Hello, I've joined because I feel so strongly about this year's version.
I feel that we have been duped by Bhatti, so to speak, he's like a 21st century Delboy! He knows how to make a good sound-bite, but I've always had an uneasy feeling when watching him being interviewed, he comes across as a bit of a snake-oil salesman.
Anyway...
I was so much looking forward to PES 2016- this was FINALLY going to be the one that eclipsed good old PES 5 (/6), FOOTBALL IS BACK(!!!111!!1) and all that. Well, as I navigated the cobbled together mix of old and new menu style I eagerly anticipated my first match. Imagine my dismay when it turned into an ice hockey goal fest. I had it set to 'Top Player'- and am a very experienced football game player- perhaps it was a 'one off', eh?
Well, no it wasn't, each game was like that. I know how to defend, remember that we can only manipulate our players as programmed, if it's going to score, it is likely that it'll do just that. I noticed that I could almost score at will (all of my settings were on manual)- the GOALKEEPERS are terrible, everyone knows this.
I cannot understand the glowing reviews- people are so blinded by an irrational hatred of all things EA Sports that they can't see the wood for the trees.
This year's FIFA is absolutely brilliant, they have AT LAST aimed the game towards those of us who like to play the game as a simulation- sound build-up play, varying formation and roles, closing down opposing attackers, creating space etc. etc. This is like the Twilight Zone- EA have made their game into a simulation (in my opinion)- and Konami have made theirs to cater towards the casual/'arcade' crowd. EA are being slated, Konami are being praised!!
FIFA 16 is like an almost complete football package- e.g. I love watching selected highlights at the end of the game. They have put so much into the game, Konami so little, and yet Konami are praised for releasing a woefully inadequate product.
It's alright being a fan of PES (and I used to be a massive fan)- and back in 2003-2006 it was by far the SUPERIOR game. Times have moved on, FIFA has evolved immensely, yet PES has stagnated, perhaps due to the absence of 'Seabass.' I haven't felt this disappointed in PES since the debacle that was PES 2008 (PS3 version). That's when I switched to console gaming. Ahhhh... those puke-green pitches and puke-inducing gameplay.
Yes, this an InterWeb 'rant'- I traded my game after only a few days, I lost $30, but I decided to cut my losses and enjoy FIFA. I'm no 'fanboy' of either game, I just want good value for money and an immersive footballing experience, and I truly believe that FIFA provides that this year. I traded last year's FIFA back in February, it was 'okay' but it was just like the same old FIFA. They've changed it for the better this year, in my opinion.
I sincerely wish that Konami would get its act together and make a game that 'pushes the envelope' (corny expression) on the PS4, I actually liked PES 2013 on the Xbox 360... but time marches on, gamesplayers demand more these days, consoles aren't cheap.
It's like Groundhog Day- every year people tell Konami what they'd like to see in the following year's iteration... Bhatti's all over Youtube etc. ... the hype machine goes into 5th gear... (paid??) reviews give the game 8 or 9 out of 10... the public make the best of a bad situation and hope that next year will be better.
It's like mass psychosis: "Maybe it's me, IGN gave it a billion out of 10!" / -:

I just had to get that off my chest, thanks for reading!
Adam Bhatti comes across as a malignant narcissist, he's only telling the truth when his lips aren't moving! ; -)
