My early impressions:

PC gamer here - so FIFA isn't really an option for me. FIFA on PC seems to be so far behind its console versions, it's quite bewildering.

As for PES 2010, it IS an improvement over 2009, but not enough in my opinion. The graphics are quite impressive, even though I'm not big on that aspect of the game. Probably the biggest improvement I've personally noticed is that the tactical setting for Attacking Player Support actually works. There is a discernible difference to be found when you turn it high - you do have an extra player or 2 running up to support your controlled player. That was my biggest gripe with 2009. Overall, the game does tend to grow on you slowly, as others have said on here.

The biggest negative is that, at times, passing is utterly bizarre. I don't mind if long range, complicated passes are totally messed up, but simple 5-10 yard on-the-ground passes are badly misplaced. And sometimes, if they're not misplaced, they're not received properly. The first touch is quite annoying.

Also there is fair amount of players just looking at the ball and not moving, even though it's about a foot away from them. And even if I try to get control of that player (by pressing the player select button) it doesn't seem to want to select that player who appears to be the closest to the ball.

Summary: I cannot deny that 2010 is an improvement, but they definitely could and should have done a lot more with the gameplay. Nothing fancy, just should have gotten rid of those annoying bugs.

Good news: it seems to be better than FIFA.
Bad news (for me): I can't play the demo with my specs .

I cannot believe that a 2009 soccer game still has players going thru each others. The worst is that the CPU uses that flaw to dribble.

Well said. This was so annoying in pes09 and it will now continue for an other year at least :(

^It happens lesss, much less on the ps3 version. Or maybe I didn't notice it that much.
Just played both fifa demo and then pes demo.
BOTH are good and bad in some ways.
At the moment fifa demo feels more complete (because of pes' bad response which is suppose to be fixed).
In my opinion, if pes can fix responsivness and some misplaced AI positioning then we will have 2 great football games.
Note: I mentioned the bad things in fifa demo already and this thread is based on PES demo mostly. ;)

Like Shaun says if they fix the response it'd be great
but if they slow the game speed down and make goalkeepers harder to beat and the general difficulty levels harder this game will be great!

After playing the demo for 2 days, only one conclusion is possible: This is a BETA!

So many unpolished details!!!

The horrible GKs, the so many not whistled fouls, the S - L - O - W reaction times, the defenders speed limit bug (Puyol can't go around Toni), passing also seems to be way less precise....

I could go on four hours!!!

I really hope the final version has corrected ALL of this issues...

Dont think theres much point in starting a new thread for this so... why is the demo only 5 minutes? why not 10-15, its not really enough time to pass the ball about and try break teams down, i feel rushed trying to score...?

After playing nearly 10 hours of PES 2010, I only have one thing to say: WTF!!!:brickwall:

Granted it has improved from 08 and 09, but Konami why are you playing with my emotions like this:crymore:. I almost started crying after playing a few games. Played a few more to see if I was in some sort of horrible nightmare, but the game didn't get any better.

I'm really hoping that there are a lot more improvements to come, but I highly, highly doubt it.

I bought PES 2008 and because of that game, I didn't buy 09. Consequently, because of the demo, I'm sure as hell not gonna buy 2010 anymore. You're killing me Konami and there's only one thing that I hate about every single PES games thus far. I'll sum up my issues.

The Goods (Need I say anything):
-graphics and appearance
-cut scene animations
-menu
-music is not even bad
-everything is flawless as I would expect
-except for one thing:

The Bad: GAMEPLAY, GAMEPLAY, GAMEPLAY!!!!!!:realmad:

Yes, 360 degree dribbling is in, but are you yanking my chain. The game still plays horrible:realmad:.
-I can still just run right through the defense, there’s no defensive urgency!!! I didn’t even get a single free kick near the box or even in the box:realmad:.
-Neither is there any attacking urgency. I ran towards the touchline and instead of trying to keep the ball in, the player just let the ball roll out of play:realmad:.
-I passed the ball back to my keeper and it slowly rolled into the net:realmad:.
-And what’s up with the dribbling! You make a sharp right and it looks like it takes the player an eternity to make the turn:realmad:.
-Shooting is the same. Trying winding one up from outside the box and you’ll see what I mean:realmad:.

I STRONGLY, STRONGLY suggest that Konami use the FIFA’s shooting system, or revert back to Winning Eleven’s style of shooting. There needs to be a power/height bar when crossing shooting and passing (and I don’t mean the manual R3 stick).

For those of you who disagree with me, you can condemn me all you like, but I’m just calling it as I see it. Konami is throwing away a perfectly good game. It has everything, EVERYTHING a good soccer game needs except the one factor that makes a soccer game a soccer game; the gameplay. It won’t be long until FIFA starts to become the best football game in gameplay as well as editing, graphics, and downloads (They sure as hell are on their way). I want to play this game SOOOO bad, but the gameplay is that poor. Imitate FIFA09’s gameplay for all I care. Or use Winning Eleven 9’s gameplay. I’ll definitely be happy with either, but I’m begging you for all that is Pro Evo, thrash this next gen idea that you seem to call ‘gameplay’:faceplm:.

I do agree with some of these things. But in my demo there is indeed a shooting/passing bar :)
