There seems to be a lot of people on here claiming to already have the game, granted maybe to tell people about features etc, which is cool of them, but without sounding the selfish cunt if i had the game i've been looking forward to for months i wouldnt bother coming on here to explain the ins and outs of the editing mode, i'd be sat in my pants playing away (erm...on the game i mean), drinking coffee and eating biscuits.

HAHA EXACTLY what I was thinking and would do too. :D

I got a text message from shotto yesterday saying my order had been sent :D

And don't worry DJ Clue... If you preordered yours will have been sent too!

Shopto have sneakily upped the price haven't they? I read they've increased it to £37.99 and everyone already with a pre-order will automatically be charged the new price. I don't have an order there so I'm not sure, but that's what I've read.

They legally cannot charge you more than what you pre-ordered it for.

Its happened to me on Play.com a couple of years ago, i pre-ordered a game (cant remember now) but it was about £10 cheaper than anyone else. After a few days they upped their price but I still got it for £10 cheaper.
Its their mistake.

Just checked, it's true. If you've not been charged for it yet, your pre-order price will go up. They can legally do this because they have a disclaimer saying that the price has gone up, giving you the option to cancel. Also, since they haven't already charged you, they can change the price however they want.

doh! Well that's the only reason I pre ordered it with them... That is sneaky business tactics to get everyone buying from them. It can't be legal or everyone would do it! Will check my statement now...

EDIT: I haven't been charged yet......

If you ordered a while back you might get it for the regular price. I got a few people saying they just got charged for £29.99, and others saying they've been charged £37.99. I think the higher price is only for the PS3 version.

I just had a quick look on Play.com and I cant see any statement when pre-ordering stuff.

It used to say something like "If the price goes up you still pay your original price and if it goes down you pay the new price"
Maybe the policies have changed?

It should be irrelevant as to when you ordered it. You agreed a price with them and struck a deal.

Where is the disclaimer?

It depends on the site, but if you haven't paid for it they're within their right to change the price however they want. Most sites will honour the lower price, since they'll get a bad rep if they don't.

I think I ordered it over a month ago... I think this is way out of order if I get charged extra... It's like me saying I'm selling my PS3 FOR £5... Do we have a deal? Yes? OK cool, you'll have it a day or two ealry..... then on the day I sell it I suddenly realise "oops I meant £400" wink wink ;)

They shouldn't be allowed to do this.

Really?

So imagine you agree to buy it from them through a pre-order - would they be within their rights to bump the price up £100 simply because they can?

Doesn't work like that.

Exactly.
They have to sell it for the cheaper price to everyone who pre-ordered it at that price.
From now on, fair enough they can sell it at the dearer price to new customers.
Shouldnt be allowed to do it to the original pre-orderers though.

Yep, absolutely, but they have to inform the customer of the change in price and give the option to cancel payment. Pre-orders are not a fixed agreement, they're just 'name down'

Well I suggest everyone signs into shopto.net, and looks at their orders. Mine says:

Code:
Code Date Status Amount Track
SOR055689 23/10/2007 DISPATCHED £29.99 DL917834326GB

so they surely can't change it from that can they??

Stella Artois

Heh, well then anyone with any sense would surely cancel their orders.

Kev, you been informed of the price change?

Edit: Obviously not.

I'm fairly sure nobody will get charged extra from Shopto without being well aware of it beforehand. It's really not good practice and it's a good way to lose customers.

You haven't made your posts very clear then.

Firstly it was an automatic charge, now they'll be informed...

Suffice to say they've behaved badly on this one if you do end up getting charged more.
