New Diving feature in PES 2008

I think it's a great idea for multi player games, but thinking about it, it adds to the realism even more.

Imagine going 89 minutes battering the oppo but still 0-0, then they take a tumble in the last minute and win and score the penalty...you cant tell me that sort of thing doesn't happen in real life.

I say great addition and i can't wait to cheat my brother out of several games...

As if the PES series never induced the old art of flinging gamepads through windows enough....

UNLESS THIS STUPID F-ING LAME ADDITION CAN BE TURNED OFF......FOREVER......It could end up up wrecking the game.....

The dive button would end up just getting spammed at moments of frustration resulting in lots of stoppages and bookings and the thought of losing a stoppage time goal to a penalty from a dive sends shudders through my whole body....(and no doubt, Konami in their infinite wisdom of what the fans (DONT) want will ensure that the AI of PES 2008 bends the game so that 'dramatic' last gasp pens from dives are allowed to occur rather frequently)

Hopefully, it'll be something that doesn't work 99 times out of 100, so the people who try to use it too much will get sick. I can imagine it being quite fun to execute in the last minute of a tense cup final against a mate however.

I can see myself using this alot in the beginning to see how it is programmed and what the criteria are for getting busted and getting away with it.

But I can see myself using it in desperate times.

I think I will use it, as annoying as it will be to get swindled out of a game by one, the satisfaction of inflicting the same sort of irritation to someone else warrants its use it my book.

Yep i think thats its a good addition too, it happens in real life football so why not?.

Though hopefully it wont be too easy to get penalties and free kicks...

Well, reports say that atleast 90% of dives result in a card. And to avoid exploitation of this (for example, someone finding a way to make it work every time), they probably have hardcoded that only a certain % of dives will be successfull wherever you do them (atleast that would be a good system to ensure noone can abuse it).

i dont agree that that would be a good system in the slightest,perhaps a luck factor or referee stats and linesman stats so that if you do dive certain refs are more likley to see it.its easy to make a dive convincing and if theres contact theres not many refs who dont blow there whistle,so if the ref is miles away,theres a bit of contact,he goes down,from the refs view its a pen but the hardcoding says NO.sounds poor,some minor ref stats,judgment,vision and the angle they see should influence,not every 1/20 or something........

i think it will be good as long as there doesnt become a way to make it work everytime you do it. if that happened it wil be so annoying almost as annoying as the people who just pass across your goal to score when online

also maybe if a player did it and got booked they should become a target for the other team for harder tackle and more protests in to what they do during the game, maybe not getting as many decions for other things from the ref

plus never mind diving i wish they would just give free kicks and pens when the computer hacks you down and the ref plays on

Is it just a rumour that this diving thing only will be available for ps3/xbox 360, and not for the ps2-version?

I am not sure how many features will be in the PS2 version.

But I don't see any difficulties in translating the Dive-feature to the PS2 version, so I would guess it is in there aswell.

I'm just rehashing what everyone else has already said but I'm still in two minds about this new feature...

On one hand anything that increases the realism of a game, to me is a good thing, thats what PES is known for. On the other hand, diving is something that in my opinion, should be actively discouraged in the game (real or virtual).

The developers said that they will field the public reaction to the new feature once implemented and then decide if they are to include it in the next pes (2009). So maybe they have been in two minds whether to include it or not aswell

The only thing I'm worried about is the potential for abuse. Will people be able to figure out times when diving is the right thing to do? Or will it always incur a huge risk?

Hopefully it won't be a situation where a good player at the game can wander into the penalty box, 'do the thing', hit the dive button, and reap the rewards of his penalty kick...

I think this addition is absolutely brilliant from Konami, I was wishing for it a long time ago. There's not a single football weekend in the world where players don't dive to get cards, attacks that noone is there except this one guy trying to win a fault. I just hope it's not 99% of the times a yellow card and that you can sometimes manage to cheat, football is as it is. I wouldn't care for an on/off feature but since you guys don't really like it, would be good for you.

I'm kinda looking forward to this Diving Feature and Shirt Pulling. But the Diving Feature doesn't look like an bright idea at all.
Overall it should something interesting.

not to sure about the diving feature, i know i personally wont be using it but it could add another interesting aspect to the gameplay and some heated arguments over pissed pro sessions.
