Containment is key to defending I found. So worry less about sticking your foot in and getting the ball back and just use A (360) to contain and control the game.

won't take long before an obvious opportunity to get the ball back arises or they give the ball away.


Maybe you defend this way already, may be not but it is little better than simply saying "Defending" :)

hello everyone, pes 2013 is my first pes ever. I enjoy it but I have some trouble with the defending on top player. I am really doing my best, am using A and B (xbox) but I just dont get the ball.

any tips?

While u defending u can pressure the opponent by a COM teammate by pressing X .. also if the opponent is close to ur defender u can press A two times to tuckle the opponent and the ball is yours .. these are the basics ..

Kicked the difficulty up today to Top Player and must say, I think I like it even more now.

The game seems o have a bit more pace about it, a little more flow and you have less time on the ball and space on the pitch.

Had a fantastic game against Bayern where I won In the 90th minute thanks to a scorching Ronaldo goal:D

Whack it up to Superstar level, scoring in the injury time at the end of the game is something else, you're really made to work for your opportunities.

Yeah, I don't think I am there yet. I will get there though. I like my footy matches fairly even and on Superstar I don't think that would be case.

sigh... 1 match I defend good and another match really bad. Also sometimes I get an undefendable goal I play so many matches but I am just bad in defending. Need to train more, its getting better!

After few years in wrong direction, i can say that this time PES is back on track. It`s not what i expected fully but compared to 2011 and 2012 it feels and it plays much much smoother and better. Since this is only demo i expect Konami to deliver proper game this year.

Conclusion:

This year i will buy pes 2013!

Playing this demo feels like a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders, it really is the best football game (so far, we know how demos can change in the final game) since pes6. If the game stays as good as it feels then things I have really hated in the past like no swap deals, no mix and match/3rd kits (it can be quite an issue for colour blind people), etc will become minor issues. All I am hoping for in gameplay from demo2 is better crossing and fix the chip shots. GK's are always tweaked after the demo, but please don't over do them, last year had the crappest keepers pulling off worldies.

I hope in the demo they offer us 10 (I suck at 5) minute matches and some new teams.

Lastly, stay the fuck away from passing! it is wonderful compared to last years abomination. I love the assisted manual passing, with the arrow.

Bottom line, I cant find anything in demo one that was better in pes 2012. Tone down - and by that I mean eliminate scripted games, and pes is back to perfection for me.

yeah 5 minute matches suck. So glad the PC version got hacked so quickly cause I only played like 4 games at 5 minutes and the other 100+ at the 10 minute setting :w00t

Yeah man, agreed. It's amazing what these patchers can do, and thanks God they exist! 10 min games on Top Player, with my new Juve team is pure ecstasy. Loving PES 13 so far and will preorder the game one of these days... see ya folks online.
