Honestly Stu, get it out of the shed. You may have seen some of my posts, I have a PS3, have both FIFA11 (just to give it a go) and PES2011 (loved it for what it was, but can't play it now), I then went through a football obsessive month. I bought all the PES's on next gen, bought a Wii to try PES2011 on it, used daughters X-Box to try PES6 on that, then bought a Playstation 2 again to primarily play PES5. Then tried PES6, and was like, oh my god, I can't remember it being this good. Many will say PES5 was the greatest game, in my opinion PES6 is almost perfect.
My attitude to the names etc is that they will all change in five seasons anyway so why not roll with the players that you either don't know/never heard of, and put up with facing Henry at Arsenal etc.
The game I had was electric, I honestly haven't been put under the pump like that for a long time. I defended magnificently I must say, but Arsenal were relentless. It's no exaggeration but people like Walcott get the ball on this game, even back then, you'd better get your shit together and organise your defence properly, defend high at your peril. It was a proper game, a slow, sluggish pace which I controlled for the first twenty minutes, played some of my best football when it counter following two previous nil nils, and at my pace. Then you could sense an Arsenal growing threat with every minute. The second half was just backs to the wall.
In PES2011 I never get beaten on possession, it's usually something ridiculous like 63-37 to me, but Arsenal had 57% of the possession against me yesterday, the most I've surrendered in a long while!
Just to add, that the AI in this game is supremely fair - the scripting in PES2011 makes it practically impossible to defend properly for long periods because of the over-powered through ball from the CPU that goes through players. With all the Arsenal pressure against me yesterday, I still felt in control of my defence if you know what I mean, the goal they scored was a stunning bit of link up play that I momentarily fell asleep on and let Henry have a split second too much time to create his half a yard for the shot.
The CPU was rampant, had me penned in, but was ultimately fair.
On PES6 I have a whole new respect for the oppositions attackers, in PES2011 it didn't frighten me if they had Ronaldo, Ribbery, Messi and Rooney all playing.
