If this lasts any longer than 24 hours then I think sony should at least give us a free mini or classic download, or something to that extent

Yeah, doubt they will give us any sort of 'compensation' though, seeing as there's no monthly subscription fee for online play.

HOWEVER, we have bought the console and all the games to go with it, so, you're right, it would be nice if they chucked a few quid in everyone's PS Store wallet, would certainly keep everyone happy. :w00t

They gotta get this sorted asap though, otherwise sales may well go down as a result. Shame really, as PS3 has overtaken 360 recently, for consoles sold.

Consider how much that would cost them worldwide though. They'd only do it if they secretly knew they'd be charging all of us a nice fat monthly fee soon. In fact, they wouldn't even do it then :<

Yes, very true. Infact, I think I'll take that comment back now. I want online play to remain free...forever.

If it was only a psn issue, then i wouldn't give a crap, but right now i've got an overpriced blu ray player sitting under my tv. No access to ps1 classics, no access to psn tites, none of my games, barring MGS4 work......

If the system thinks this is a leap year, it will correct itself at midnight and that'll be the end of it so if that truly is the case, Sony are sitting back doing fuck all right now as it isn't actually an issue until the next leap year...when the date will simply jump forward one day anyway and won't be the same issue.

They wont fix it tonight, they're just hoping the internal clock will sort ifself out once it clocks over to 1st march. If that doesn't then they'll have to fix it themselves, which will take longer.

The worst fear though is that they can't fix it, due to it being an inherent flaw. It could bring about the biggest class action lawsuit in history with it representing every user affected, and with 15 million people possibly affected, fuck knows how sony would cope.

Worst case scenario is that they provide us with a firmware update via the internet which fixes it. After all, this won't happen again for four years if at all.

They are definitely hoping it gets fixed when the machine date (not the OS date) ticks over to March 1st which is two-and-a-half hours for most of us.

we should place a bet weither or not it does fix itself

this reminds me of the time when Steam crashed and anyone that wasn't logged in before the crash, couldn't sign on. I was one of the lucky ones that was signed in when it crashed and made a few new friends outta it, but it was funny as time progressed, less and less people were on stream, then eventually it got fixed

My ps3 is on standby, im tempted to turn it on to see how it'll get on but i'll just leave it just incase

How many people are waiting for midnight just to see if there's a sudden barrage of messages on forums everywhere saying "My PS3 works again!!!" ? >_>

Unless something has changed in the last hour or so, I gather the ones having problems before still are...

Just turned my PS3 on and the OS is showing the very same time it did when I turned it off this morning - March 1, 7:46am (which I'd set manually). Waiting to see what happens at midnight though expecting I might need to wait until 1am to be sure.

Original?

You will need to wait until 1 am I believe, as this is the time those on my friends list seemed to be booted from PSN last night.

The EA servers were quite smooth earlier... :w00t
