Resident Evil 2 for me.

I liked the fact you could play through two scenerios and it's the only early resi that I actually wanted to complete.

Resident Evil 2, hands down. Then 3, even though it was more of an action game, Nemesis always (almost) made me pee my pants.

I beg your pardon?
Resident Evil 2 was so good at the time. Me and my mate had a demo that timed out after five minutes or so, we played it over and over and over. Sad, but the game wasn't out. Then when the game came out it got serious hammer.
Might dig it out later actually.
After I've finished Metal Gear Solid (for the 10th time).

2 without a shadow of a doubt.....I loved that game. I remember the first time I played it and was running through the corridor hall and then them damn hands breaks through the window.....and also that damn tongue licker thing in the beginning. Scary shit man. It's the only Resident Evil that I completed.

Played the orginial when i was 11 but turned it off when u see the first zombie (Classic). We for me the best one is RE4 but if it doesnt count then i guess Code Veronica plus i think it is the longest one.

I did enjoy number 2, but my Claire scenario B always froze.:crymore: After defeating the first tyrant after opening the door in the Cheif of Police office, I would go back up the elevator to get Shelly and it would freeze.

Resident Evil: The original and some say best. Can't beat that mansion....

I think youve summed it up really there, Krook. If only the film was more like the game.

I still get the chills when you come across the zombie after leaving through a door from the dinning room (When the zombie stops eating, slowly turns his head to you, then gets up). Excellent.

The only other games that I enjoyed were the 2nd and Veronica. The 2nd, for me, was almost as good as the first and had some great parts in it. I think this was the game that had you in the Gunshop (?) and all zombies break in and you have to kill them quickly, but I may be wrong. Either way it was chilling and quality.

Veronica was the first game I bought for my Dreamcast. I didnt take to it at first, but eventually it grew on me. I struggle to regain incidents of this game, but I hope they come back to me as I only know that I really enjoyed playing it.

Easily the original directors cut. The other games never managed to capture the true survival horror feel for me than the first. Walking around that mansion with a crap handgun, four shotgun shells left and hunters and lab monsters walking around the shop was seriously freaky back in the day. Especially considering i was 12 when it was released!

So what did you think of the first 4 minutes of the game?

Resi 2 closely followed by REmake.

If Resi4 was an option, it would be second in my list solely for the set piece about 1/4 to a 1/3 through the game where you hole up in a house with that spanish guy and ashley, and basically fight off a near endless barrage of those bastard villagers.

Brilliant game.

"Who are ya? What you doin' here?" - Classic. :D

The gunshop was owned by Jim Kendo. He locked the door but then stood by the large window like a twat. Cue the zombies.

Tom Pain recently admitted to me that he waited around in the shop for hours at a time to prolong his life. ;)

It's true, I think CV was one of the weakest games but still worth playing if you were a fan. I remember a few things from it: the zombies at the start that arise from the graveyard, the black dude who let you go and you could swap something to get a lighter off him. Or atleast temporarily as you could back when he was dead and get the original item back. And finally the replica mansion alot like the one from the original game which was a nice touch. Other than that it was pretty forgettable compared to the others.

While that is slightly true, I did forget picking up the second box of ammo activated the zombie cut-scene.:crymore: I hoped to camp in over night with Kendo then escape during day-light.

True. It couldve been worse... It could have been that 'Dead Aim' game. What a waste of money that was...

Yeah the many spin-offs tarnished the franchise quite a bit. The Dead Aim and Gun Survivor ones more notably. I think the Outbreak games were a good idea but when the first one came out over here, the online wasn't even supported so that was pretty stupid.

The DS game looks good with some nice extras and I would probably get it if I had one. Also the Director's Cut although criticised for being a cash in would have atleast a couple votes if it was an option in the poll.

Does anyone remember when Capcom tried to put the original on the Game Boy Colour? It looked impressive for the handheld but as most people thought: too good to be true.

it's good just as I remembered on the ps1 it has more enemies though and zombies seem to move quicker which I think is better the controls work well with the ds and the little mini game that happens every now and again is a nice addition.

For me the best was the original, simply because you didn't know what to expect. It's like the Silent Hill series. Every game was good, but nothing beats the feeling you got when you played the original, and come the end you realize what was really going on.

Resident Evil 2 was great and the subsequent installments were all worthy of praise, but they were predictable.

I would really like to play the Remake. All that game needed was better graphics, which, in truth, were pretty amazing for that time and age and a reason why the game was so succesful.

Two notable moments in Resident Evil were when you are walking near the boarded up window and that beast grabs you, and when the crows break through the window. I was playing with the lights off and i admit that i was startled when that happened.

Actually, maybe that happened in Resident Evil 2...It's all a blur now.
