PES won't be perfect, as it seems penalties will still be from the side-on view this year again etc. etc.

Seriously? Then I don't think I will get this game. Why on earth would they want to keep it that way? I haven't find on any pes site that there were one single guy who seem to like the penalty kick system in last year's edition.

Agreed. Yeah in the build that PesFan played they said penalties are still from the side view.

^Well, every game will have the negative side unfortunately. But if you're actually awarded penalties, then it would make it better because we get to practice it more.:)

True, but I wonder why, especially since penalty kicks could be an easy thing to change back to the original way. If they want us to keep coming back for more why not ad instead of taking things away or leave the good things as is. Why change what was not broken..... I think it have something to do with the marketing of the game. Not Konami or any other game company will put up a near perfect game on the market in the fear that people might not want to buy the latest in the series.

I like the new penalty system. Its harder and when you watch a real game you watch the actual kick of the penalty from side on the majority of the time. I find it strange how people can dislike them as much as some of you do. Everyone I know who plays pes has said they think its cool and better. I

The game looks on fire this year. Atleast 10 reviewers have really liked it but just because ign played it for 5 mins and didn't like it and their the only opinion loads of you lot listen to. Its some people want it to fail. The game looks class. ML shouls be amazing this year with CL games now feeling more realistic with new gameplay, BAL overhauled, online is apparently lag free so we should atleast get a satisfactory standard online experiance, edit mode is improved, graphics and trademark expressions from players spot on, possibly more modes, 360's now can get option files etc etc. For fuck sake, this is gona blow pes 5/6 out of the bloody water and redifine the genre

^Well it's still early, so let's wait for more news and more gameplay videos. But I hope so.:)
And I read the IGN article. It wasn't all bad opinion. The first one was actually positive. The other was sort of in between so overall it wasn't bad either.

The old penalty system had a good view, BUT IT WAS BROKEN AND TOTALLY BASED ON LUCK. If they can refine this new system, it would be much better. It was already broken so they didn't break anything last year apart from the view.
And I don't really hate the view, it's actually realistic. When I watch a football game, the view when taking penalties is from the side so why would I hate this in pes?

I DEMAND more from konami! seriously if you like what youre seeing, well this is what it was supposed to be at least 2 years ago. i hate this videos, their like the same bloody videos we've been seeing since pes2009. its the same game with a few tweaks and changes here and there.

^The same? Without seeing proper gameplay videos and you can judge?
You say this game was suppose to be from 2 yrs ago (in which I have to agree), but at least it looks better overall and the first impressions are pretty positive (FROM THOSE WHO PLAYED IT) unlike last year when it was split up between positive and negative.
Also, the animations at least and the passes seem much better overall. BUT STILL WAY TOO EARLY FOR SOMEONE TO JUDGE. Those shown weren't gameplay. They were trailers so it's not fair to judge from trailers.

After seeing this video, i'm actually hoping that things will be great this year.

http://www.digitalspy.com/gaming/news/a242850/pes-2011-game-plan-trailer.html

I bought both PES2010 and Fifa 10. I barely even touched my PES and that goes for 2009 as well.

I actually like PES better as an overall game because of it's quality off the pitch options. Fifa just has better fluency in the gameplay. That's the ONLY plus that fifa gets from me but unfortuately at the end of the day, gameplay is what counts and this vid seems to introduce a more fluent player movement game.

well then konami makes the worsts video game trailers ever for a series, seriously this sh*t doesn't captivate my eye at all, theyre dull and dead. i just hate konami's overall presentation of its PES series. its like theyre trying the least. i feel like were not progressing at all, even in previous presentations konami provided us with better trailers. im talking about the ps2 era. it made you want the game badly and couldnt wait for it. now all we've been getting is messi running around in a liveless fake konami stadium with no atmosphere whatsover.

i would think that by 2011 they would come up with something new and innovative and not the same bullshit trailers they been showing for 3 years in a row. and in fact the best footage i seen from pes2011 was like a 14 sec. clip showing manchester utd agaisnt barcelona i think. showing some passes. that was the best and it wasnt even a trailer!

what gets me more pissed though is that whatever theyre showing us now, is what we shouldve gotten 2 years ago. now we should be seeing something extraordianry, something that would fuck*ng blow my mind

I must agree on the Ronaldo part. It looked amazing, Its good that you can link feints now. For me it looks like a huge improvment from 2010 and i think i'm buying PES this year. Fifa will probably be better then PES but PES will be probably more fun and exciting. The only thing that looked weird in that vid was the ball physics, but i can live with that. The stadium editor pic looked  but i have to wait with that. Liked the manager pic too and hoping for more BAL news soon because that was the mode a played the most on PES 2009.

When we both get PES, i'm expecting a match from you. lol

It's on lol :)

After the 1st watch, I was kinda pissed because the animations shown in the trailer do not show the same fluid and realistic motions of the Messi trailer.

After the initial disappointment with the trailer, I started to notice more positives; for instance, I see a lot of PES5 in some of the dribbling animations and subtle touches on the ball, which is a positive for me because PES5 remains my favorite PES in terms of feel and animations.

Adam from WENB reafirmed this sensation, when he said that PES 2011 plays like a proper current-gen rendition of PS2 games like PES5 or PES6. Adam also said that the animations feel or look notably better when actually playing the game, Suff also said more or less the same thing; I think the WENB fan-boys are telling the truth this year... but we'll see when the demo arrives.

Also,

The graphics look much better now, much more life-like and less of the plastic-like appearance or sensation. This is most notable (imo) in the HAIR of the players, it no longer looks like a piece of bright plastic glued to the head of the players. And this is something that is very noticeable in the trailer, particularly with Messi, the first thing you see in the trailer is that Leo Messi now looks almost identical to his real life self, he no longer has a piece of plastic on top of his head.

The 2010 Messi did not really looked like Messi, in my opinion, the graphical improvement between 2010-Messi and 2011-Messi is massive: the same thing can be said about CR9.

Overall,

I 'm still somewhat disappointed with the off-the-ball movement, from everything that I have seen so far, I just do not see defensive midfielders and attacking midfielders moving and reacting realistically to the position of the ball.

If Konami can strike the correct balance between playing with the ball and playing without the ball: the game would improve in a very positive way.

To date, the tactical side of the game is not relevant enough, mostly due to the fact that defensive midfielders and attacking midfielders do not move and react realistically to the movement of the ball.

After improving the movement, instead of being almost completely automatic (like it currently is), the tactical game should revolve around a semi-manual and intuitive feature, attached to just ONE individual who will move around the ball, depending on the direction via the right analogue stick.

Instead of the atacking midfielder automatically moving however he wants, the user would have on-the-fly control over this aspect of the game, the user will have control over how he will get his key player into the game, consciously creating how he wants to start the attack; and from the defensive perspective, you would also have more or less the same level of control.

For example, a slight touch backwards will have the selected player moving towards the ball, the player will automatially stop his movement when he is within a 10 feet distance between himself and the position of the ball. At this point, you repeat the same backwards movement, and the selected individual will move to where the ball is.

The amount of times you can use this off-the-ball feature would be limited, perhaps a maximum of three times per play, or perhaps less, thus it would be impossible to over-use or exploit.

Adding a new on-the-fly element to tactical play. Though, this could only be possible AFTER the defensive midfielders start reacting and moving realistically.

That's the type of tactical feature that I want to see in future PES games. But all things considered, PES 2011 looks like a massive step in the right direction: it looks like a proper current-gen rendition of the PS2 PES games.

A preview from a Spanish site:

http://translate.google.se/translate?hl=sv&sl=es&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.3djuegos.com%2Fjuegos%2Favances%2F7559%2F2209%2F0%2Fpes-2011%2F

Translated Of Course.

Sometimes you can find awesome news in some previews but later on isn't true. Like PSM3's statement last year about Bundesliga in PES 2010, but i found 2 things in this preview:

"To achieve this, PES 2011 introduces important developments on this issue. On the one hand we have the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League arrive with all the official licenses, while adding to all the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores and the UEFA Super Cup also the Master League is finally online, while aesthetics and customization options to the gameplay come together in a process of revolution, in the words of its leaders, "will achieve the greatest advance in the series in regard to this generation of consoles."

And

"Ultimately, they offer more possibilities for customization to users, in part, thanks to an improved editing mode where we have complete control over content and appearance of the game. This time there are no limits of "slots" per player or team, and also be the opportunity to build stadiums, competitions and leagues where having our own custom groups, eliminate, emblems and sets"

Best part is that Adam from WENB hinted this:

"Respectable site guys.

Just saying..."

And also putting in a "Wink" Smiley in another post.

:D

I must give credit to Konami for really expanding the edit options...It might've come a couple of years late, but at least it's here!

I always thought that well, if they cannot aquire the licenses, just make the editing option endless!

I wonder how big the options files are going to get though, lol

Sup,

I agree 100%. Apart from the official Messi trailer video....(now we know its not gameplay) none of the videos look like the game has advanced.

By now we should all realize that Konami is lost where creating a balanced game on Next Gen consoles. I refuse to be fooled again by purchasing a game based on screen shots and made up videos and then be ridiculed by Seabass with his silence thereafter.

I love how they are now more open to the public for critique but so far nothing i have seen says freedom or any shit like that. 360 movement is still non existent. Thats evident, unless you are blind. Ball physics and player animation looks more arcadish....(look how the ball just slows to crawl in front of the players when passed. almost like the ball knew it has reached its destination.) no freedom there.

Overall, not impressed.

No new engine = no new nothing.
No online = No game

This is not what i expected.

Agree.
And I'm tired of fanboys making reviews. The same thing was last year when all fanboys made reviews kissing KONAMI's a$$ and it proved PES was a big failure.
You gotta be a fool or a narrow minded fanboy to believe these reviews.

HOW CAN ANYONE COMMENT ON GAMEPLAY AND BULLSHIT 360 MOVEMENT WHEN NO GAMEPLAY VIDEO HAS BEEN RELEASED?
Those were trailers. Let's calm down and actually judge a fair way.
There are 2 types of people.
One are those people who get over excited and don't see the big picture and behind the scenes and the others are people who hate, hate and hate and even if there will be god in it, they'll still hate it and make useless comments.
There's no balance in between.
I suggest that we get some PROPER GAMEPLAY not trailers and play the demo and THEN EVERYONE WILL HAVE A RIGHT TO JUDGE. But for now, it would be idiotic to judge the gameplay when no gameplay has been released and no demo played either.

Its looks like you guys are just following the flow, Because you actually have nothing to say. Someone writes something negative and suddenly you agree.

Just look: "well then konami makes the worsts video game trailers ever for a series, seriously this sh*t doesn't captivate my eye at all, theyre dull and dead...."

Answer honestly, Is this really true? You can think a 8 year old wrote this.

And @ Ockrass

No new engine ???
No online ???

@ Pantilimon, If you read the reviews last year, you would see many of them were negative. And PES wasn't a big failure just because i didn't meet your expectation.

Heard of "Growing Up"?

Are you a PES defender or something?
The trailers are indeed very bad,all you can see is Messi running like a pupet with rigid movements and unrealistic passes.
Maybe I wouldn't be so harsh on KONAMI but they just keep coming with expresions like "The king is back",we've made tons of improvements and we have added 1000 new animations and I barely saw 10 new animations from the videos they released.
