The only reason this game is the best football game is cause all the rest like FIFA2005 and others suck big time.Lack of Alternatives!! PES4 is far from being a complete game. I think the game play is good but come on, what the hell is all this stumbling, tripping and bouncing ball about!?!? Its so unrealistic as it can get!! The harder level you play on only seems to make the other team (no matter if its ManU or Norwich) to be faster, stronger and bla bla, most of the things seem pre preordain. The Defence part of this game is awful!! Its so damn hard to disposses the Computer, they fend you off so easily, but when it comes to yourself u have to be 3 in order to take the damn ball. Seems to me that some features dont apply for the player but only for computer. Its frustrating!! Its....Grrrrrr
But then again what are you gonna do!? Play EA´s Fifa!?

Some of my own

OK heres a few of my own. I know some are repeated from above but a little reminder can't hurt, its a long thread.

Crappy Commentary:- "What an amazing save"...WHAT???? The ball has just trickled up to him from a misplaced pass.

Keepers:-Often refuse to throw the ball out and end up performing the default kick and won't always pick the ball up when its totally legal for them to do so.

Recovery Times:- The AI players ALWAYS recover from tackles faster than you. Either from a recieved or performed tackle.

Refs;- Too soft....should send more off. I wouldn't mind all the refs being strict as buggery 'cause I very rarely commit a bad foul. Only if its to prevent a 1on1 and you EXPECT to get a red card then anyway.

Stumbling:- AHHHHHHRRRRRRGGGGG!!!!!!!! Pro players do not stumble for no apparent reason. OK.....maybe sometimes......but you can count on one finger the amount of time Ronaldo does it in a season yet he's a bugger for it in the pes4. He does it 3 or 4 times a game.

Tackling:- How do the AI players manage to hook their foot round you, take the ball and not commit a foul WHEN THERE IS DAYLIGHT BETWEEN YOU???
You think you've pulled off a masterful shoulder drop, skinned the defender and left him for dead, turned your attention to the last obstacle between you and glory...the keeper...(forgrtting about the defender.....he's a gonner) when suddenly you find yourself alone in the middle of the pitch....no ball....and the forgotten about defender heading off in the other direction, ball under his arm, sniggering....Annoying!!!
How does the AI know which direction you are going to turn with the ball and which direction you are going to tackle in before you know yourself?

I have more but I'll be damned if I can remember them now.

After saying all this I feel I must say that for all its faults PES4 is the best footy game around and my addiction is hopeless

Dons5 i can only agree with you at how WE6 is better than WE8 - and the problem is that i can only see the series continuing in this trend.

I honesty can't see it reverting back to the older days, of free-er-flowing football. Every eddition, they add more scripting and animation which means more watching and less control. It's Like the harder KONAMI try the worse the game is going to get, especially when compared to WE6.

But really, the main problem is that expectations are so high on KONAMI and the whole series, people won't ever be quite satisfied and will always want more.

I hate the way when you do a perfectly good tackle on the computer and get they a get a free kick for it and then seconds later they do EXACTLY the same tackle on you and get away with it, drives me mental.

The stummbling is so annoying too. I have to agree with the beating of top teams (ManU AC Milan) and then only beating Norwich 1-0. I had to stop playing for a while as i was getting so damn fustrated with it.

And is it just me or is playing your mates a lot faster than when you are playing in a Master League?

ON your first point, for Konami's defense; It happens in real life as well, and in tha light you can say its realistic.

I hope Konami makes players movement on the pitch better, its bad(not as bad as EA's persiflage on a football game).

my promblems are:

Commantry-If you over hit a long pass into the oppossitions penty box
the commentators say "amazing save" or whatever!!!! its ever going to go in the goal and the keeper can let it go out!!! and the ball can be rolling along the ground at no speed at all with your players no where near the ball and the same thing "amazing save"

passing-the players can be really dumb when you pass they pass to the player thats got oppossition players surounding them and some times they pass it out of the pitch

and also this stumbling thing that is also annoying
but don't get me wrong its the best game ever!!!!!!!

I absolutely hate it when your about 2 win the ML league or your going 2 finish 2nd and the commentator says "these 2 teams are fighting for relegation". Obviously not.

The gameplay is so fantastic its hard to believe that the presentation and design are so shite. usually companies know that they produce top notch graphics and outlay that they don’t bother with the gameplay, with pe4 its the other way round.

i mean they could vary the gameplay because after winning the ML for five seasons things get somewhat monotonous give us some more trophies to win. they got rocket scientist working on the gameplay, and a team of monkeys working on the presentation.

my other concerns are
what the fuk are those throw ins all about by the time someone decides to come short their surrounded by 3 players

Trevor will you ever stop talking bollocks, ive changed the commentary to Spanish its probable just talking shite as well but it sounds fantastic

computer is too predictable and easy to beat on 6 stars. make them harder

goalies come out too early and are easy to chip,

also you draw the keeper to the ball and pass it every time to score in an open net, defenders don’t mark up properly, yet when i blast the ball into top the corner from 6 yards the goalie is able to leap 15 feet into the air and save, all in under a 10th of a second

when i hammer a team 5-0 my player rating are hardly better than the losing teams.

what pisses me off most of all is that all of these seem easily solvable, the difficulty of the team must be based on an algorithm all they have to do is tweak it a little

PES4 Faults

My twopennethworth....

Me and my PES4 colleagues (we play during lunch break at work!) agree that the following faults could improve the gameplay if sorted out...

1. The big one! One of my PES4 buddies always scores with what we call 'The Judas Ball'. This is where you run into the area and then square the ball or pull the ball back to a player who slams it into the empty net. The goalies need more AI to calculate where the pass is going to, and to narrow the angle for the following shot. At the moment, they always run to the ball, making the 'Judas' goal dead simple, and practically undefendable.

2. Ability to take a quick free-kick. It is so easy to kill a promising break-away by commiting a blatant foul in the middle of the park. When the free-kick is then presented, all of the defenders have been put back in their positions with all of the advantage gone.

3. Less stumbling. Defenders causing a striker to stumble when clean through should be penalised the same as if it were a sliding, leg taking tackle. The goal scoring opportunity has been taken away by a foul.

4. Better advantage rule. So many times the play is brought back, when the striker is clean through, because of an off-screen foul.

5. Commentary

6. Better post/bar hitting noises.

Edit... and the one that many have already mentioned... where the goalie stands and paints his nails whilst a shot whistles past the post or onto the post. That needs sorting.

once the computer fouls you, the little yellow box appears in the corner, the computer then gets the ball and no foul is given. doesn't happen that often but it is annoying once it does.

penalties are annoying as well.
