between the players and Konami, and not just pass on Konami's messages.

Hi there

I played ML in Spanish league, a lot of matches were held in daytime. What league do you play in for ML? I think playing at night is good you can see things on the pictch more clearly than in sunny day time.

Ali,

You are 100% right!

As a matter of fact all criticism should be looked at in detail. With the great news of PES making a come back, this would be an ideal time reach out to dedicated PES sites (such as PESGaming/PESFan) asking them to compile their subscribers concerns and wrap it up in a summary for Konami to look at.

However, again we realize what has been reiterated in all the previous yearly release threads ...Adam/Konami do not give a rats arse about what issues we have.

It is 2015 and we still cannot get an updated Roster release on day 1.....and we actually believe we can overtake Fifa?

Hate to sound pessimistic ...but with Adam's and Konami's lack of interest, I believe PES is stuck in the mud.

EA has a special section on their forum to report bugs and ask for a standardized format to include console and specific details. Its how they work to fix issues and likely rely on it.

Konami have Bhatti.

Hi a fellow blockee of the Bhatti man here. Seems he's blocked a lot of us since the update fiasco. If you look at his Twitter since it was announced that the roster update would be delayed, I find it interesting how he's managed to twist the situation.

1st tweet (Not direct quote) Sorry about the wait till update but what about that brilliant gameplay. (Distraction technique)

He then went on to complain about the 'hate/abuse' he's received trying to play the victim. Come on it's twitter, even Ghandi would be routinely abused by the trolls let alone a figure head for a company. The vast majority of complaints I saw were maybe passionate but not abusive to him.

Then to take the biscuit while many of us are fuming feeling duped by PES/Bhatti he announces his promotion!! Whoop de f'ing do. Is this guy so devoid from reality that he doesn't appreciate how that may be perceived by many customers?

Sadly his Twitter seems full of brown nosers and yes men 'You've saved PES' Pathetic. As people have said it's vitally important that they hear everyone's opinions not just the ones that massage his ego.

Bhatti should have been grovelling about the roster update, at least make it seem as if you care. Or at least have a private account for him to brag about his promotion.

I'd advise everyone to have a look at some of Bhatti's interviews over the last few months to note his lies or half truths. Then you'll see his 'tells' and will probably help when trying to establish if he's lying next year.

As for the actual game I don't really know where these 9.5 ratings and best footy game of all time are coming from. I'd rate it at 7.5 or maybe 8. I've played 25 games on PS3 on Top player (ML) the passing is great and the varying styles of opposition are great as well.

My big problems with it are the GKs, they hardly save anything and seem to start from very poor positioning which means sometimes they don't even save shots that are straight down the middle.

The other huge problem is when the opposition get down the wing they 99% of the time cut inside, hardly ever go to the by line. It was the same in 2015 and it makes it so easy to defend against and is completely unrealistic.

Thanks rant over.

Hello, I've joined because I feel so strongly about this year's version.

I feel that we have been duped by Bhatti, so to speak, he's like a 21st century Delboy! He knows how to make a good sound-bite, but I've always had an uneasy feeling when watching him being interviewed, he comes across as a bit of a snake-oil salesman.

Anyway...

I was so much looking forward to PES 2016- this was FINALLY going to be the one that eclipsed good old PES 5 (/6), FOOTBALL IS BACK(!!!111!!1) and all that. Well, as I navigated the cobbled together mix of old and new menu style I eagerly anticipated my first match. Imagine my dismay when it turned into an ice hockey goal fest. I had it set to 'Top Player'- and am a very experienced football game player- perhaps it was a 'one off', eh?

Well, no it wasn't, each game was like that. I know how to defend, remember that we can only manipulate our players as programmed, if it's going to score, it is likely that it'll do just that. I noticed that I could almost score at will (all of my settings were on manual)- the GOALKEEPERS are terrible, everyone knows this.

I cannot understand the glowing reviews- people are so blinded by an irrational hatred of all things EA Sports that they can't see the wood for the trees.

This year's FIFA is absolutely brilliant, they have AT LAST aimed the game towards those of us who like to play the game as a simulation- sound build-up play, varying formation and roles, closing down opposing attackers, creating space etc. etc. This is like the Twilight Zone- EA have made their game into a simulation (in my opinion)- and Konami have made theirs to cater towards the casual/'arcade' crowd. EA are being slated, Konami are being praised!!

FIFA 16 is like an almost complete football package- e.g. I love watching selected highlights at the end of the game. They have put so much into the game, Konami so little, and yet Konami are praised for releasing a woefully inadequate product.

It's alright being a fan of PES (and I used to be a massive fan)- and back in 2003-2006 it was by far the SUPERIOR game. Times have moved on, FIFA has evolved immensely, yet PES has stagnated, perhaps due to the absence of 'Seabass.' I haven't felt this disappointed in PES since the debacle that was PES 2008 (PS3 version). That's when I switched to console gaming. Ahhhh... those puke-green pitches and puke-inducing gameplay.

Yes, this an InterWeb 'rant'- I traded my game after only a few days, I lost $30, but I decided to cut my losses and enjoy FIFA. I'm no 'fanboy' of either game, I just want good value for money and an immersive footballing experience, and I truly believe that FIFA provides that this year. I traded last year's FIFA back in February, it was 'okay' but it was just like the same old FIFA. They've changed it for the better this year, in my opinion.

I sincerely wish that Konami would get its act together and make a game that 'pushes the envelope' (corny expression) on the PS4, I actually liked PES 2013 on the Xbox 360... but time marches on, gamesplayers demand more these days, consoles aren't cheap.

It's like Groundhog Day- every year people tell Konami what they'd like to see in the following year's iteration... Bhatti's all over Youtube etc. ... the hype machine goes into 5th gear... (paid??) reviews give the game 8 or 9 out of 10... the public make the best of a bad situation and hope that next year will be better.

It's like mass psychosis: "Maybe it's me, IGN gave it a billion out of 10!" / -:

I just had to get that off my chest, thanks for reading!

Adam Bhatti comes across as a malignant narcissist, he's only telling the truth when his lips aren't moving! ; -)
