I've been happily ploughing through the DLC this past few weeks. Finished the main Dawnguard quest (as a werewolf) and am now working my way through Dragonborn. My game is really struggling at times now though, my saved game file is up to 16mb.
I think I need to get rid of some of my stored shit, that might lower the size of the file perhaps? Problem is, very few of the vendors have a decent amount of money so that I can sell them stuff. I've got fuck loads of enchanted weaponry which I rarely use (mainly because I can't be arsed refilling the enchantment with soul gems).
pj_puttz - the DLC isn't a rip-off, I've gotten about 35hrs out of it so far ( ), and I'm not finished with it by a long shot.
Yeah I had only read about Hearthfire which seemed to be pointless and also read that Dawnguard was full of annoying bugs. Since hearing other good things about Dawnguard and Dragonborn I bought them both and they have reawakened my love for all things Skyrim!
I'm up to level 68 now and have been using destruction and conjuration magic instead of my usual Daedric sword to keep things fresh. Completed Dragonborn which was not bad but the bits in Apocrypha were ugly and annoying and have just about finished Dawnguard as a vampire though I have been putting off the final quest to get all the side quests done.
I have a save file just before I decide whether to become a vampire or not so I'm going to load that up and do it over again as a werewolf as soon as I've finished the vampire story. The biggest bug I've found so far is that whenever I go underwater the game crashes but apparently you can fix this by uninstalling and reinstalling the game data. When you have Azidahl's boots of waterwalking that's not really necessary though.
My save file is up to 18 meg now which is fucking insane. I'm a bit of a hoarder right enough and have an unbelieveable amount of top notch shit stashed in every gaff I own. This has it's drawbacks though as I discovered the other day when had a real facepalm moment.
I was at the College of Winterhold to get the extra quests done related to having Destruction and Conjuration magic levelled up to 100 and I decided to have a wee chat to the old guy (I forget his name) there. He only went and gave me a quest to seal a rift created by a mission I thought I had finished ages ago.
The facepalm came when he said "I hope you still have the Staff of Magnus......" and I thought "aaaahhh bollocks."
No doubt I DO still have the Staff of Magnus but it could be in any one of my gaffs buried in a chest amongst tons of other crap or on display or in a drawer or a cupboard or fuck knows where.
I'll no doubt make the effort to find it one day and do the quest but right now taking on the "Dragonborn Travels Skyrim Looking For His Staff That He Knows He Put Somewhere But Cant Remember Where" quest just doesn't appeal to me.
