Although the gameplay is really good, too many counters though for my liking. In elimination chamber I get really irritated by people always climbing up the sides, especially Big Show.

They've fucked up the ladder matches too. Now opponents are only interested in making a dash for the title rather than trying to beat an opponent down and then try for the title.

I swapped one of the games i got for christmas for the new Smackdown v Raw. I think i made a mistake though, i stopped watching it like a year ago but have always thought the games were pretty good. However this years doesn't seem all that great to be honest, don't know what it is but does the gamepay seem different from last years ? Maybe i just have to play it more often and get used to it.

The game has a very short lifespan, you like it for a couple of weeks and thats about it.

Thats coming from me though, I don't watch much wrestling anymore and I've not been seriously into it for a good few years but for some reason, I always get the games.

I say, if you really like wrestling then this game will appeal to you but if you have better games like PES5 lying about, then don't waste your money.

Just completed GM Mode, claiming the GM of the Year award having 5,600,000 fans for SmackDown! compared to 4,400,000 for Raw.

Took me over half the year to work out that the key for this mode is to get rivalries going, and lots of them.

Thanks for that tip, now I may be able to sneak win over my brother.

Trust me you can't go wrong.

Straight away just pair up the top 12 superstars, so say for instance your roster is, in popularity order...

Eddie Guerrero
Triple H

Kurt Angle
Shawn Michaels

Batista
Undertaker

Kane
Randy Orton

JBL
Shelton Benjamin

Edge
Orlando Jordan

And every episode of Raw or Smackdown, just have 6 single matches, with each one having one of the rivalries.

When the rivalries get boring and drag on, just swap the top 12 about a bit, this way you'll have fresh rivalries between the top 12 superstars, guarnteed to get good ratings. ;)

Whats the story mode like on this game, on the last one it is too short and predictable, but I heard this is vastly improved.

Worst story mode ever. Even the Day of reckoning one beats this. So uve got the voices...wheres the differing stories u fools! God awful story mode...great game tho. 2 player GM mode is fun. Who runs over Teddy Long...i grew tired.

I never understood that storyline. I've had two different situations with this, one I went on to the Legend storyline and the other involving Torrie's contract. Neither actually came to a conclusion to who ran him over.

Reyes9 - Yeah, ladder matches. I always find them annoying, and probably my weakest match-up. For some reason when the opponent is hanging from the belt, when I press :circle: he hardly ever grabs them. And if you fall off the ladder say 3 times, your body damage is completely full.

Another disappointment - hardcore. No dustbins, backstage areas or owt. The WWE should bring back the Hardcore Championship, some of the matches ever were in that division.

I quite like Fulfill Your Fantasy, but the female opponent is aways going after the pillows, the bitch, I'd rather her strip me down to bra and panties.

Hopefully by PS3 they'll have sorted out these things. And I hope they bring back 8 wrestlers in the ring at once for things like Royal Rumble, make it seem more like mayhem and every man for himself. With just 6, the ring seems incomplete, and feels just like a 6-man match, not a Royal Rumble.

I thought the most wrestlers in a ring at any time had always been 6 in the SD series. How much more powerful is the PS3 gonna be? I think I heard 50 times more powerful, if so, surely there's no reason for not being able to have over 20 wrestlers in the ring at the same time, now that would be awesome. Raw vs Smackdown feuds, 10 v 10 Survivor Series elimination matches, classic Royal Rumbles, the possibilities are endless.

For the who run T-long down storyline, it always seems to be your own character (I was Taker firstly and it ended up being him, then Randy Orton in my 2nd season) with them saying that he was holding them back so they needed him out of the way so they could compete for the World Title.

In Smackdown! Just Bring It (3rd edition) you could have 8 men in at the same time in the royal rumble and also 8 man battle royal.

I'm happy that you can have over the top battle royals in Smackdown vs Raw 2006 though. About time.

so how far have you guys got when it comes to the challenge modes?

I got two more WWE Superstars challenges to do and then I can do my legend ones.

Has anyone customized they locker room? Did it last night and kind of enjoyed it.

That whole designing your locker room stuff seems pretty useless to me.

Very much so. I have Divas posters up and I can't even view them very well. Damn training machine in the way of one of them.

GM mode is a good idea, but is disappointing. I wish you could act more like the GM from season mode....just taking away some guy's title belt for no reason and even get in the ring yourself.

PS3 hopefully will get back the interactive titantrons, I remember on SmackDown Shut Your Mouth where I gave an elbow drop off the SmackDown fist through a table. Awesome.

I hope they might get some things like unlockable videos, where you complete a challenge and unlock that match to view. Any news on an XBox 360 wrestling game coming out at all yet?

Agreed.

They could at least show you cutscenes of tension and rivalries brewing between superstars. The rivalries are shit, all they do is improve ratings. I want to see them having showdowns backstage, badmouthing one another, interfering in each others matches etc.

This game can be fun, particularly in multiplayer mode, but I fail to see why so many have described this as a huge improvement over previous SD series, it's been the most disappointing as far as i'm concerned. It falls short in so many areas.

I'm hoping for a great Xbox360 wrestling game, but if the Xbox wrestling games are a measure of things, I doubt we'll be in luck anytime soon :(

Original?

The undoubted best wrestling game ever is still WWF No Mercy on the N64 that was awesome, better than any of the Smackdown series.
