I did give it a good go over the weekend, I can reiterate rama's advice to keep it at 3 - I tried 4 and 5 for the attack balance and the AI becomes too open- you actually get more goals as their defence pile up to join the attack and game becomes too easy. 3 seems about right.

Thanks for your advice mate - really appreciate it

I had to switch up from my preferred 3-star/regular level that I've loved for years because with my mediocre team based on PES United, I was running away with the 2nd Division and conceded 3 goals in 12 games, which is ridiculous.

I'm now on professional and it finally feels like a great game. I can't say it helped being bought the same day as Forza 3, but I felt really turned off by how easy it was. I changed the level and have now had 2 wins, a draw and a loss and I'm finally happy with it.

The Ai were just a joke on Regular, it felt like easy used to be back on PS2.

Thanks, Rama78......great idea.....last night i tried it and restart with new master league by using man united in top player difficulties. After edit all these settings. The com AI seems have more desired to go forward. And the problem Com AI passing around greatly reduces about 80%. And another thing the difficult level seems raised, now is more challenging....before this setting, i'm the one who dominate the game....but now i need to put more focus on defense, because the AI will wait the opportunity to counter attack.

Just another thing to share with you guys....i'm not sure someone have discuss over here yet? From some pes2010 reviews, they mentioned the new strategic and sliders are useless, not visible or less affect to the game.

But i would like to say that, all these reviewers was 100% wrong.....every card you choose for the player, will greatly affect the player characteristic. Even like the strategic such as compactness, player support and defensive line are playing the important role in pes gameplay. For eg: i can put my defensive line more forward about 60% so that the defender can cover up the empty space more faster or stay in touch with the midfielder, But in other way i can choose the defensive minded or deep cover card for my defender so that they remember or aggressively pull back based to the situational.

Sorry for poor english.

Please Read. Yes its Long but could be of Great Benefit to you all

Ok, first of all I am on the Xbox 360 but that doesnt really matter to what I am going to talk about here except for the fact that the Konami update ruined the created German Teams I had after applying Daymos and Cowsons fantastic V1.5 Option File.

I have been holding off starting a Master League because I wanted to wait til everything was right and I thought it would have been after the Konami Update. I do feel the referee actually gives me free kicks now and cards to the AI! I also feel the game is slightly slower. Maybe I am cracking up? Anyone else feel the same.

Anyway, I cracked on with a new master league last night with just Bayern Munich as one of the german teams added to the D2 league as Stuttgart and Wolfsburg had the stupid made up players back in their respective teams as a result of Konami's update (yip, Konami said this wouldnt happen but it did). :-(

There wasnt enough players from the national squads to make up the Stuttgart and Wolfsburg teams although I did manage to get enough to get a squad of about 16 or so together for Munich.

Anyway, before I started I went through every team including the National teams and edited a couple of things in the assisted settings for them all.

The first slider in the Assisted Settings is:

Lineup: I set this to no 2 so that the computer will select the best team for the team I will be playing according to both ability and form.

What I did notice when doing this is the fact there are many teams within the game who certainly don't start with their best players and when I selected this option players who were subs came into the team with noticably better stats!

Doing it this way they will off course also pick some players with lesser stats from time to time but this is very realistic anyway as you wouldnt want a player on bad form to be in the team anyway! Poor touch, shot, dribbling, control, slower etc etc.

The other slider I selected was the very bottom one. Again go to Game Plan, then Assisted Settings, and then the Last slider and move it to no.3 (play a more balanced game of attack and defence). Well it says something like that. Im at work at the moment and cant check :-(

I started a Master League last night and I have already noticed the difference to be honest.

There was also another slider in the Assisted Settings that had something to do with Formation Settings. I think there was one that said something along the lines of Change Formation to suit the Game Situation. I never altered it but to me this could mean if the AI are losing they might alter their formation shape to a more attacking one in search of an equaliser.

To me the Game Plan Assisted Settings might be the so called Holy Grail to this game and one which could change the Master League and overall AI to be a lot more exciting and challenging.

I personally think changing these Assisted Settings could open up a whole new experience to the way the AI play and I really dont understand why Konami have them all set to manual. I think they should have been altered but werent before the game was released? Weird I know

To me they seem like they can alter a lot to make this game much better!

We know Konami can be lazy and maybe, just maybe, they left it like this for us to alter and thus make the game play and act the way we want it.

Having come from a back ground of FIFA I am used to going in and changing the tactics of all the teams in all the leagues (long job!) to make Manager Mode a lot more interesting and realistic.

In regards to your suggestions - I thought that they were all set to manual so that if you were playing as that team you would have to make these changes in game yourself (rather then the team automatically making subs for you when your players are tired.. changing to a different formation to suit the particular game you are playing etc).

But I imagined that when you play in Master League for example, all the AI teams (even with sliders set on manual) will automatically make subs, change starting line-ups depending on form etc, change formations in game? Are you saying that unless we change these sliders for our AI controlled teams then the AI teams won't do any of this in game?

If what you are saying is correct then I will def start editing all the teams because even on the highest difficulty setting I'm finding PES10 a tad easy :ninja:

Are the people who have made these changes seeing genuine differences in the AI teams they are playing?

This sounds great and i'm going to try this tonight, but I was thinking not all teams should be set to 3, maybe we should have some sort of voting system between us all to decide which teams should be on what level. (Maybe using just 2, 3 and 4). So we get the attacking teams hitting us hard and then the defensive teams being as boring as they are in real life!

I tried It and REALLY WORKS..

If we put the correct cards to the correct players in the NON CLASS A TEAMS we have a really difficult game...

I put the offensive cards to most of the forwards and offensive midfilders and now i have equalised the match Stats...Te AI takes long shots on goal and with the new sliders in the auto strategy attacks ande defend a lot more in context situations.

Have any option files implemented this yet?

What console are you on mate?

I have put this propasal forward to Daymos and Cowson and they are going to implement it into their V2 Option File for the Xbox 360 although I dont think it will be out for a while yet as they are creating all the english Championship teams.

I suggest you do these changes yourself. They honestly dont take long to do, maybe just 30-40 minutes

I have started changing the attack balance to 3/4 it does make a slight difference, in that the AI doesnt spend all game passing around the back 4. I am sure you are right - the answers in there somewhere, but begs the question why Konami set all opponents to 0 attack balance? leaving us to have to change it? did no one test this game?

Great game - but your right on the last part - why is this left for us to manually change????

Can some one tell me what the coloured vertical bar means for each team and what the different colours mean? I mean the one that is on screen while you are playing a match.

DO these changes make the defence AI move up the pitch a bit? Instead of just falling back to their 18 most of the time. It sounds like it makes the game more wide open. ANy other changes people have been using.

wich ones are you altering exactly?

I have done like this on all my teams:
Lineup 2
Auto subs 3
Change formation 0
Auto form change 1
Change game plan 2
Auto-Tactics 2
Attack Balance 3

I have also globally edited GK skills +10 and Reaction -10 on all GK's (they are better at long shots, but more realistic save ratio on close range efforts) and globally (all but GK's) Response by +5 and Dribble speed by +5.

I haven't played ML so I don't know what effect the global editing has on that aspect of the game, but when I play World Cups and BAL the game is much more interesting and the scorelines are more realistic because there are more crosses going into the area for both teams.
In all honesty, most of the matches I play now are "dream matches" with reasonable amount of chances and some fantastic scenarios, so maybe it's a certain over-exaggarated "realism" but its super fun.

EDIT: I know it's not exactly realistic to have every team on the same setting, but I preferred doing all those changes in a "state of low conciousness" or "zombie" mode if you will, but I changed Greece, Norway and a few more teams to "Attack Balance 2", well the appropriate teams the way I see it, I am also tempted to put Netherlands on gung-ho level 4 or something, but they usually only play like that in short intervals a few times per half.

Does changing the assisted settings really make a difference, I thought the assisted settings were for if you wanted help when you were playing?

The AI does seem a lot easier on PES 2010 - I've been playing on normal difficulty setting which on previous versions had some challenge for me, but I've been bossing most games on PES 2010, even against tough opposition.

With changing the settings, does the AI still decide to switch to an ultra-attacking formation when its losing 3-0?

no idea, but it works like a charm, I even conceded a few goals and the AI defence doesent automatically fall back to their 18 yard line the second I win the ball anymore.

The AI backs are going forward much more, making the AI more difficult to defend against, but it also creates space for you if you win the ball in a suitable situation for a counter.

I have been wondering this for a while also - I thought the assisted settings were for just helping you if you were using the team. Anyone?

It is the logical explanation, wich I personally believed myself until recently. (When was KONAMI ever logical?) But it feels like the AI is having a certain benefactor by applying this to every team and manually disable them after the competition starts on the team you picked if you don't want it activated. (the team you play, I mean)

If you prefer to test it out, just apply some decent Assisted settings to f.eks Brazil, then play them in an exhibition game, then remove the settings and play them again. (I usually put both teams on green or orange arrow in test games like this to make sure form doesent alter the course of the game)
