I'm going through a Resi Evil phase at the mo and just wondered which you thought was the best installment.

Resident Evil: The original and some say best. Can't beat that mansion....

Resident Evil 2: An excellent follow-up with a totally new cast. You would think the police station would be the safest place to be...

Resident Evil 3 Nemesis: A solid installment featuring being stalked by Nemeis, a tyrant packed with a rocket launcher.

Resident Evil - Code Veronica: More of a sub-plot than a sequel. Pretty decent outing though with a return of Chris Redfield and Albert Wesker.

Resident Evil - REmake: Totally revamped version of the original on GameCube. Ace graphics and great execution.

Resident Evil 0: A prequel to the original which fills in alot of the story before the original game takes place. A worthy addition although this is when many critics became aware that the concept was becoming a bit stale.

Other games I haven't included are the Gun Survivor series, the 'online' Outbreak ones and a few of the spin-offs. One game you may be shocked to see omitted is RE4. The reason for this (despite many people thinking it is the best of the series so far) is the whole gameplay was reworked and became the new style of the genre. I'm talking about the fixed viewpoint style which invented the whole 'Survival Horror' genre.

So out of those, which do you feel was the best?

For me the best one was the REmake on GameCube. It's truly awesome as the graphics are superb even today, it was everything the original should have been. The implementation of the Crimson Heads, zombies that arise twice as quick and dangerous at any point made it a truly 'on the edge' experience. It's just a shame that not many people ahve managed to play it and that Capcom didn't do the same with 2 and 3.

I'll leave you with a nice pic of the said game in action:

Number 2, my mate imported the gem from the US and we played the biatch for hours on end.

I can't belive the only one I've completed is number 4, gotta get me a gamecube and finish them. (Or pray for a 360 release)

Directors Cut for me.

It was too similar to the original to be considered a seperate outing. All that was added was a hard mode, some new costumes and camera angles... and er Forrest arose as a zombie rather than feeling sorry for himself after having his eyes pecked out by crows. ;)

Well I liked the claustraphobic setting of the first one and the difficulty of the hard mode.

Resi 2 no doubt. I really never played number 1 too much, number two though was amazing. At the time aswell the graphics were ace and the whole police station setting was amazing. It took me quite awhile to finally complete the game, I remember running around looking for keys alot.

Resident Evil 2 is the only one I've ever played. I borrowed it off a mate, played it, shat myself, gave it back and never played it ever again :crymore:

1-3 were all excellent never played 0 and code veronica was good but I never really got into it as much as the others. but my fav out of them all is the remake on the cube has everything from the first game and more with better graphics and new plot twists.

The first game. Despite how many times its remade it still has the same thrill factor. The most recent incarnation of it is on the Nintendo Ds

I've played the first 4 on that list and i'd have to say Resident Evil was the best out of all of them. I didn't like Code Veronica, thought it was a bit shit compared to the rest. Did they only bring the Resident Evil remake out on the GameCube?

Yeah unfortunately. If RE4 had stayed an exclusive game I would have seriously recommended getting one for those 3 games (including zero).

But hey it has enough exclusives as it is to recommend buying a Gamecube, dirt cheap now too. ;)

How much? May consider buying one soley for that game.

Try eBay. You may be able to pick up a used one for really cheap.
