Here's just an idea of what I would love:
What if Konami made a game like this: PES "Community Edition", a game completely in blank, where they give us a bunch of fake teams and leagues (like 25-30 leagues or so?) and then we make whatever we want with those leagues, choosing how many teams we want in them and what country are they from.
Also, you could also attach more leagues to it to make 2nd and even 3rd or 4th divisions, and choose how many teams are promoted/relegated or what teams play in cup. This way, if you just want to create the teams of your country up to the regional amateur league and play a Master League with that, you'd be able to do it.
You could then play with those teams in Exhibition matches, Cup/League mode, Master League and Become a Legend. You could also "deactivate" leagues in ML/BAL so they wouldn't be there if you don't want to edit every single league.
Also, the international competitions for the clubs (Champions League, Libertadores, Club World Cup etc.) would be generic, and you could edit the rules, example: choose how many teams from each league could qualify for it
You could also create national teams from scratch if there were at least a certain number of players of that nationality in game (for example, if there were at least 30 players of Portugal in your game, you could create Portugal national team). Competitions for national teams could be customized as well, in the same way as Champions League, Libertadores, etc.
Some new features of this edit mode could be:
- A file to import/export a single player. We have .ted (team export data?) and .ced (competition export data), so, a player edit data? (.ped file?)
- A menu on "advanced options" when you import teams where you could see what players would be replaced and, if there are any conflicts like those when you override the same slot for a team, sort out those conflicts easily, perhaps by changing the players that are going to be replaced.
- Options to add balls, boots, scoreboards, adboards, perhaps some chants (or at least some chant styles, like on PS2) etc. You'll need those since your game is generic and you need to add that content to it.
- Option to import player faces like on PC?
- A "Community" section on edit mode, where you could see team exports made by other people and import them directly to your game, and also share your exports (not only teams, but also competitions, player faces, etc. Note that you could still import/export those things with a USB flash drive, like you do nowadays)
This game main focus would be on offline modes, but you'd still have the option to play online friendly matches, or perhaps tournaments, where you could set up rules, so you don't end up playing against tons of players with 99+ overall.
Obviously, this game, without licensed stuff and players, would cost less than the main PES game. It would be released on PS4, PC (even though on PC it's already possible to do some of the things I listed on here, not all of them though) and Xbox One only if Microsoft allow the use of Option Files.
Some might say "I can't even imagine the amount of editing needed in there! Hundreds of hours editing? No one will want that!" But I don't agree with that, if you do all alone it might take a long time, but PES has a great community, lots of people from their countries create their leagues in PES, for example, on PES 2018, I've seen team exports for leagues Bundesliga (Germany), Liga MX (Mexico), MLS (USA), J. League (Japan), Chinese Super League (China), A-League (Australia), Ireland League, Austria League, Danish league, etc. If you could put all of those togheter it would be awesome, so, think about the possibilities of a game like this
I know this is impossible, since there wouldn't be microtransactions and MyClub, so not much money for Konami's pockets (money is ruining our games, we got to admit it), and I don't even know if it is technically possible to make it easy enough for players to edit like that, but if there existed something like this,
would you buy it?
I would
