Dude, IGN and Gamespot are both straight in the back pockets of EA and have been for some time. Reviews mean nothing- even infamously crappy games like FIFA 2003 got great reviews.

Did you play the FIFA 10 demo?

Yes, it was fun, and if I was a few years younger and understood football less clearly I'd probably have preferred it over PES... but it resembles football only in that the players run around on grass and kick a ball. It's like playing ice hockey, and I've played a lot of ice hockey, both in real life and in video games. Not to mention, as always, play progresses in the same patterns, no matter what tactics you or your opponent employs or where your players are positioned, etc. You're still forced into moving up the pitch in the same ways, scoring goals in a few set ways, etc. Your computer opponent is the same way, and this is what makes FIFA so BORING so quickly. Hell, I've had the demo for a few days and I'm already tired of it.

FIFA's a fun game to mess about with when friends are over, no doubt, but it's an arcade game, not a football sim. There's no variety in play and it feels nothing like real football- as usual.

Not to mention, the graphics are absolutely terrible. It's like the HD version of FIFA '99 on 360. As soon as I played my first match on the demo I was reminded exactly why I left the series. The funny thing is that on forums I've visited the FIFA demo has got a universally negative response and the apologists and fanboys are now claiming this is only a 75% build. lol.

I went into the demo with an open mind and actually hoping I'd like it so I could buy it and play online with my friends (who, yes, are all EA Sports lemmings) but in my opinion FIFA '98 has more realistic gameplay than this. At least '98 feels like playing football. To me FIFA 10 is simply unplayable.

Now, as for my issues with the PES demo:

What is with the slow button response? This NEEDS to get sorted. When I play PES I rely on quick passing and in the demo it's hard to pull off because of the slow response.

I like the smoothness of the demo and the improved shooting, but while the animations are improved, they're still quite lacking, and goalkeeper animations haven't changed since PES 6. Back then they blew FIFA's out of the water, but now they're very outdated.

Aside from that, I quite like the game. The graphics are stunning, passing (minus the huge button lag) is hugely improved, players don't make these spasmatic hyper fast turns. Basically an improvement from '09, as promised, and I'm sure the full game will be even better.

the response isnt an issue anymore playe the WE a million times better. I'm not one to jump the gun but when the final product comes out its gonna be a great game...

There's a difference between winning eleven demo and PES demo?! I'll see if it's available in Canada and if so download it (up here it's sold as Pro Evolution Soccer).

Im gutted as i dont think ill be buying pes this year. Operation flashpoint and COD will easility clear out my spending money and i have nothing to sell so ill be sitting on the sidelines absolutely dying to play it. I dont stop thinking how how i could pay for it but the only way is to basically go a month without any money for food etc and that aint gonna happen. Cant bloody believe it. 3 years waiting for this day where we have an amazing pes and i cant afford it.

I dont know whether to laugh or cry.

What sort of threat is that? I think I can move on with my life if you ignore me champ.

I'm commenting on the premise that a game released on a specific platform requires the platform be adjusted to cater to the game rather than the other way around.

Does that no sound daft to you?

No, no. I already said that Konami did VERY WRONG with pes demo. The WE demo for instance, is much better. Get that and then comment. Seriously. ;)

Ermm, but didnt IGN SPONSOR PES?

I think it was PES2008????

.....................

Another member here also said IGN gave PES 2008 a 9.2 on PS3?

That doesnt seem like they are in fifa's pockets to me.

LOL.

Here an excerpt from Eurogamer's review. Their opinion of course

"In 1986, my beloved Liverpool were rampant: already 16-times First Division champions, FA Cup holders, four-time European Cup winners, with Ian Rush leading the line and Kenny Dalglish in a manager's seat embossed by our first ever double the previous season. The subsequent decline throughout the nineties was largely self-inflicted, but it didn't help that a sweary Scotsman had arrived at Old Trafford, and started making good on his promise to "knock Liverpool off their f***ing perch".

Pro Evolution Soccer finds itself in the Liverpool role these days. Demoted to second-best in 2008 after a few years of increasing stagnation, Konami will not enjoy FIFA 10. Conflicting embargoes mean that we can't put the two latest instalments head to head until our PES 2010 review on 15th October, but unless something dramatic has happened since last month, the gap is ever more significant. If last year saw FIFA knocking PES off its perch, this year it's chasing it around the birdcage with a plank of wood and a sledgehammer."

My god you are a mindless troll. You keep posting the same thing over and over again. Are you not BwA spectre from Evo web because he does exactly the same thing. I swear EA pays guys like you to infiltrate the PES boards and do exactly what you are doing.

Sure you enjoy FIFA 10 so leave it at that and stop trying to impose your ideologies on others.

At that time it was Konami but now who knows it could very well be EA. You just never know with IGN which is why I say no one should take any of their reviews seriously. I used to love them around 10 years ago, when they gave very in depth 5 page reviews. Then over the years they shorten them to 2 page shite that dare not mention a single bad thing in a mediocre game (pes 2008).

Listen to some of you on here.

Pathetic.

Ive never known such a whiney, snivelling bunch desperate for a game to be good.

You impressed with Pes10? Fine. I dont see it.

But to say EA has PAID Eurogamer and IGN to write good views is bloody childish. If anything the WENB podcast i listened too yesterday was more of a lie than anything i've ever heard. Listening to it you'd think Konami had created the second coming of football games which frankly isnt the case.

Fanboys man, theres no one more stupid, childish and ignorant than them thats for sure.

*shakes head*

Actually your dead wrong. They've been pretty spot on as have Eurogamer over the years, especially when considering your purchases.

I think you do them a disservice.

What happens if they give Pes10 9/10? Will they be lying?

I just took a shot on goal that skimmed past the post and hit the ad boards behind the goal. The keeper picked the ball up as it bounced back into the pitch. I enjoyed that very much.

Also in corner kicks, they save powerful close range headers that go straight down the middle and high, which seldom happened in previous versions.

I can only imagine what a keeper with super reflexes will be able to do in this version.

Definitely an improvement.

In fact, this is probably the most exciting PES version i've ever played.

Every Barca player looks and almost moves like the real counterpart.

As for the people in the previous page that are bringing reviews into this, i wouldn't take them too seriously, if i were you. There's a lot of money involved in gaming, specially in these two games. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these cunts have been payed off by the companies or third parties linked to them. Seriously. It happens all the time.

Usul long time no see. We haven't had that PES feeling in a while....exciting times.

Yeah they were so spot on when they gave Pes 2008 a 9.2 . They didn't mention the horrible offline lag or endless other problems but what do you know there are tons of IGN adboards in the game. Any respectable site scored that game no higher than a 6.5. There were countless other shady reviews aside from that too. Funny how a "fanboy" would flame a game from his own camp. Idiot.

edit: Also you don't seem to know much about how EA operates. Here's a hint; they're no angels.

I must say that I'm very please with the demo, the game pace are much more slower now, graphic wise, it's absolutely amazing! Players likenesses blew FIFA out of the water.. the scores are also realistic in Top player mode, 1-0, 0-0, 2-1. Unlike Fifa where the scores went 4-4, 5-3, 7-1 (even on the hardest difficulty setting). I heard that Winning Eleven demo has been release on PS3? added 1 extra stadium, Brazil and 1 more difficulty level, is sad that I don't have a PS3 T_T, does any1 know how I can get W11 demo PC version? :D
