Tech I agree with you but still it's too early to tell. At last pes won't focus on making defenders superhuman you .
Anyway let's all wait and see how it turns out because there is not other football game.

the first videos of 2011 looked promising, the reviews made me believe but in the end it was just bull*** so i am just focused on the things that seabass said will be fixed and that's the only thing for now which gives me hope so please do not make the situation worse ok.

Listen.....

in the video.

The Ai controlled defender

Runs away from the attacker

allowing him a clear run on goal

Whilst the two other defenders stand and let him in.

I think its fair to say, they ain't got the AI quite fixed just yet.
I don't think "runs away from the attacker" is the right way to describe that. He was marking the player making the run. The ballcarrier beat his marker and was unmarked in space on the edge of the area. The nearest defender attempted to close down that space and made a move to pressure the guy with the ball. There was defensive help behind him so it's not like he just cut the runner he had been marking free into space - That's the correct decision under the circumstances.

It proceeded to look bad because the ballcarrier happened to play his through ball at the exact moment the defender changed direction to try and prevent him dribbling into the box...

The CB got a much better jump on the pass but right before the video cuts back to Seabass you can see the SB's initial reaction. Perhaps the CB there has a much better response attribute than the SB? Perhaps it was indeed an AI glitch and the SB turns to face the corner flag and plays with himself while the striker nets an easy goal? We don't see enough to know for sure.

The optimist side of me is at least encouraged that the defense didn't just keep tracking back while the initial dribbler is given time and space to get closer to goal and take a shot or dish off a gimme assist. There was awareness of the threat and a reasonably aggressive attempt to counter it. If the offense wins that battle so be it, perfect timing on the through ball caught the defense in a switch. :erm: (and probably took advantage of a poorly rated defender ;))

Pes 11 has really bad bugs and stupid stuff, but it's the best pes since pes 6. It's clearly not as bad as you're making it. The core of pes is there, the execution is what makes pes 11 feel bad.

the core? are you kidding?
all the thing seabass mentioned in the video are missing in PES 2011.
you can only enjoy this game if you like flashy dribbling, overhead flics etc like he said breaking the defence down as a team wasn't really present, holding up play to make your teammates take in better positions wasn't really there, your players giving you options to pass or dribbling into space by making runs weren't really there and believe me i felt all that,if most of u didn't that's fine with me, but hearing him say it with his own mouth proves to me i wasn't going crazy.
i gave the game 2 months and i can say for me it was the worse PES experience i've had since i've known the game.
fixing these things will mean he brings the core back and then he will be able to go further but at this moment in time i standby the game is crap.
believe me its hard for me to admit but its just crap atleast if you really wanna play football and not just showboat or something else.
still strange that FIFA still manages to be worse.
my opinion ok i just have to add this cause yours could be different but it does help that Seabass himself also agrees.

I'm concerned at it being bandied around as a PES2011.5, that suggests it will retain annoyances like cursor glitching and button mashing feints to beat players.

lets hope not.
seabass said the attacking variety will be improved very much but the defensive options will also improve to keep it balanced.

PES 2011 had free passing and that was really the only thing that stood out if you asked me, but what was the use of this freedom if the players didn't make the runs to really use this option.
the new dribbling system sucked if you asked me especially because the options to counter it wasn't really there and this will also be fixed if seabass isn't pulling my leg.
the demo will help clear all the questions i have and i mean the demo which will be released to us, cause the game reviewers and magazines are just making their money by just helping the producers sell the game so you just can't trust none of them anymore.

You didn't understand my post. Pes at it's core, knows what football truly is. But fails at certain parts of it's execution. But at it's core, it plays like football, however, annoyances such as cursor switching, defence catching up, defence openings that seems bad, ANIMATIONS and stuff like that, make it's execution wrong.

However, it's just not true that it's the worst experience. The goal variation, teamwork (which is better than any pes from 6), passing, INDIVIDUALITY, Formations and tactics and overall shooting are a few examples of what's truly good in pes 11.

So in the end, I am not saying that it's the best ever or stuff like that, but it's surely not the worst. Remember pes 08, 09 and 10? How CAN 11 BE WORSE? IT CANNOT because at it's core, it knows what football is, unlike pes 08, 09 and 10.

For me it was the worse in the series. If u can't play as a team the individuality can not really be usefull can it? The players had the stats but the engine just wasn't there for them to play as themselves, to make runs, hold up play etc. The response time and cursor switching was never worse then in pes 2011 and to me that means the game isn't playable. The option file makers tried to fix these things by editing a lot but if it isn't in the game no stats editing will fix that. Pes2011 was simply some kind of fifa clone and that is why it enjoyed the popularity it did but play a good game of football it didn't. For me somethings just have to be present in a football game if you wanna play and enjoy the game like its meant to so if its fifa or pes doesn't matter if it isn't present I'm not on board.

The PS2 versions of PES made a lot more sense than the PS3 versions, and for very logical reasons as well. What Konami and EA Sports have done is very simplistic and stingy as far as I'm concerned. They have adapted the left analog stick...

Sorry Amateur. Stopped reading at that point as I felt I knew I could remember what was likely to be coming next

you can not judge this simply by watching a video.

Probably the most sensible thing said.

I'm concerned at it being bandied around as a PES2011.5, that suggests it will retain annoyances like cursor glitching and button mashing feints to beat players.

2012 will contain at least half the annoyances that have plagues the game from PES6 on and no doubt add at least three new features that will do nothing to hide these.

Yes, I sound like a FIFA rep at times, but it only comes from heartbreak. Since the final demise of my release day 60GB and it's backwards compatibility, I have mourned the loss of the last version of PES worth playing.

Mourn with me people. Save your fragile hopes from further hurt by...

WAITING FOR THE FUCKING DEMO AT LEAST!

Videos only show what they want you to see. It's far too early to start arguing about anything.

I was playing some ML earlier where the AI wasn't using the good ole scripting mechanic and what a fucking joy it was. So I hadn't conceded in six games on professional setting, but I wasn't having last-minute corners going in my net which you could set your watch by.

It's that fucking Teamvision shit that's killed the game. 2.0 wasn't much better. 3.0 better not exist.

I've missed your left analogue stick-related rants, Amateur :D

I can't imagine PES 2012 being vastly different to PES 2011, so you'd probably be saying the same things in 6 months time, if you even get the game that is.

The main thing I want in the next game is just more control, in general. I don't want a player to be running alongside the ball when I play a pass, I want him to move on to it when I want.

If I tell my attacker to place a shot.... I want him to fucking place it! Not blast it!

I want less back-heels, less bicycle kicks from 25 yards, less of those stupid annoying toe-poked outside of the foot shots, less shots dragged miles wide, when it was easier to score than miss.

I want more players in the box when there is a corner.

Less scripting (obvious really).

I want Konami to put more research into teams and players, giving fairer player attributes.

.... and much, much more.

I don't see myself buying the game, I bought PES11 thinking it would grow on me and it didn't happen. If PES12 plays like a version of PES5 or PES6 with more directions, or perhaps like a finished version of PES11, then it's definitely worth the buy.

Though I don't see that happening, I think that PES12 will feel unfinished, another case of improving some aspects of the game at expense of other areas.

EA Sports has been there for a few years, and FIFA has arguably gotten worst in the last two years. There is a reason for that.

Pes 11 has really bad bugs and stupid stuff, but it's the best pes since pes 6. It's clearly not as bad as you're making it. The core of pes is there, the execution is what makes pes 11 feel bad.

Perhaps the greatest example of bad execution is the link-feint dribbling system.

The movement/dribbling and passing animations still looks absolutely horrible.

The positive part is that it looks fluid.

Last version before a complete ground up rebuild I would hope... :erm:

It's unlikely Konami would allow an institutional cash-cow like PES fall by the wayside this far in. Would be like EA saying, "bollocks to it, lets give up £x million a week by not making another FIFA this year". Very unlikely indeedy.

Am I the only one who actually liked certain aspects of PES11's defense?

Outside of the cursor glitch and ai stupidity (one of the key factors in ground crosses being effective) I'm quite good at stealing the ball using a couple different tactics. I'll steal the ball most of the time, but sometimes the opponent breaks me down like in real life.

One of the biggest things they need to change is the unstoppable stumbling animation after you bump into someone. Absolutely ridiculous.

I'm OK with the stumbling, its that 2 second player daze that follows it that gets me. But I know what you are saying. I can't believed they released a game with that problem. Thought for sure they would fix it with a patch by now.

i actually take a lot of pride in my defense and putting up clean sheets and one of the best things is to use is pressing x and the direction button towards your goal in combination with jockeying and then actually timing the tackle with x and direction button away from your goal. ppl online dont seem to understand that at all. its like no one read any of the defensive button assignments.

i think pes could really use a nice tutorial in the game tho but i think the obsession with 'freedom' and letting players play however they want to might get in the way of that.

Yeah the x +direction defense is great, and then add the teammate pressure button (releasing the button when you want him to tackle) also works well. I always like faking like I'm going to personally pressure, then back off and have the ai sneak up and steal the ball.

and yeah when I mentioned stumbling, I meant the daze they go into.

I just wish next year we will see a return of the special drills and tutorials you used to do on the PS2 versions. I always enjoyed hitting the free kick targets and dribbling through a course.
