Jon Murphy has revealed that snow will not be making a return to the PES series. At least, not this year for PES 2012.

After a busy work schedule that saw him visit France, Germany, Spain and The US, Jon is now back in the UK and in doing so, has been able to reply to a few fans, using his Twitter account.

Just moments ago, Jon revealed the news this afternoon:

Admittedly, it's a shame. But by the sounds of it, gameplay is going to blow everyone away this year, so at the end of the day, I'm sure we'll all be able to cope without snow for 12 months.

Jon also stated that he will be able to discuss new gamemode details "soon".

Watch this space.

Ah well that's a real shame. It was always nice when snow appeared or even the appearance of 'cold winter' during the season as it helped radiate that particular time of year.

I'm scratching my head as to why it couldn't be implemented, surely it doesn't take up that much space on the disc.

I love games with that light snow effect being blown by the wind. A must for all outdoor winter sports games. EA Madden has a great feature where the weather can be related to real time conditons for that geographical place. It is an amazing feature because if a city has snow cover but no snowfall this will be shown likewise. If it is actually snowing then you get snowfall. Incredible to look out your window and see the results emulated in the game. You can shut the feature off if you want December conditions and you are actually playing in July. I wonder if F**A has this.

Really?
I really hated it,It looked crap.I used to facepalm everytime i had to play a ml game in it .I hated it about as much as i used to hate that pitch with loads of small lines on it.The breathing "SHOULD" be in it there should be no excuses to leave that out it bring's life to the game.As did mud.

I think what we must remember is that when PES 5 was released the addition of snow was a new concept for Football Games, I really don't see why they aren't capable of just adding it, I mean surely it's no harder than the raining condition used?

i would rather have no snow if it would have zero effect in gameplay, such as visibility, if snow accumulate on grass then it should introduce slippery conditions, have effect on ball physics, etc..

my two cents, bye :ninja:

Agreed. Conditions should effect the game play and random slips and mistakes on the pitch. Also maybe playing in a hostile stadium or important match could also have an effect on players performances? Maybe in conjunction with the Tenacity stat it could depend on how well they handle the conditions.

I don`t like snowy condition as when i play FIFA 11 sometimes , i had that kind of matches with snow , i can`t see the stadium very well and the ground is always skaty , we always likely to watch football on sunny or rainy conditions , not always in snowy weather .

Right on brother, I used to love snow on PES6, it's purely aesthetic but it was a nice touch giving the season a ... seasonal feel.

Hopefully the lack of elements is by the by with outstanding gameplay leading from the front. I suspect the perfunctory one dimensional cheese mongers will hate PES2012.

Obviously the snow wasn't up to snuff.

1. It had no effect
2. It looked like shit

I'm glad they took it out since it shows they are focused on gameplay and not just visual fluff.

Maybe now they can concentrate on getting the correct ratio of day:night matches for season mode in the EPL and Serie A. In PES 2011, about 85% of the season matches of the EPL season are at night. Day matches always look so much better in PES, wish they would proporiton it correctly

It's like fire and running water, isn't it? Very hard to get right from a graphical point of view. Plus, I agree with Maka. It used to do my head in on PES6 ML. Couldn't see properly.

Although this isn't something which particularly bothers me, I have to say it doesn't seem like something that would be difficult or time consuming to implement in the game. As pitches have to have under soil heating or some kind of weather protection at the top level, meanign the pitch will look normal throughout a match, the only thing Konami need to add is a snow effect.

This could be easily made or even recycled from past PES games. Also adding some snow templates to the edge of the pitch. Gets me thinking this will be a shiny 'new' feature for PES2013.

Seeing as most Premier League games get called off after a single flake is no big loss. Something they can include once they have more important stuff corrected.

If implemented properly it can be worthwhile. Pitch deterioration, wind and weather are all parts of the beautiful game. Not really a 'sim' without it.

If memory serves, Anco's Kick-Off and the seminal Manchester United: Premier League Champions game by Krisalis both made excellent use of these conditions and that was back in the early 90's, so why not now?

Leaving snow out of a game played from November through February is like leaving sunshine out March through June. But as I mentioned in a post on the first page so many season games are wrongly scheduled at night so I guess they do leave the sunshine out.
