Online: Where are the decent human beings?

Ok, I'll start by saying that I am very much enjoying online this year. Played about 16 games (which is about 4x as many as I played throughout the whole of PES 2010's reign), this are the teams that my opponents have chosen:

Real Madrid (x4)
AC Milan (x4)
Inter (x2)
Barca (x2)
Arsenal (x2)
Man Utd
Brazil


More often than not, theyve gone straight to these teams without hesitation, whilst I'm naively hovering over Bolton in an attempt to persuade them to pick a similar team. I often ask them to pick a similar team, to which the common response is either a simple "no", or a "**** off!". A lot of these people are, for example, French.. and claim their favourite team is R. Madrid and their fav. player is Ronaldo. Rubbish! Obviously, this forces me to pick bigger teams than Bolton, though I did try to play Bolton vs Madrid in the first match, only just losing 1-0 thanks to my poor finishing!
Recently Ive been noticing that a lot of folk are moving their attacking players to very advanced positions too. I think they must all be Fifa players, since us PES fans are supposed to be the "proper" football fans aren't we???
So I ask, if anyone wants a proper match, a good Bolton vs Stoke or, I dunno... Udinese vs Napoli... whatever, let me know. I will note that my connection isnt that great, but its manageable. I not on PES all the time either, since I do play other games.

Know exactly what you mean. These guys are just completely clueless. I've changed my settings so I only play people from UK/English language. Even still I constantly have to play against morons who jump straight to Barca/Real/Inter. It's so pathetic.

Played a guy from Canada last night. Fav Team: Real Madrid, Fav Player: Ronaldo. Who does he go? Barca!! Sent him a message saying how pathetic it was to get the reply: "so!". Sadly that it what we are up against.

Even if you beat them with a smaller team eg Dinamo Kiev v Barca all you will get afterwards it messages of abuse saying how you cheated or are shit anyway :|

Ironically, not long after I posted this, i managed to get someone to switch to a lower team by asking nicely. He went straight to Inter. In another ironic twist, he was a fan of your rival, Cg1206.
However straight after that the next guy went straight to Madrid, he was French and just passed to Ronaldo all the time.... VERY predictable. He had a decent record, but he was rubbish! Beat him 4-1 with Marseilles.

Remember, online gaming is serious business, guys. People want to win, and a lot of them will do whatever it takes to do so.

It's sad, but it's the way it is.

I know to a lot of folk, ranking is important. But theres no harm in varying your team around a bit. To those who just play as one (big) team, I ask.. does it not get boring?

Well said (and good to see a fellow Wanderer!). I hate it when people say these sorts of things. I (and many others no doubt) would like to play against different teams. Theres no harm in that is there? Doesn't warrant being called a "looser". There needs to be a system put in place that allows this. For example, when I played Fifa 10 (not played 11), i never used to play against folk who used the 5* teams, and never used them myself. In that game you could back out of the team select lobby without gaining a loss. This should be put into PES. Also the time limit on chosing teams should be increased or scrapped.

I spent my money on this game so I should be allowed to play it the way I want to play it. If people want to play as Barca every game, and use stupid formations, that's fine. But let them play against similar minded players.

Some will say that I'm being a bit pathetic, I should stop moaning and get on with it, but so what?! I have my right to moan. I'm not complaining about the game, my favourite PES in years.

my fave teams on pes online are liverpool,lyon,ghana,south korea and belgium.. i cant stand people going the strongest teams but they can't stand me beating them especially with korea, played someone last night online , he was the argies i was ghana and i beat him 2-0 haha

Here is a shortlist of matured solutions against big teams monopoly online.

They were originally suggested in my poll here. Click on the description to see further details of the solution.

1 - Levelling all player stats for ranked matches. (credit to steviegags and willmo)

2 - The stronger your team is, in relation to the opposition team, the less ranking points you receive. (credit to douglas93)

3 - Free market system.

4 - A happy hour system.

5 - Option to limit teams to those only as strong as the host's, or less.

6 - Rating teams as 1 star to 5 stars, and creating rooms to restrict to X-star teams.

7 - The only way to exceed a rating of 600 (or any number Konami sees fit) is by choosing non-top tier teams (credit to Decryptus)

I'm playing on the pc and by far the most used team and abused team is Inter Milan . Surprisingly ,compared to last year i'm not facing Real or Barca as much, and is it the same on consoles hardy anyone seems to be picking international team .
My go too team when i'm playing someone higher ranked than me and hes using a top team ,is Roma and for international teams it's Ivory Coast but otherwise i just pick random teams .


I'm amazed how well i'm doing online this year compared to previous
pro evo's,considering i was crap playing against the A.I ,i think i just get bored playing against a computer but when you playing multiplayer or online victory is so sweet
My record up to now is 29/8/2
First game i played online my f^$$ing game crashes realmad::realmad::realmad in the 90th minute when i was 3 nil up against someone with 700+ points:realmad:
so technically i've only lost 1 match:ninja:

Hey, I also play on PC and I also in Manchester. Mine is laggy as hell though (I even posted a thread here in "Online" directory) and I keep loosing against Real Madrid - 70% of my matches are against it, with the remaining 30% being usually against AC... With Lags I find that I cant play "smart" - the delay means I cant control first touch/ one touch passing, cant jink, direction of passes is almost random... And I'm always conceding from crosses - Ronaldo sprint-whores down the wing, does a couple of 180 turns, crosses, and Higuain heads it in while I furiously tap on L1 trying to select the right defender grrrrrrrrrrr.

Your rating actually gives me hope that its all down to my crappy router problem...

At some stage Konami might think twice about going to all that trouble of introducing so many teams for online mode?
In my experience 9/10 onliners always go for the bigger teams simply to win, rather than to enjoy the game. 95% of all the teams available to onliners, we will never see?

And the points system is pure crap.

I played 1 match as Chile against another guy who was England and I had 430 pts and he had 580 pts. I beat him 1-0 and was left with a pair of sore fingers and a sweaty brow. The points I got were simply not worth it...................

Yes , it sounds like a problem on your end.
The only type of lag i've experienced is the game slowing down at times
but doesn't really effect either player.

Who is your provider , out of interest? I am on O2 ADSL2+, which is very good actually apart from this PES issue.

BT total broadband
. My connection is pretty bad because im connected to my router through home plugs because i haven't got a phone line where my pc is . They significantly reduce speed aswell!
