Best club football competition in the world to feature in PES 2009 as Konami secures exclusive UEFA Champions League licence

Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd has announced that its PES 2009 title will feature the UEFA Champions League following the conclusion of an exclusive 4 year licence with UEFA. The newest addition to the Pro Evolution Soccer series will be released for PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD on 16th October, followed by a version for Wii in 2009.

The UEFA Champions League deal will allow Konami to use all elements and attributes of the competition to create an exclusive UEFA Champions League mode within the PES game. The licence confirms Konami’s commitment to extending the series’ reputation as the definitive and most realistic football series available.

“The Pro Evolution Soccer series is synonymous with football being played at the highest level, which makes it perfect for hosting the best club football competition in the world”, commented UEFA. “We are delighted that PES 2009 will feature the UEFA Champions League and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Konami.”

“This deal showcases our commitment to taking PES 2009 forward in terms of licences and realism,” commented Kunio Neo, President for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “The UEFA Champions League is the jewel in the club competition crown, and is just one of many innovations we have lined up for the new game.

All this has got me slightly more excited.

i don't see no Arsenal? or Chelsea for that matter.

They may very well not be licensed.
I've heard Atlético Madrid aren't licensed and they're also in teh Champions league so there's a big possibility neither are Chelsea or Arsenal.

It would make sense especially if they're not showing any picture of them.

That vid was so unrealistic. Complete bollocks. You can tell because Torres and Keane actually linked up.

Just noted something....

If you stop the video on the 1 minute mark at the part when the team in the red and white stripes is celebrating, you can make out the name "Romaldinho" on the back of one of the players shirts.....

Now, as I recall, Romaldinho is on WE team or PES team which by logic means that any club team within the game should be able to enter the tournament.....

Which then asks the question (a) are all the teams in the champions league liscenced, (b) or did Konami pay for the tournament name, adboards etc, without necessarily including the teams in the package?

This has now become CSI Pro Evo

Waiting....
So, a licensed Champions League doesn't mean all the teams involved will be licensed? I thought they could at least restrict certain teams to be fully licensed only for the Champions League, but when playing for them outside of the competition, they could be unlicensed. Also, I'm guessing we can finally get the chance to play for BATE and Anorthosis?

If its true that Pes Utd or w/e is the team winning the CL then that means you can be any team in it and it should be linked to the ML. Thats why they dont have CL badges on their kits because you use the same teams etc as you do in the ML. Chelsea and Arsenal arnt licensed so means that these teams and possibly the mode arnt restricted to the single mode.
