I agree that PES06 was the best in the series.

I tried pes6 on the 360, its better in some ways, but ultimatley the game speed is so damn fast it really got to me. Plus the customisation options are horrendous.

Im currently playing ''league'' mode on pes 11, cant be assed to touch master league.

Honestly Stu, get it out of the shed. You may have seen some of my posts, I have a PS3, have both FIFA11 (just to give it a go) and PES2011 (loved it for what it was, but can't play it now), I then went through a football obsessive month. I bought all the PES's on next gen, bought a Wii to try PES2011 on it, used daughters X-Box to try PES6 on that, then bought a Playstation 2 again to primarily play PES5. Then tried PES6, and was like, oh my god, I can't remember it being this good. Many will say PES5 was the greatest game, in my opinion PES6 is almost perfect.

My attitude to the names etc is that they will all change in five seasons anyway so why not roll with the players that you either don't know/never heard of, and put up with facing Henry at Arsenal etc.

The game I had was electric, I honestly haven't been put under the pump like that for a long time. I defended magnificently I must say, but Arsenal were relentless. It's no exaggeration but people like Walcott get the ball on this game, even back then, you'd better get your shit together and organise your defence properly, defend high at your peril. It was a proper game, a slow, sluggish pace which I controlled for the first twenty minutes, played some of my best football when it counter following two previous nil nils, and at my pace. Then you could sense an Arsenal growing threat with every minute. The second half was just backs to the wall.

In PES2011 I never get beaten on possession, it's usually something ridiculous like 63-37 to me, but Arsenal had 57% of the possession against me yesterday, the most I've surrendered in a long while!

Just to add, that the AI in this game is supremely fair - the scripting in PES2011 makes it practically impossible to defend properly for long periods because of the over-powered through ball from the CPU that goes through players. With all the Arsenal pressure against me yesterday, I still felt in control of my defence if you know what I mean, the goal they scored was a stunning bit of link up play that I momentarily fell asleep on and let Henry have a split second too much time to create his half a yard for the shot.

The CPU was rampant, had me penned in, but was ultimately fair.

On PES6 I have a whole new respect for the oppositions attackers, in PES2011 it didn't frighten me if they had Ronaldo, Ribbery, Messi and Rooney all playing.

Must say, I am now very intrigued to have a look.

Like you say, the names constantly change and with transfers. As long as I change the English teams from - West Midlands Village etc... - it won't matter too much.

Will dig it out later this afternoon, after doing my man 'duties' - cleaning the car, entertainting the kids etc...

Will play a few games, see what the crack is and if I get into it again I will re-create my team I had - Dynamo Allstars. I made this team on every Pro Evo from 04-09 and made all the players. Must say, those were the days and that game got played into oblivion. I even had a folder, which I still have somewhere, with seasons of results and goalscorers. My Brazilian forward - FRANKIE POWLOS - scored 457 golas in about 500 games.

Might just plug the gap until PES12 comes out, hopefully with better results.

Konami... your code is... how to put this politely... a fucking abortion. Presenting the hip new defensive tactic: Cluster outside your own box and sprint towards the corner flag opposite the direction of the attack!

The only thing that kept me from jumping off the couch, ejecting the disc and frisbee'ing it 4 streets over was that I'd put us up 3-0 with a hat-trick in the first 30 minutes and I wanted my stats. From there, they proceeded to tie the game on that pathetic sequence and 2 PKs given after my back line was frozen in place and decided to wildly slide tackle once them scoring a goal was imminent. Then in the second half the manager switched our gameplan to all-out attack and we conceded 2 more on counter-attacks as my back line futilely launched long ball after long ball into their eagerly awaiting midfield.

I'm now resolved this will be the last $60 Konami ever gets from me. Maybe in some dream world I'll rent 2012 for a week and find that Konami's miraculously pulled their heads out of their asses. But I'm not holding my breath.

And in my next game I scored 2 in the first half, and after exhausting all my stamina cleaning up my teammates' defensive messes they notch 2 in the final 8' and get a draw out of it. I truly don't understand this. The computer manages to play keep away just fine when they're sitting on a lead, and yet all my defenders pussyfoot around with the ball and ignore open passing options until they turn it over and give up a counter-attacking goal.

I guess I must've tripped the "this guy is shredding our game on Top Player, time to fuck with his world" AI trigger.

And with that I'm resolved to put this game in a dark drawer for a while and try to figure out why I suck so bad at NHL 11. 15 minutes after the fact and my hands are still trembling with white-hot rage and PES 2011 isn't worth my aggravation at this time.
