PES 2012 Review thread

Mods delete this if its no use but thought it would be good to have one thread with all the links to reviews for the final game, anybody that has played the final code could also post their impressions in here.

This is actually a good idea but I think its going to get over run with fanboys and pessimists at loggerheads with each other.

I think its difficult to review PES2012 early doors because given time to master it I suspect this could be the most rewarding version of PES we have had in a very long time. In that respect, we ought to review it with our initial thoughts and then come back for a second opinion a couple of months down the line. Review Revisited.

On another note the top player AI has firmly put me in my place, might have to drop back to professional due to two embarrassing 4-0 defeats to club america.

Using right stick to defend crosses is crucial in this game but hard to do, the good thing is we have plenty of tools at our disposal to deal with the opposition.

Top Player is unbelievably challenging and the big achievement on Master League on Top Player is going to be just avoiding being fired!

I drew 1-1 with rangers(me playing as inter) last night on top player and felt smug with myself which shows how shite I am at this moment in time.

I've yet to even score on Top Player. In terms of reviewing a PES game that would normally alienate me but it makes me appreciate the longevity this PES will provide me.

I wonder whether the criteria the low scoring reviewers judge a sports game on is 'instant accessibility'.

I've yet to even score on Top Player. In terms of reviewing a PES game that would normally alienate me but it makes me appreciate the longevity this PES will provide me.

I haven't even attempted to play on top player yet! I've managed a couple of wins and a draw on Professional against Spurs (me being Bayern Munich).

I just got hammered 3-1 by Inter on professional though! But the great thing was I didn't feel angry. I really enjoyed the challenge and felt like I could get back in the game if I'd managed to finish a couple of my chances

PS - talking of metacritic scores, I've just checked Fifa 12 and IGN have given it a 9.5 this year!!! I know IGN are famous for giving very generous scores but come on!!! I've played plenty of the demo and it did impress me but a 9.5??? It's an 8.5-9.0 at best. I actually found playing against the computer AI quite boring. I guess some people are still dazzled by official licences.

I would give FIFA a 5 and PES a 6 , but thats only based on the demos.

Another important tip for defending, simply tapping right trigger will perform a standing tackle, make sure youre close to the player and timing is crucial.
