Konami: NO online for XBox!

Konami: NO online for XBox.. or do they??

Today I made a phonecall to Konami Benelux, because I wanted to know if I should buy an Xbox for playing PES4 on-line:
The answer was clear and simple: There is no on-line gaming for XBox and also not for PS 2 or PC. So DON'T buy Xbox if you only want it for PES4 online.
It's simply NOT true!

I also asked when PES4 will be released. Here are the data:
Playstation 2 = 14 oktober
Xbox and PC = 15 november

EDIT: See my posts at page 6 for new info :)

Your telling me that Konami are going to tell you this on the phone, you a random punter, and all the games stores on the net and across the UK dont even know.

At the moment, it's between believing someone who works for Konami and believing a few XBOX magazines. At least Han made the effort to find out from an official source.

IMO, I think it's 75% that it will not be online.

If it was to be online, they would have sorted it out ages ago and made it a big selling point in their advertising. Considering it as a last minute option doesn't seem very likely.

Zyg is right, there is not enough being said about the game being online on any platform, so i doubt it will be now. In which case, it's bad news for pc owners, as we have been multiplayer ready for years. Can't believe Konami couldnt get it on for us...anyway, i want the online experience to be a smooth one and konami feel that this cannot be realised in this release of the game, then maybe best it's not in yet.

I dont think itll be online and im not really that bothered because if they concentrated on online play too much they might ruin the game because they wouldnt be focusing enough on gameplay

Konami is playing fair. Why would they put PES4 online for X-BOX when PES debuted on PS platform. It wouldn`t be fair to millions of Konami & PES & WE that own PS2 and are desperately waiting for PES to be online.

fair point. however, most of the big games being released this year do not advertise their main features. you have to remember that the game is about 3-4 months away so its a bit early to begin to advertise their main features. For instance, GTA: san andreas, which is being released in october/novermber, still has most of its new features kept secret. same goes with Halo 2, Metal Gear Solid 3 etc. Until Konami make an official statement, we have no idea what is going on

Aye fair play but why the big differences in the release date?
Because the game is originally made for Playstation 2. So they need to make ports for the others. That explains the differences in release data.

I'd be really disappointed if PES4 was online for XBOX. It would be a real kick in the teeth to PS2 owners. I don't think it will be online, I read a interview with someone from Konami in PSM2 and they said that online would come too soon for PES4 and that after seeing FIFA online flop that they were sure that it wasn't possible to bring the sort of online experience they wanted to PES4. I'm sure they've been working very hard to eventually get PES online for the PS2 and it would be a massive surprise if considering they have to port PES4 to the XBOX that they'll be able to put it online as well. Seems to far fetched.

Im just saying that konami wouldnt just tell one person over the fone, they are keeping it under wraps, im sure that in the next few weeks that they will come clean.

"Can you give Xbox or GameCube owners in Europe any hope that they may receive a version of PES soon?

Takatsuka: PS2 is our main console - this will not change. However, we are near the limit of the PS2 hardware itself. We are really looking forward to creating on a PC platform as there are other areas for us to explore; and with Xbox, we're really interested in Xbox Live because it's very appealing from a development point of view.

We'll let you in on a little secret... The team has not started on the Xbox version yet, however the team is very interested in Xbox Live in terms of the technology and the infrastructure Microsoft has, but that's about all we can say today, as our President is here [laughs]"

notice how he says that the team is very interested in Xbox Live. This interview was taken a couple of months before PES 3 and the Xbox version was announced so it seems XBL was an integral part in their decision to port the game to the box so i dont see why they wont experiment with this feature

That's right Mate. I am sceptical as well, even though I was the one to read it from the magazines. The only thing that keeps me hoping is the fact that Microsoft has confirmed the deal with Konami this month in regard to PES 4 being online. Konami apparently didn't want online feature for PES 4 on x-box, but since all the costs of LIVE will be covered by Microsoft themselves then there still is a chance...

My honest hopes are that the game itself will be ported well on other systems, i.e. PC and Xbox.

We shall wait and see anyway, don't beleive anyone.

Right, and how come you do not think it is a real kick in the teeth to other console owners that they DO NOT have PES/WE at all???
What is wrong with you???
Has Sony payed you to be so loyal to them??? What's the deal, I don't get it???

I don't understand that somebody like you and many other people here are so SELFISH, JEALOUS and for NO REASON loyal to PS2. Why is such an dissappointment that game will be on xbox (mybe online) and PC??? Why not expanding the game on other systems and show EA sports and FIFA, who's the king in the house. It is EXTREMELY important to have game on more systems, it will improve quality of soccer games, it will bring about more licences, more competition, and people will be more aware of PES instead of just buying bloody FIFA 2XXX.
Nobody will steal PES/WE from you, nobody is saying stop making PES/WE for PS2, they are just expanding it on other systems as well. There's REALLY nothing wrong with it...

And I am VERY happy this expansion is happening, and you should as well. More people deserve to play this game, not just PS2 owners.
And with the potential of other game systems, there's bright future for Konami and PES/WE to be online VERY SOON.

P.S. It is SONY to blame for no online feature for PES4, not Konami. It is truly the worst system for online playing I ever got chance of playing, since they have VERY BAD servers. Even Sega Dreamcast was better IMO...

Cheers.

Nice. Now i can sleep knowing there's a definite chance of online.

I think Konami is afraid of loosing players to Xbox since that will harm their relationssip with Sony, thats why they are not revealing anything before the PS2 relase. And I also dont think Konami would tell a normal person over the phone about online play or not. Online play is a big thing for MS and Im pretty sure they have talked to Konami about it. Dont expect Konami to reveal anything before the PS2 relase.

I have only ever played Tony Hawks Underground online and I found it to be very enjoyable, but a lot of people are saying that the Sony servers are shit. In what way? How are the servers on X-Box better? Why can't Sony (also a huge multinational company) not match Microsofts servers? I am genuinely interested.

Pleaser, this may not be the total reason, but I dont think Sony are really interested in the online market. They have more or less accepted XBOX are more knowledgeable in that field and tend to stick to more innotive ideas such as EyeToy and Singstar. Many online games IMO tend to run quite well on PS2, but people want it to be geat, and I dont think Sony's ready to be great at online yet.
Milosh, just my view here, but I dont think theres anything wrong with being loyal to a console at all. The amount of supporters of a console are the things which give us better games and prices. E.g if everyone had a XBOX, PS2 and Gamecube theyred be no need for Sony to slash the price of ps2 if everyone would get it anyway. IMO, being loyal to a console is the same as being loyal to your football club. Yes some people like all consoles, but others prefer a certain one. Go ahead Ray, support Sony!
DARN! I done another long speech........
