Has anyone played with 3 CBs? Just curious how well that has worked in MLO. I usually play with WBs in my offline MLs because of their ability to play essentially box to box. And seeing as how few people actually play crosses in the game, I'm not too worried about the flanks being exposed, especially when most people have forwards based on speed who generally are terrible at headers.

I think the 3 cbs may be able to help stop the cut back passes, and provide extra cover from through balls.

A couple other questions
1. Does anyone have the one CB from Costa Rica (best player from that nation by Overall rating), Martinez or something? He has 80 speed and 88 accel, 80 something response, and good heading ability. Was wondering how well he plays if anyone knows.

2. What tactics do you employ during a match? I've started using CB overlap (I have fast cbs) and Swap Wings. CB overlap has really helped keep possession and the cb actually got a nice poacher's goal one game. Swap wings has been useful at times as well, with the amount people close down with two players online, swapping wings usually results in a wide open flank. It also is great for long diagonal through balls to the winger, usually unmarked. Haven't had much luck with any others except all out attack for corner kicks only.

You seem to think I understand less than I actually do.

For starters, the way the overall rating works is based on the stats which are important for each position. For example, if you give a GK a stat of 99 for Offense, his overall stat won't change, and neither would his base price in the MLO market. Same goes for a defender with, say, 99 for shot accuracy. So, a player's overall stat is based on specific cumulative stats for each of the key stats for the role they play.

As for whether they are meaningful or not, the "facts" you provided still don't tell us anything about the reality of the way the players play on the pitch.

Little history on this subject... There were several complaints with regards to PES 09 and other versions regarding the fact that you can take a player like C.Ronaldo, and he can be a more effective DMF or SB than a player who is primary in that role, for example Sagna (SB). Many people believed this needed to be fixed, and when the overall stat became part of the game in 2010 there were more than a few people saying that it solved this problem. The question is, does it really have an effect, or no? Again, I would suggest some play testing is required before jumping to any conclusions based on the way we think it should be. If nobody else is willing I'll try some things out to find out what the case is. I'm not expecting either outcome to be the case, just want to know with certainty before making any changes to the way I purchase players.

How many games have you played in pes11? i have played more than 1000. so i think i have done my testing. total ratings are just indicators of the players ability to play in a specific position. actual stats don't play. so Rooney will be the SAME Rooney, wherever he plays. I thought the rating thing was just a guidance for people who are new to the game .I never pay attention to the overall rating. I always switch my full back's too cb's to counter the annoying pushed up 4,3,3 .This make my attackinging minded full-back's like zhirkov's overall rating go down to like a 40.But that doen't all of a sudden make him a bad player.
If i like a attributes for a certain position ,i'm going to play him there.

omg i just beat the king of cheat ( the one who got 200+ Million total asset), and in return i got 1M+ for gate receipt( its like winning 20+ matches with regular team), i feel like i've beaten the secret boss of final fantasy

Nice! I guess there´s always a small consolation if you get paired up with a mega cheater, at least you´ll have a good pay day! 1 million is crazy though.

1. How much is Distin? I've got nearly enough for Martinez, thinking of swapping him for santacroce, and moving santa to RB to utilize his speed.

2. CB overlap doesn't always make him target man, I think they play more like CMFs, he usually hangs around 18 yards out, sometimes going into the box, sometimes not. He helps possession as I'm moving down the pitch since he's coming up from the back (usually delayed) and he offers an extra passing option. Also CB overlap is great for winning the ball in midfield, the opponent usually doesnt expect a CB to be bossing around in the midfield! Btw I have gattuso set as DMF, so when I lose possession, his "cover" card makes him play in the CB possession that my CB overlapper vacated. Has saved me numerous times!

3. swap wings isn't swap wingers, it means opposite side attack, ie, long ball to other side of field to the winger. It takes practice to pull off otherwise you may kick it into touch, or kick it behind your running winger. But it's useful as most people never see it coming, and have never experienced it before.

sorry your argument isn't very convincing i dont think anybody here ever argued that the stats will change when you put players out of place, of course when you are on the ball with that player there will be no difference, but the difference is when that player is not on the ball, will he still make runs that a player in that position would normally make? will rooney react to your offside trap as well as nesta?i have my doubts, and simply stating that you've played more than 1000 games doesnt really remove any of those doubts as i have played nearly 900 games myself unless at the 1000 mark i'll hit a sudden epiphany lol

I ended up changing my team up with a hair-do theme and selling my best players except for bradao ,Toni and dominquez . Just for a bit more of a challenge
I was gonna do a slap head fc:laugh: team but found out someone already had thought of that, so i went the opposite to that.This is how my team looks like now

Im in div 1 easily holding my own against top players who whore the game for every flaw, but i've been getting frustrated trying to climb to the top of the leader board in div1 since i changed my team in div 2,i've just been htting a brick wall around 540 ish and it doesnt help highly ranked players keep doing the quit cheat,then ill play a jammy bastard who'll fluke a draw and takes about 20 pont of me.:angry:

Anyway's i'm going to stop playing pes for a few months ,to keep it fresh when i play again, way to many a late nights playing the game.:huh:

Played around 200+ games now. Still have not managed to get into the final 16 in a competition. even though i win 3 consecutive games. 5 minutes is just too little time to win more than 1-0 for me sadly. Sitting at 508 points right now. so wont be promoted to D3 tomorrow it seems.

Again... I'm not saying I believe the overall stat does anything. I'm just saying that you haven't been able to produce any sort of reasonable argument or example of any kind. There's no debate here if you aren't making any points. For example saying how many games you played means nothing. I want facts, not opinions disguised as facts.

serious cheat in xbox 360 version, Alienr0x can make a game end and always win... biggest expoliter I have seen to date. Got screen shots of him doing it. I played him twice in qualifying round of a D1 cup earlier.. both times I scored early and the game ended instantly. I thought it was odd but pretty fishy I got no result or gate receipt each time.

Anyhow ladyluck drew me against him in the knockouts in the semi-final.

I thought id be more clever, trying not to score, however after dominating the game I decided to score in the 85th minute, and you guessed it low and behold the game ends, I get sent to the main menu of the game, and when I return online, I cant re-enter the competition and it gets recorded as a 3-0 defeat, what a disgrace...

I took photos of before and after the match. He has a world class 11, and needs to be stopped....

Everyone file complaints I have photos to show you if I knew how to upload, he needs to be banned big time. I read on other forums this is how he is winning all these competitions...

well back to How i'm doing in mlo..had a really bad week in mlo after getting promoted to division1, drawing and losing games against really weak opponents, most of the time beaten by some really stupid goals.
conceded one today where my cb was facing my own net in the box carrying the ball with a forward chasing down on him, i pressed square to clear it, but my cb slips and missed it completely and then for some reason my keeper dives to the ground like someone just shot him, the striker on the other team just slots it into the empty net, 1:0, then he just switched to some stupid formation with only 1 forward that crossed half line, and just booting it away wherever he got the ball, i end up losing somewhere near 30 points points for losing this stupid game because the guy was in d5
since promotion it always gives me the feeling that its handicapped or something when i play shitty teams or players, didnt really have that feeling before d1, maybe i'm just having a bad run lol
