Pro Evo worth buying?

I'm asking you guys simply because I trust your opinions more than some of the more fanboyish members in the other section of the forum, and because my story follows the same as other members here (Looked forward to PES6 on next-gen, disappointed with 08, 09 etc, converted to FIFA...)

I know I may be treading on thin ice with a thread like this, and to reduce the effects of a possible PES vs FIFA debate, it would be greatly appreciated if you could tell me the following:

Do you like PES11?
Do you like FIFA11
Did you like FIFA10?

You can include some aspects which you did or didn't like about either game, but ultimately a yes or no to each will help me gauge whether it's worth a buy or not.

For the record, I like FIFA11, I just like having a decent footy game to fall back on when one gets boring. (FIFA 2003 and the corresponding PES was a good year for this).

Cheers lads

So I'll take that as a no? Excuse the smart-arse comment but I honestly didn't think it would take too much effort to yes/no 3 simple questions.

I don't have PES11, so I can't tell you whether I like it or not. I'll probably get it early next year after the January transfer window.

I liked FIFA10 and I'm enjoying FIFA11. Playing it with or against friends is great. Playing alone is not as bad as previous years, because I enjoy using my VP.

Cheers, I think I might wait until Christmas regardless when I think about it, should be going cheap, if I can get it for £15/£20 then I might not be as bothered if it sucks

I have PES11 but I just can't get into it. It has a lot of things going for it but I can't get past how rigid the gameplay feels compared to Fifa 11. I just feel there's more freedom in Fifa's gameplay.

I think that might have sealed it then haha, I played PES2010 and it honestly didn't feel like a step up from PES09, let alone from FIFA10 like some people had been claiming.

Wait until Christmas... till its done with its major patches/updates. But it's definitely worth buying .. just for the sake of giving a go-ahead to what Konami has done with the game and the direction its sailing in. MLO on its own is a huge incentive for anyone to buy it. As for offline,if you're a meticulous gamer, PES is the game for you. I've heard more than a few FIFA 11 issues...least of them being related to its AI-scripted gameplay. And yaar, believe me PES will offer you more freedom no matter what. And btw, 'yaar' is hindi for 'friend'....

NOPE!

Join the masses bro. FIFA 11 is currently the best footie game on the market. Do some research if you like.

PES2011 is definitely the best series so far...but...

passing sucks...a reported 30+ games before anyone get used to it.
shooting sucks.. no one has gotten that yet.
animations still robotic
Online still crap
No licenses
slowww game play
christmas lights all over the pitch (passing/shooting gauge)
This years major problem.....player cursor change. Do think i even have to explain.

Fifa problems..
Too many players online wanting a game :D
Online flawless so the games play just like offline. Because of PES, i was not used to that.

Fifa11 Hands down.

I would suggest getting it. But as I always say, it's down to personal preference.

You can pick it up cheap now, so why not fork out £20 or so?

Give it a trial for a week or two, and just take it back if you don't enjoy it.

shooting sucks.. no one has gotten that yet. it's very different, but in a good way. the most realistic shots i've seen from a footie game.
animations still robotic yeah a bit.
Online still crap true
No licenses install an OF.
slowww game play *realistic gamelay
christmas lights all over the pitch (passing/shooting gauge) huh?

Here’s an opinion for you:

I played FIFA 09, 10, World Cup and 11. I never played PES before. Hated FIFA 09, loved 2010, LOVED World Cup, 2011 was ok.

I quite FIFA and moved over to PES this year……here’s why:

FIFA 11 has boring gameplay. Every game is the same. Super high pressure, followed by constant lob thru balls and crosses. No mid field play. The game actually plays more like Rugby than anything else. Players are always crashing and falling over. Pileups all over the field of player bodies. The game is boring this year, period. Every……game…….plays…..out……the……same.

So I bought PES 11. The reason people of older PES games hate this years version is because it’s controls are not automatic! Meaning, you have to aim passes, you have to aim and power gauge your shots on goal, you have to actually defend your opposition. That’s why older gens of PES players hate this game…..because people are used to things being done automatically for them.

PES is a lot of fun, less repetitive and stale as FIFA. Each game has issues (PES has the cursor issue; FIFA has the freezing issues/lob thru issues/pressure issues).

Get PES, not FIFA.

However, I love FIFA (just not 2011) and if 2012 fixes all the issues, I’ll probably return to FIFA next year unless PES 2012 is improved as well….then I’ll have a tough choice.

Take it from a guy in your exact situation a few days ago,

I bought PES 2011 from Zavvi.com for £17.99 (now £29.99) and havn't touched FIFA 11 since. The gameplay is just so much better and more varied.

To sum up FIFA 11:

Pressure, pressure, pressure, pass, pass, lost possesion, gained possesion, pressure pressure pressure, 1-2 lobbed through ball, goal.

Repeat.

As the guy above mentioned, EVERY game is the same, wether it's Chelsea vs Barcelona, or Arsenal v Rochdale.

PES 2011 (my first ever PES since PES 5), is different every match, which is why I am having so much fun in Master League. You feel like you've earned a goal, because every goal is different and unique. It also has that unpredictability of how the match will turn out.

Get it, play it for a couple of days to get the bad animations syndrome out of your system and the game will open up and feel great.

Go download yourself the option file for correct names/kits and you will love it.

Hope this helps.

I haven't played Fifa 11 yet.. but about every game being same , in Fifa 10 custom tactics allowed you to dictate the build-up play. So, if you get them right for the majority of teams you come up against(of course -offline), you can play out a variety of very different games of football. Of course, on the dark side, this would only be possible offline and you'll have to spend a few hours to customize those tactics which would be worth it in the end.

Something interesting I just noticed. Two supporters of Fifa here Joel (Admin) and Phatmann have been with Pesgaming since 2003 - 2004. I have been here since 2004 also.

Not to say they don't play PES, but it seems that they are probably more experienced (like myself) with seeing all that Konami has NOT been doing over the years.

I am not saying PES is unplayable, but compared to Fifa i think it is definitely behind on a lot things.

Ohhhh..Just because JMurphy says they are looking at cursor change, it doesn't mean they will fix it and based on Seabass's record i do not think they will.

Again, it seems like the more experienced players are leaning towards Fifa. More challenges in my opinion.

A honest and fair opinion.

I am not sure if you find Fifa boring or just harder because of the added pressure.

I have never experienced a single freeze.
Lobs and thru passes can be defended easily...just adjust your backline and administer markers.

For the pressuring, make sure you pass back to your defenders. Many players always try to bully themselves through teams. Fifa stresses on build up play with passes which sometimes require back passing to pull out the opponent defense.

Players do hustle you off the ball if you try to run through many players. Pass if you do not know how to "trick" the pressure player. Most popular is the "clocK". Try it.

PES to me is outdated. Just because this series looks better and is not suffering from the delay button problems...there is the jog bug and cursor change bug present this year.

Fifa posses nothing that kills the fluidity of the game. It is pretty easy to learn and tactics makes you improve your game ...simple.

I've not exactly sung PES praises on here in the past but it is a little odd you peddling FIFA's wares on a PES site. Its like me selling Washing Machines at a Lingerie shop - out of place.

I have been around here since 2005. But in 2004 I wasn't a member and I sytarted playing pes since the ISS days. So I can call myself experienced.
And I hate fifa 11 with a passion.
No matter how you try to trun around this, fifa 11's defensive system and pressure and AI, they will always be BAD. ACTUALLY HORRIBLE.
Every team plays with a high defensive line because in fifa it's all about pressure, pressure and pressure and strength and knonking off the ball and challenging for the ball.
Where's the defensive covering?
Where's the defensive marking?
Where's the defensive timing?
And it's useless to try and change the tactics, because they don't work very well and if they do work, you still won't win in fifa. WHY?
Because pressure and strength win matches. Sometimes to take advantage of this, you have to have a speedy player, and hold the ball with a strong player (OTHERWISE HE WILL GET KNOCKED OFF) and pass the ball to a fast player when he's not marked. and you're one vs one with the keeper. What kind of realism is that?
There's no marking, and no individuality.
Because not every strong player can hold the ball. But in fifa, strong players can do almost everything. Not to mention that body balance does not exist. Balance and strength are 2 different things.
For exmaple MESSI has superb body balance, while Chielling is strong.

See, these 3 points, MAKE UP A HUGE PART OF THE DEFENSIVE GAME IN REALITY and in fifa they do not exist because in fifa it's all about strength and pressure.
Some people need to stop seeing pressure as realism, because pressure alone, without POSITIONING, COVERING AND TIMING in reality would mean that you will loose the match.
I don't mean to say that pes is realsitic. Far from iit too. But I still can't comment because I don't have the game.
